Inevitability. It happens.

Today's Tids Issue 4,692

You gotta a nickel for a cup of coffee:

Life is too short to sit around worrying about every inane utterance that it seems each day invades our comfortable solitude. Or, is that each hour?

The most misused word of 2020 so far is “Systemic”.

“Artificial Intelligence” sounds eerie to those who don’t understand. Actually, it’s a human trait to feel uncomfortable about things we don’t understand, which too often leads to rejection out of hand based on nothing. But AI is the well underway in all aspects of society, and the great news is that it will be the foundation for the next great society, at least for those who don’t cop out and look to government step in. For those who never stop trying to grasp opportunity when they see it.

I have seen change, and I have consumed it.

I have always had trouble playing golf because my mind often wandered to places way beyond my focus on the ball. And now that I can’t hit the ball very far, every stroke counts more than ever. It’s hopeless. But the scenery is good, making the game quite poetic, and actually inwardly satisfying.

A grandmother called the hospital to inquire about her grandson who had swallowed some coins. The nurse said, “No change yet>”

The Question:

What is the origin of the Phrase, “Pull out all of the stops.”?

The Headlines:

Probably the most important local election votes are those we cast for school committee posts. Depending on who they are, they will have a lot to say about what happens to the minds of our children when we aren’t there. Do they like kids or are they more interested in experimental learning techniques.

It appears that Catholic/Christian churches have been attacked in increasing numbers lately from Cal to Fla, some even burned to the ground. I say “it seems”, because there has been no outrage from the general news media, who seem to find outrage only in events that help define their agendas. (Just in July, statues of Mary have been stolen or burned. Churches, even with parishioners inside at morning mass have been vandalized and set afire. The events have occurred in LA, Brooklyn NY, Ocala and Boston in one week.)

One of the great diagnosis you can hear from a doctor as you get older is, “Stable”.

Q: Who is happiest over the concept of defunding police?

A: Criminals.

Do you know what seems scary to me, the reopening of Disneyland in Florida, where Covid is rampaging? (By the way, Hong Kong Disneyland just closed after opening only two weeks ago.)

I’m thinking that Hong Kong Disneyland closed because word got out that families getting on the “Small World” train ride found themselves winding up in a communist controlled gated community. With Minnie mouse nowhere in sight.

Oldies but Punnies, Department:

--Police were called to a daycare center where a three-year-old was resisting arrest.

--One day after NY man’s friend arrived from Czech Republic, he asked to visit a zoo. The man took him to the Bronx Zoo. While standing in front of the Gorilla cage, one gorilla busted out and swallowed the Czech whole. Shocked, the friend from New York ran to the Zoo keeper who responded carrying an ax. “Which gorilla,” asked the keeper. “The female over there,” said the friend”. The keeper raised the ax and severed the gorilla in two. No friend inside. the New York friend send, “I guess the Czech is in the male.”

A new Marquette University Law School Poll for battleground state Wisconsin shows that while Trump is weak with Younger and Older people, he is actually gaining ground with middle age people, Gen X’ers and younger Boomers. Yes, Trump is weak with dreamers and the inexperienced, and older retirees who prefer a “safe” candidate; someone who is seen as a protector of Government safety net programs. While those who are in the midst of their responsibility for family and schooling and trying to provide for a a future tend to favor DT. Interesting data.

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” – Thomas Jefferson (Fact Checked – “Jeffersonian Cyclopedia” 1900 F&W.).

If you don’t accept change, somebody will pick it up and use it.

The Answer:

When an organist wanted to thrill the congregation with an immense, inspiring sound, he pulled out all of the stops on his organ.

One thing you can expect to see from the US Mint in the future is no change. Get ready to adapt.  And stop worrying
