Overreaction decimation.

Today's Tids Issue 4,914

Common versus Non:

It is becoming obvious that the people who like this idea of reformed, undermanned, hands-tied police forces best are criminals.

There are all kinds of days as we plod our way through life. And some days just go right and are better than others. They are the ones to remember.

Ok, it’s become obvious that the Tids is Haunted. How else would you explain a respectable short phrase journalist producing so many typos like a couple like these sent in by an eagle-eyed reader: “Interstingly, the elctins ahpepsntehdayafetr Biden meees Putin” and “t will certainly signal where tis roguenaiton may begoingn. Forst, tye have barred any Rhoua hani alles from running.” The good reader was looking for humor in this, but only found pity for a fading mind.

I installed a skylight in my apartment. The people above me are furious.”  --Steven Wright

How about that NCIS finale last night! Yikes!

The Question:

For what baseball team did Babe Ruth play when he hit home runs # 712, 713 and 714? Bonus: I admit, I like Steves Nicks. What are her three top songs? Extra Bonus: What is known as the baseball pitcher’s “Best Friend”?

The Headlines:

I have always enjoyed a riding a bike, but I always had this feeling that cars were a lot more powerful than my bike. And I rode accordingly. Especially in older cites where the streets were designed for horses and buggies.

The Voice had a pretty good finale show last night and the v final voting went about as well as expected. Cam Anthony won, followed by Kenzie Wheeler, Jordan Matthew Young, Rachel Mac and Victor Solomon. Many thought Victor’s singing effort on Monday was the best of them all, But by the final, fan groups have been well established making it tough for late bloomers to win. Kenzie sang a nice song with Kelly Clarkson, and it was clear that Kelly is light years ahead of Kenzie as a singer. And interestingly, Jordan and Blake sang a good old country song duet, giving many observers second thoughts about Jordan thinking that if he had been Country all the way he may have won it all. Personally, Jordan was my favorite. He kind of grows on you. I am finding a bit of monotony in this old standby.

If I’m a Repub in 2022 I’m thinking “Dems are soft on Crime” themes. It worked before. People like to feel safe more than anything. And if climate is indeed the real villain, it’s not happening until 10 years. AOC told me that.

Hank Williams Jr. is 72 years old today. Maybe its ok for him for him to drop Junior.

Crime is way up in cities that have downgraded police departments. This is a very unfortunate example of throwing the baby out with the bath water. And another reason why we should always take deep breaths before overreaction to tragic events. And this especially includes an over exuberant media. According to NBC News, Portland Oregon crime is up 800% (Murders up 1,600%), Minneapolis is up 112 % to lead the way of increased crime in cities  where the defund crescendo took hold. Other key cities with significant rising crime rates are NYC, LA, Austin Texas, Boston and Chicago. Reducing police forces was dumb idea in the beginning and now it has been proven to be so.

The Brooklyn Nets are making my beloved Celtics look like amateurs. I thought we had a good team this year. I was definitely wrong. And I can’t honestly make the excuse it is all because Jaylen Brown is out injured. Back to the drawing board.

And because of continuing attacks on valiant police officers, on their bodies and integrity, recruiting is down.

The Answer:

The Babe hit his final three for the Boston Braves. Bonus: Stevie in a flowing gown moving wispishly around the stage had as her biggest hits #1 Stop Draggin’ My heart Around followed by Dreams, Leather and Lace, Talk to Me, Stand Back, Sara, Rhiannon, Edge of Seventeen, I can’t Wait and Rooms on Fire. I personally like Sara and Leather and Lace (with Don Henley). Extra Bonus: The Pitcher’s Best friend is the Double Play.

One of the most important critical “infrastructures” that should be funded is police departments. Urban chaos is as destructive as falling bridges.

A nice little tune that soothes, to ease the tension.
