Life’s Nuances.

Today's Tids Issue 4,192
For Precious Moments:

I remember how my life changed for the better when in 1950 I discovered button-down oxford shirts.

From what I can tell, the only big news coming out of last Tuesday’s elections was the performance of moderate Democrat candidates who successfully held the progressive upstarts at bay. Those leftist darlings of the coastal press, were usurped by the rational voting of the American people. The bad news for the Repubs is that it is harder to beat Moderate Dems.

Happy 90th Birthday to the great Bob Cousy, a court magician who changed basketball.

I don’t know if I can say Muslim and not be declared a xenophobic reactionary, but it sure looked like an Islam operation that was training kids to be potential shooters in classrooms. The story disgusted those who saw that news item yesterday, but it is the new reality – people who hate America looking for ways to bring about spectacular, horrendous terror.

“Back to School” advertising is on the increase, and that can only mean that the nights will become cooler as the summer wanes. There is nothing bad about that.

The Question:

The New England Patriots play on TV tonight, and I can hardly wait.

Considering access to the Internet, and even day time soap operas, the “R” rating for movies just doesn’t seem that meaningful in these new anything goes times.

Are we there yet? That is the cry of yesteryear as bored children become restless in the back seats on the back roads of America. But today we nary hear a peep, and it’s more like, “Are we here already? Can I stay in the car to finish my movie.”

I read where Colorado highway police chemical readers can now determine quantities of THC in bloodstreams as well as alcohol. Marijuana users cry, “We’re different. We’re not affected.” Some even say that THC improves driving. The police, those who who always see the tragic results of impaired, are saying, “Are they nuts?”. Now the battle will be to determine just what amount of THC is considered dangerous to the health of others on the road.

One megawatt of solar power will provide energy to 130 homes. It takes 6 acres of land to produce one megawatt. Talk about inefficient land use.

John Kasich Is looking like he is running for President, and some of his negativity aimed at DT during the recent Ohio election didn’t help the Repub. Now, I can accept his “Never Trump” stance, but I don’t know why he would want to reduce the power of Repubs in Congress, especially if he really believes he can be president. Just one more case where hatred breeds stupidity.

For the many politicians who espouse transparency, they were in fact talking about the ability to be invisible.

The Answer:
Even the most pro-America sports and tennis fan had to appreciate the Aussies playing in the 1960’s. They were not only dominant, but they were fun to watch. There will always be arguments about which one was the greatest – Rod Laver, Roy Emerson, Frank Sedgeman, John Newcombe, Ken Rosewall, Lew Hoad, Tony Roache, Neal Frazier, Margaret Smith (Court) or Yvonne Goolagong (Cawley). Those were the Golden Years’ players under the tutelage of coach Harry Hopman, another world tennis all time great.

I have been buoyed by a simple smile. I have achieved from a gentle nudge. Hold your treasures.
