Warm thoughts in the air.

Today's Tids Issue 2,883
Opening Stuff:
I wonder if there is a dead email letter place. Where thoughts beautifully felt, lie, unopened. Never received. Thoughts drifting through the universe. Feelings from the heart aloft, warming the environment. Brightening the sun. Beautiful meaningful thoughts of love that someday in years to come, might be plucked out of these streams to nowhere; may bring a smile to a face at a time when a body needs an unfettered smile.

Phrase that should be sent to electric chair: "Victimless Crime". I cringe every time I hear it as an excuse to ameliorate deliberate criminal actions.

Now that we have successfully fallen off a cliff, I'm reminded of better times and this quote by Ronald Reagan, "Whatever history may say about me when I'm gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts." The great leaders of our history, from Washington to Lincoln to FDR, raised up the people when they needed lifting; urged them forward when they need prodding; gave them strength when faced with tough decisions. The greatness of America came from great Presidents of all parties working for all people.

The Question:
Who are the Top Ten World Billionaires? Who Are the Three newcomers to the Billionaire list.

The Headlines:
--Markets Uncertain In Early Trading; Slowdown Measures In China May Kill Demand For US Products.
--US Drought Areas Shrinking After Winter Moisture.
--Romney In First Appearance Since Election Rips Obama; Says Prez Missed Opportunity To Lead.
--Prez names Three To Cabinet Posts: Framer Clinton, Walmart, B&M Gates Operative Sylvia Burwell To OMB head; MIT Prof Ernest Moniz To Energy Sec; EPA's Gina McCarthy To Agency Administrator.
--Huge Bomb Blast Kills Dozens In Pakistan; Syria Soldiers Killed In Border Bomb Blasts.
--Machete Wielding Gangs Kill At Least 15 In Kenyan Election Day.

You are going to hear unctuous news people bandying about the word "Furlough" a lot in the days and weeks to come. For instance, I heard this morning here, that "...1,500 civilians on the (local) Navy base will be furloughed." This particular reporter was honest enough to add, that "furlough in this case means that each employee could lose one paid work day per month". In other words, probably less time away from the job than bargained-for sick days.

Number 13 on the billionaire list is New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg ($26 Billion) and he may be battling George Soros for the most dangerous man in America title. Bloomberg is funding candidates across America who think like his nanny mind. He is hoping to bring NYC suffocating government liberalism to the rock ribbed Midwesterners. Remember when those going West were hardy pioneers, eventually creating something beautiful out of empty land. Now they dilute self-determination, the backbone of the country we knew.

Name of the week: Providence College woman's Hockey player -- Victoria Virtue. Sounds like a great comic strip for she and crusading partner Moral Molly.

I have always wondered why people who read the NY Times (And follow Bloomberg) were so myopic. I believe now I have found the answer...people dwelling in that beast called Manhattan are always looking down tunnels of grey stone and glass. City living is a narrow viewpoint.

Interesting note that the folksy Trader Joe's market is a property of the 18th richest man, Europe's owner of Aldi Supermarkets Karl Albrecht. Another interesting note is the fall Ikea's Ingvar Kamprad from 4th richest on Forbes list in 2007 to 162nd on the new list. His own lawyers have produced documents that say his Lichstenstein Foundation's $17 Bil provides no benefit to him or his family. So, he has a mere $6 billion. Unless of course you listen to Bloomberg and his Bloomberg Billionaire's Index: Kamprad is listed at 5th with $42.6 billion. But then, listening to Bloomberg makes no sense at all.

The Answer:
Number one with $73 Billion is Carlos Slim Helu (Telecom American Movil and more). Bill Gates held on to second place, but Warren Buffet dropped from 3rd to 4th in favor of fashion tycoon Amancio Ortega. 5 is local summer resident Larry Ellison who is followed by Charles and David Koch tied for 6th at $234 Bil. At 8 is Li Ka Shing (Asian Energy Holdings), 9 is Lilane Bettancourt (L'Oreal) and 10 is Bernard Arnault (Moet, Hennessy, Louis Vuitton). The three newest additions to the list are Diesel jeans Renzo Rosso, retailer Bruce Nordstrom and designer Tory Burch. The 1,426 billionaires are worth $5.6 Trillion.Check em' all out:

I have billions of happy thoughts a year. It helps with procrastination.

Where is Queen Elizabeth on the list of World's Richest People? She isn't. She has personal wealth of about $500 million. She has access to well over $10 billion of what appear to be personal assets, (Buckingham Palace ($5 bil), but are in fact assets of the crown. She isn't doing bad. I'm really not worried.
