Slippery Slopes:

Today's Tids Issue 4,903

The Loonies are Loose:

“The Street” s looking for big April Jobs umbers tomorrow. If they miss “Big”, how much will that set the scenarios for the markets going forward. You might say that tomorrow is possibly a turning point day.

Yet, there is this overall atmospheric feeling of everything moving forward.  Except for those who’d rather live with a Gov no-work paycheck. But I have this sense that momentum will be the secret ingredient we have on our side going forward. That mighty Mo will  get us through the storms that may occur during the next twelve months.

I like to get back into wearing sorts as soon as possible. Today was not the day, even though it looked like it might be. April and May have a way of fooling you.

.

The Question:

In 1954 the 4-Minute mile barrier was broken. Who did it?

The Headlines:

--Stocks Come Back; Investors Awaiting Tomorrow’s April Jobs Report Now Anticipated To Be 995,000.

--Biden Admin “Commits To A Waiving Vaccine Patent Protections.

At this point it appears that Joe B is masterminding a 180 degree turn around in America, The White House continually sends the bipartisan message, and it was echoed here yesterday by vesting Kamala, but the fact remains that thee policies so far appear to bee anything but bipartisan.

Yesterday Moderna stock dropped 24 pits. That was after it was said that the White House and Biden supports waiver of patent protection for Covid-19 Vaccines. The stock markets prefer peace and quiet, and hands off government. But they may be taking another path as they look at this Admins idea of business reality. Just before the patent declaration, a day earlier words from Treasury Secretary Yelled drove the markets into a pit, before later retracting her words about overheated markets. Biden wants to redistribute wealth but if he keeps butting into business, may be no more wealth.

We have a heroine emerging though. Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel pushes back at USA Looniness saying Intellectual property must be supported. She doesn’t think that Joe B has the multi-National support to take down entrepreneurship ingenuity!

The patent waiver essentially takes the capital investment incentive out of business decisions and replaces it with government mandates. Is that any way to run a free enterprise economy?

In case you haven’t heard, Bill and Melinda’s split is not a friendly one. At least that’s the word out of the press. By the time the press finishes reporting on it, it will be unfriendly.

Judging by some recent press releases about nothing, it appears that the producers of Succession are finally getting ready to begin the long awaited season 3. Yay!

Hyperbolic reporting: Yesterday the live TV reporter covering the Kamala visit said, “the ‘crowds’ are eagerly waiting for a glimpse of the Vice President. The crowd the camera was seeing was a well dispersed 23 people.

That said, Kamala showed some smarts in the way she answered the questions of a pretty savvy newsman later in the broadcast.  But of course, lots of people exhibit smarts. It’s the ideology they adhere to that represents the problem.

Peloton looks like it could be in trouble. On one hand, I believe that all problems do not lay o at the feet of the of the manufacturers, as lawyers would have you believe. Somehow, we always avoid blaming the users of products who are often guilty of not using common sense On the other hand, I can envision a simple solution to their problem which they probably should have thought of earlier.

Have you read about the fringe going after Disney saying that Prince charming dd Not have Sow White’s permission to kiss her. Arrrrrrrrggggh!

If you see people shuffling around the city or town with furrowed brows slowly shaking their heads, it isn’t the walking dead. It’s the walking defeated who just  can’t believe some of the loony stuff they are hearing from the wokers.

The Answer:

Every once in a while, I like to slip in a really easy question. How come I didn’t know immediately that Roger banister was the man who first broke the 4 Minute mile. I thought it was Christian Bernard.

Younger people often ask me as they wonder where their country has gone, “It must have been nice when you were growing up,
