A piano played softly.

Today's Tids Issue 5,335

Creepy cabals:

I looked to write a lilting poem

Of a soft and loving romance

Just as the words began to flow,

One Drive opted to go freelance.

The laptop sent an amorous note

But my eyes just looked askance.

Maybe I’ll finish this morning's mess with a love song today.

The scariest five words in the world today are China, Russia, Iran, North Korea.

The big discussion on college campuses this early part of the new school year is among professors discussing whether students be allowed to use AI. As one Prof puts it clearly: “It allows students to produce a good paper without them thinking or writing themselves.” Hey, that sort of fits in with parts of modern America. Gettng paid for doing nothing.

The Question:

I probably have no clue to the answer of this question, but it is always good to at least try to stay current. Who are considered today's top ten female singers?

The Headlines:

--Markets Down as Inflation Continues ot put Damper on Enthusiasm.

--US Tests Nuclear Capable Intercontinental Ballistic Missile.

--Blinken Arrives in Kiev with One Billion as Russia Shelling in Eastern Ukraine Kills 16 Innocents.

One of the great Senior events of this town that happens each September is at noon today. That’s when members of the Circle of Scholars, Salve U’s constitution education program, jump online to beat thc others out for the best of over 50 class options. It’s quite today.

I remember the days when I would say no to alcohol, it just didn’t listen.

Talk about inflationary, the UAW proposal to the US big Three automakers calls for a 46% wage increase. Yeah, that will help the average working families pay for a potential average $60K car in the immediate future following a contract.

A friend of mine just wrote to tell me he tried to remarry his ex-wife, but she figured out he was only after his money…

BTW, union types marching up there in Detroit and environs even ahead of the proposed September 15 strike date, complain that management has not even responded to their proposal. How could any intelligent person ever find the right words that could seriously answer the UAW demands. (Even the head of the union, btw, calls their demands audacious.)

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until they open their mouths.

The magician who mastered the illusion of the sawing box comes from a dysfunctional family with two half brothers and a half sister. Ugh.

I see where Venice is going to charge day trippers in an attempt to reduce tourism and the resultant clutter. Hmmm. I wonder if our town Management knows this.

Today, the biggest threat from China is the slowing of their economy.

Some days I just let my mind wander, and some days it doesn’t come back.

Sorry, I wrote that entire poem because I just felt like using the word askance.

The Answer:

Number One is Ariana Grande and she is followed by Sia, Celine Dion, Adele, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Shakira, Kelly Clarkson and Debbie Lovato. The Next ten are Alicia Keys, Pink, Taylor Swift, Halsey, Lana Dey Ray, Christina Aquilera, Dua Lipa, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello and at #20, Mariah Carey.

Talk about love... tomorrow is the first of the season Tids Pickker’s day!

Unrequited love makes for some touching music.
