Better or Faster

Today's Tids Issue 5,348

Trite ain't Right:

Did you hear about the guy who worked in the Bicycle company as their official spokesperson?

Menendez defense statement yesterday was standup comedy at its best. Talk about the emperor with no clothes. He is funnier than George Santos.

Yes, now after a swipe at Robert M, it is about that time when Dems pull out the usual, “Waddabout Trump”? Yes, that’s the new way in America. One good insult deserves another. And facts be damned.

But the good news is… Hey, wait a minute. Is there any good news? Oh yeah, it is officially National Family Day. But isn't that just one of the great days that is every day.

The Question:

The fall is mellow. A good time to sit around with a good friend. Watch the leaves drop. Feel the changes in the air. And pop open a good beer. People voted for the best Fall Beers. What are the top ten.

The Headlines:

--Market Futures as Grey as New England Skies; Open Significantly Lower; EU Wants Apple to Open Up Secrets to all.

--President Biden to March O on Auto Picket Lines.

--Hunter Biden Sues Guiliani and His Attorney Robert Costello for Hacking and Manipulating Data on His Laptop.

--Uber Joins Together with California Taxi Drivers.

It looks to me that Hunter B is going to make a lot of lawyers rich.

Here's why there is so much material for poking fun at the Stock Markets. Last night the Market surged late because “Wall Street stops Worrying about the Fed Actions.”. This morning the futures are dismal because, “... markets facing up to the likelihood that the Fed won’t cut interest rates soon.” Maybe there is a new WS TV game out there somewhere.

There is a certain degree of real worry about a shut down. Political interruptus is a bad thing for our economy. But the national news media snippets designed to bring the effects home to the average family are a little shallow. Like, now my family won’t be abel to go to Disney land. The Mouse that roared.

BTW, Micky has new biography out there, the Author is Anonymouse. Bada Bing! (Thanks NTPL)

It seems from what I read, if there is a shutdown, Ukraine doesn’t have to worry about a stoppage of funds. Well, I’m glad that’s clear.

I read today about DNA scientists using advanced techniques combined with new Anthropological discoveries to tie us all to civilizations we never thought of. Like, who cares other than professors looking for grant money.

Joe B was the union president when he started and today he will s cement that by “picketing”. Though it should be noted that after the contract disputes are settled, union members are often more conservative than we think. And Joe B certainly isn't that. Now if the Prez were marching in a college professor picket line, that would be something.

It seems that all of a sudden, I‘m busy. How can that be?

I was about as happy as it gets before streaming. Of course, I was as happy as it gets when listening to shows on the radio in the 1940’s

Before I get to today's year, I should have mentioned that it was 1942 when I learned how to make handprints in clay and ashtrays for my parents. How about Kindergarten kids of the forties making smoking accessories for Mom and Dad.

So, 1943 is the turnaround as the USA and the allies as they took back North Africa and forced Italy ot surrender. Rome was liberated on June 4 and Italy joined Allied forces except in the north where Mousseline was installed by Germany as Puppet. US Troops begin the Pacific March with taking of Guadalcanal. But in America the war effort was forcing even more intense rationing. But lightened it, it seems, with the music of Glenn Miller, the most popular band of the era. Sinatra continued to build on his popularity. The Pentagon building was completed. Chevy Chase, Janis Joplin and Arthur Ashe were born as were Newt Gingrich, John Denver and Mick Jagger. The average annual wage is $2K. But you could not buy anything anyway. I waded through penmanship exercises, learned the alphabet and how to count. I was actually quite a good first grade student. Actually, that was the high point in my academic career.

I thought the Cincinnati Bengals looked lethargic last night. Maybe that’s why I fell asleep. Or maybe it's because I am old.

Meanwhile as we look ahead to the 2024 elections, Kamala Harris is still the President in waiting.

The Answer:

#1 is Sam Adams Octoberfest. Next is Shipyard Pumpkinhead followed by, Dogfish Head Punkin’ Ale, Southern Tier Imperial Pumking, Shiner Octoberfest, Left Hand Octoberfest, Sierra Nevada Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale, Brooklyn Oktoberfest, Sam Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale and #10, Southern Tier Harvest. But, if your area is anything like around here, you don’t have ot go far to discover a nice little local brewery with something special for October.

Now I have to go out and find a good NA Octoberfest.
