There’s just something about the word – lovely.

Today's Tids Issue 3,656
For Loveliness:

It’s hard to find words that exactly express your feelings for someone special. At least I never feel that I have found the special expression that really coveys the sincerity of my fondness or admiration or gratitude or sorrow. Maybe I’m too rigid, too formal in my thinking, filtering affection through a brain instead of a heart. Maybe I should take a page out of the Urban dictionary – You ma f-ing bitch. Lets do it. Yup, some things are much simpler said than they appear.

If you think about it, the American railroad barons of the 19th century probably owe some of their wealth to the artists of the Hudson River school who in their never ceasing quest for more exotic and magnificent landscape opportunities forged west. The paintings by artists like Albert Bierstadt depicting the America not seen, captured the imagination of Americans and was the stimulators for many to leave the East Coast…. By train. Nothing is really ever in isolation. Everything is a combination of factors.

Well, tomorrow is opening night for the Olympics. I expect it will be very exciting, producing oohs and ahs and heart stopping moments as it always does. Maybe even some of the media people who have worked overtime to paint a bleak picture of this first South American Olympics will see and feel the glory again. After all, the Olympics are special -- no, make that the ultimate -- for many bright young (And occasionally old) people who work and sweat for years hoping for this one shot upon the world’s most competitive stage. It is their time. That’s all that counts. Screw the politics and the egos of Presidents, let’s just focus on the courage of winners and losers alike, all those who have beaten all comers for this chance to become the best in their sports. That’s what it is all about.

The Question:
Here are five Urban slang words – “Astronaut’s Wife”, “Burger”, “Aunt Jamima”, “Crockadillapig” and “Butterface”. Extra Points” “Ghettobird”. What do they mean?

About the only favorite food of my childhood that Big Nanny Menu makers have not painted black is Velveeta Cheese. Did I ever devour a lot of that!

It was interesting to see that something as volatile as restroom usage in schools could move one liberal justice vote to the so-called conservative side in SC decision. As a citizen, I would love to see a court not drawn by ideological lines. I mean, Supreme Court Justices are supposed to be really, really smart people who should be able to see all difficult decisions beyond their emotional preferences.

I had T-Mobile service for my cell phone for years, but couldn’t really take advantage of its good rates because most places had weak signals. In the latest rankings though, T-Mobile has zoomed to Second ahead of AT&T, now nibbling at Verizon’s heels. It’s nice to see T-Mo though determination beneath derisive laughter become little engine that did it. Now, Sprint on the other hand has captured the imagination of many phone buyers with some pretty creative sales strategies, but they still lag far behind the new “Top 3”! Competition is still the great reason why the USA stays on top of the rest of the world. If you work hard and never succumb to “No”, you can find your way to the top.

The way the Admin communications team scrambled after the news of the $400 million Iran payoff, seems to be clear evidence that the powers to be in the White House saw this as a really bad piece of information for public disclosure.

To win Olympic Gold in cycling, you must put the pedal to the medal.

The Answer:
Astronauts Wife describes an attractive older woman who is out of reach. Burger means “Cool” “Awesome”. Aunt Jemima is used to describe a woman with small breasts, or a woman who is considered a sellout to the race – often subservient to whites. A crockadillapig is an expression to describe a really ugly woman who has elements of a Crocodile, Gorilla and Pig. Butterface is a description for a woman who looks perfect everywhere but her face. Extra Points: A Ghettobird is a police helicopter with a spotlight! Just to show you how complex some of these terms are and the thinking behind them, I give you “Aviation Blond”! This is a black girl who has dyed her hair blond. But, the aviation part refers to the “Black Box” in an airplane cockpit, meaning her pubic hair is still black. Yikes! I wonder if Shakespeare ever thought that deeply!

I wonder if Obama is considered an Uncle Jamima for living in a place called the White House?

It has been delightful, wonderful, incredibly enjoyable…lovely being with you today!
