Don’t look up.

Today's Tids Issue 5,362

Two countdowns for the Price of One:

I’m going into this weekend with Love and Football on my mind. What could possibly go wrong with that?

One of my really favorite things I don’t eat much anymore is a good warm cheese Danish. Good pastry is always about as tempting as it gets.

Patrick Mahomes was named this year's NFL MYP. Will he be named the SB MVP? Also, Last night Nick Bosa won Defensive player of the Year, Justin Jefferson O Player of the year, Brian Debol of the Giants as Coach of ten Year and Geno Smith as Comeback player of the year. I agree. Dak Prescott n the Walter Payton “Man of the Year”. Maybe the Jets are the team of destiny after all – the Offensive and defensive rookies of the year were both from the Green -- Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner.

One disagreement I have with younger generations is that they consider nachos as food. I say I like x or y restaurant and the first thing an X’er or millennial says is, “They have great” Nachos.

Many a football fan will be feeling empty as the last seconds wind down Sunday, and the 2022-23 football season officially ends. But my friends, next week pitchers and catchers report to spring training I love the whack of bats those thunks into mitts and the diving catches and mighty blast5s. So, the pigskin emptiness will be short and new heroes arise. Except maybe for eth bewildering Red Sox.

The Tids Punster Laureate strikes again: My friend claims that he “accidentally" glued himself to his autobiography, I don’t believe him, but that's his story and he’s sticking to it.

The Question:

Where does Valentines Day rank in terms of most holiday Chocolate Sales? Bonus: How does VDay rank in flower Sales against the other big days? Extra Bonus: What are the most bought gifts on Valentines Day

The Headlines:

--Investors Back Off Deflation Jubilation; Markets Open Lower as Caution Becomes the New Guideline; Dow Leaves the Week on High Note.

--US Shoots Down New Small UFO Over Alaksa.

--China Not Answering US Calls to Key “Hotline”.

--Pence Subpoenaed to Testify in Criminal Probe of Trump.

--Russia Launches Huge Atack Across Ukraine; Strategic Bombers, Cruise Missiles and Drones Pave Way for Large Ground Advancement in East.

--Moldovan Prime Minister Resigns; Government Collapses.

--Turkey/Syria Earthquake Deaths Pass 22,000.

I read there is this new business thing called a “rage room” where people are given clubs and bats to break the hell out of everyday things around the house. Yikes!  Hmmm. I think that instead of teaching peoepl that they can smash their way out of anger, they might want to have them sit ia quiet room and listen to soothing music. It’s always been good for savage beasts, as they say

Ok, it is TidsPicker time for the last time til next August or so. I love Patrick Mahomes, and he will be the most exciting player on the field. But, to me, The Eagles look tough as hell. This will be a super bowl won in the trenches. I pick Philly, 24 to 20.

Apple is a fine, imaginative, well-run company, but will they ever find another breakaway product like the original, astonishing at the time iPad, followed the whiz-bang iPhone. That is the question. Are they now just your regular old successful comfortable behemoth? Or is there another revolutionary spark down deep inside the bowels of a secret lab?

According to health officials, there is now a need for a new vaccine against Fungi infections, now apparently on the rise. I can only bb happy that I always thought mushrooms were useless.

The Answer:

Only Christmas and Easter beat out VDay for Chocolate sales. Bonus: Valentines' Day ranks highest in flowers delivered followed by Mother’s Day, Christmas/Hannukah, Easter/Passover and Thanksgiving. Extra Bonus: The most popular gift for VDay is a card. Next is a personalized gift where the giver creates art or something meaningful to each other which may not be commercially available. But may be as a result of working with companies that help produce such personal gifts. Next is Chocolates followed by Flowers, Dinner for Two, Clothing, Gift Vouchers, House Plants, Perfume and Jewelry. It is number Ten which is good because now I won't feel so bad if a don’t buy a diamond.

Well, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y, it's Superbowl weekend. I look forward to a good game, and not at a Superbowl party. I just wish the halftime show wasn’t so long.

Enjoy a terrific weekend!!
