Happy 242nd Anniversary.

Today's All-American Tids Issue 4,167
My country tis of thee:

Well, here we are this morning basking in the glory of our USA heroes of the past. Those who fought, those who thought; those who said, “Enough.” We salute all those who envisioned a better way for all; every single one of those who took action to achieve it. As always, throughout our history, there have been those don’t seem to like who we are or who we were. But somehow, we have overcome little grievances, major conflicts and great divides; we have always looked back within and rediscovered who we are. Why who we are is so important. We have always been able to look up through the fog and find the light. Yet, for all of these years those differences have been one of our greatest strengths. We have learned always to eventually see  other sides, to take the good from all arguments even though at times seemingly an impasse. Today we salute our flag and our indomitable national spirit. We look for those who will be the new imagineers, the healers; those will carry forward the values that are America. Smile, we are still going strong.

The Question:
What two great Americans died on the 4th of July, 50 years to the day that the Declaration of Independence was signed, 192 years ago today?

The latest media darling, Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, “This is not an end, this is the beginning.” It reminds me of Khrushchev saying, “We will bury you”.

In the big three cable news ratings race, Fox (1,490M) Stays on Top while MSNBC (930K) replaces CNN (658) in Number 2 slot. The Top prime time shows for the three networks are Hannity (3,368M), Maddow ((2,752), Tucker (2,697M), Ingraham ((2,654M) and The Five (2,233).

Interestingly, all of the cable news networks are down. Could it be that Americans are tired of the bitterness? I think so.

A lot of people are always concerned about the smell of dampness on a hot summer day. I always thought that was one of the pleasurable qualities of living near the sea.

I love this place, The USA.
And I honor this special day.
A day when founders stood tall.
When tyranny began to fall.
This fine day when freedom rings.
When we chose people over kings.

The Answer:
Everybody knows that it was Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, the second and third presidents of the United States. No, it was not George M. Cohan.

We sing lots of patriotic songs in this great United States of ours. At any given time one of them may become more popular than another. But, I have to tell you that when I was kid watching newsreels of American troops win in the pacific and in Italy and in Germany, my favorite Patriotic song of all was “My Country Tis of Thee”. But, I don’t hear that song much anymore. I have always wondered why. Had it become politically incorrect? Does "Tis" sound too much like "Tids"? So here it is. Enjoy a burger or a dog. Or a salad. (Actually, the only reason I wrote this Holiday Tids is so I could send out to you this song.)
