Arizona and the Rest.

Today's Tids Issue 2,722
Opening Stuff:

Bummer. It's a Day with a capital "D" that is impossible to forget. Like 911 today. If you lived it, it is indelible. That early Sunday morning at a sleepy Pearl Harbor and terror, pure frightful terror from the skies. That Day when the menace of the Far East turned it's marauding eyes to the West. Remember the dead, the tragedy of man's aggression and never forget the lesson. Beware of what you can't see.

After decades of study, retailers know that people entering a mall or department store will turn right, and they adjust their merchandise accordingly. Maybe Repubs should promote voting in department stores.

The Question:
How many Americans were killed on Pearl Harbor Day? Name five ships that were sank. What was the US air base that was attacked and destroyed

The Headlines:
--7.3 Quake Rattles Northeast Japan On Pearl harbor Day.

Moving South for the Winter is not getting frostbit fingers hanging up Christmas wreaths. But, there is something special about doing things in the bitter cold.

The talk of Dave Brubeck yesterday, brought back rhapsodic memories from many. How the great, the unique, the incomparable musician touched their lives for so many years. In fact, I'm going to buy one album favorite of a reader -- "Gone with the Wind". And then sort through mildewed albums in the cellar for a couple of my own.

Did you hear about the lawyers new ad program: Call us! We have a list of people you can sue."

Good for George Zimmerman. he is suing NBC News for creating a racist myth about him. As we all know, NBC edited a tape of Zim talking to make it appear that he was a racist and that the killing of Trayvon Martin was a hate crime. It is this type of irresponsible, agenda driven reporting that must be stopped for the good of all Americans. A simple editing of a tape that could someday create a cataclysmic split between us all.

Oh yeah, instead of using George Zimmerman's name in the headline, the story that announced the suit against NBC I read in Yahoo was headlined, "Trayvon Martin's killer sues NBC...", thus keeping the hatred alive. God help us from the media.

Have you ever seen a before pic in a cosmetic, beauty or weight loss ad where the person is smiling. Most look like convict pictures.

I had to root for the guy last night on Wheel of Fortune who characterized himself as "The King of Comfort Food", saying. "If you like something good smothered in gravy, come over to my house".

Disgusting Number of the Day, Department:
$2 B-b-b-b-illion spent to elect a President! What more can I say. And, part of the tragedy is that not a nickle was spent in RI, where Dems can count for a win with out raising a finger -- whether the candidate is Abe Lincoln or Al Capone.

Gourmands call it gravy while gourmets call it sauce. Doctors call it heart attack waiting to happen.

--Pretty good cast -- Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, Kris Kristopherson, Sissy Spacek (Sissy Spacek?) -- in this thriller about siblings in crime ion the run  after a heist from a LV casino and a car crash that kills a state trooper. Some strange quirks of fate reunite the twosome for a showdown.

The Answer:
353 Japanese aircraft leaving 6 carriers in a total fleet of 30 ships flew to Pearl that morning, killing 2,403 and wounding 1,178. 21 ships were sunk or severely damaged. 188 US aircraft were destroyed. The ships were USS Arizona, California, Maryland, Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Cassin, Downes, Raleigh, Curtiss and Shaw among many others. The name of the air base was Hickam Field.

You have to wonder when atheists are going to go after National Public Radio for playing religious Christmas Carols. But then, that's just the way it seems to be today. You just sit there wondering when the next irrational event will occur. The USA used to stand for comfortable stability. Now it seems to mean gotcha. On a day when we remember Pearl harbor we find ourselves worrying about an enemy within.

Have a fantastic weekend everybody!
