Smilin’ through the peat moss.

Today's Tids Issue 4,344
Begorrah!

Like it or not, this is the weekend when the Irish sing. It is always a happy tune, of shamrocks and smilin’ and shaleilieghs. The sun in the heavens above shines brightly, and the eyes of Leprechauns glimmer like the gold in their troves at the end of rainbows. Alas, the beer flows; the whisky warms happy hearts; the songs grow louder. Ahh, though the lads and lassies, arms around waists hold each other sturdy and tall, until the last drip of golden brew, and the last note fades away oer the Irish Sea. Beannachtai na Feile Padraig oraibh!

As predicted in the Tids months ago, the press has officially begun their adulation fixation for Beto O’Rourke. He’s got the charisma they say. And, he has proven he has the power to dig deeply into the pockets of the money gods. Which really makes charisma work! But, I’ve been watching him, because I like anybody wants to learn what’s behind the second coming of Camelot. I’m seeing a pretty ordinary person with now real purpose for the people in mind. A smiling young lad who doesn’t seem particularly strong answering fairly simple questions. But I’m certainly not a factor. It will be all of the younger generation who are willing to hop upon the back of his skateboards and take a spin. He will be a factor.

An Irish guy wondered what his parents did when they were bored before the era of the internet. He asked his 18 brothers and sisters, and they didn’t know either!

The Question:
What was the name of the whale that swallowed Geppetto and Pinocchio? Bonus: What does Palos de la Frontera mean to you?

Beto likes to ride a skateboard. Do you know what can be awfully annoying? It’s skateboarders on sidewalks in cities and towns.

Selling homes is easiest in Sunnyvale Cal, San Jose, Fremont Cal, San Fran and Oakland. And the average prices in those cites ae crazy high.

“I drink to your health when I’m with you.
I drink to your health when I’m alone.
I drink to your health so often,
I’m starting to worry about my own!”

Wall Street is not terribly excited about Musk’s new Tesla Y. Musk is obviously a very smart and creative guy, but you just can’t wish it were so and move on.

I think the General Dempsey parting song down below is a pretty good way to set the tone for SP day this weekend. I think you will be surprised.

Reading Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--The Captive State had the chance to be pretty good, buy the story about a ten-year alien occupation of Chicago and the conflict between collaborators and dissidents seems to fall short.
--In general, almost all animated films attain strong acceptance and favorable reviews all over. Wander Park isn’t one of them. A little girl enters an imaginary amusement park in need, and tries with help from the animals put it back together. But, the story doesn’t hold up. But, I can’t imagine litle kids not liking it.
--Ash Is Purest White is a movie in three parts set in the criminal underworld of China: Part one the quick-witted hero and her mobster boyfriend stake out territory. They battle rivals and then expand out, where the film explains how abstract forces shape industrial lives. Pretty thoughtful film and well received.
--Five feet apart is a favored film of the folks It’s about two teens who fall love. Though in this case the two delightful kids have Cystic Fibroses which means they seriously endanger themselves if they get closer that five feet. A very nice movie.
--There is also a reasonably good Nancy Drew Mystery; ND and the Hidden Staircase.

The Answer:
I remember clearly the terror I felt when Geppetto and Cleo, and then Pinocchio, Figaro and Jiminy was swallowed by Monstro. I got over it without going to a school counselor. Bonus: Palos de la Frontera was the Spanish harbor from which Columbus sailed off in 1492 to discover the western hemisphere.

Beannachtai na Feile Padraig oraibh! “Blessing on Saint Patrick’s Day on you!

Raise a glass!
