Aimless? Subtlety Poignant?

Today's Tids Issue 4,361
Not Forever:

I think that part of the attraction of the “Masters Golf Championship” is that for people of the North it is the first time since the Fall they see real flowers growing in earth.

The Boston Red Sox are learning that they are not immortal.

I don’t know how else to say this: I just can’t comprehend Herman Cain for the FED board.

I don’t think this is the kind of lead-up to a candidacy announcement that Joe Biden had planned. That said, I don’t believe that the ruckus will have any effect on voters who want him as President.

Identity politics adherents hate the concept that there are good and bad people within all of their tribal divisions – gender, race, sexual orientations, ideological’s, unions and management, and divisions they have yet to invent. Regardless of how people re grouped, they are after all just people with human attributes good and bad --irrespective of how the left divides them against each other.

Delectably dangerous indulgence Twinkies was 80 years old over the weekend. It was originally Banana Cream filled. But, during WWII because of a shortage of the yellow fruit, the Hostess Company went to vanilla cream. Vanilla outsold the banana, so they stayed with it after the war. Don’t feel guilty eating a Twinkie today. Consider it a tribute to man’s gastronomical imagination.

The Question:
Major League Baseball is 150 years old this year. What was the first paid professional team?

China may be the solution to the illegal immigrant invasion and the Refugee game. Apparently, the big Asian country is building factories in Central America. starting with Panama. Maybe Honduras and Guatemala could use US foreign aid payments to bribe China into build plants in those countries, thus creating jobs for the discontented populace.

An elderly woman was at the funeral of her husband. The Undertaker asked how old he was. She said 98, two years older than me. I’m 96. “Hardly worth going home, isn’t it?”

This whole reparations thing is very disturbing. We have been reparating for decades under the guise of many social services programs and affirmative action. Al Sharpton is all for what would be a huge financial give-away. It’s probably because he has figured a way to get 25% of it.

What do we have…about a little under a year until the first Dem primary? Think about how much of the USA they will give-away for votes by then? Frightening!

The two podiatrists in town were arch rivals.

This could be the summer of everybody’s discontent, as nearly twenty Dem candidates batter each other in-between taking shots at the President. And Trump Tweeting back. Hitting balls in the woods on a golf course maybe the only way to get away form it all. Bad for the handicap. Good for the blood pressure.

And, Beto O’Rourke called Netanyahu a racist! Why? I thought Beto was supposed to be the intelligent candidate.

In the future we may only be able to find food stuff good enough to enjoy on the black market. While I was elated over the good news about Twinkies 80th, it was disturbing to read that Kellogg’s was forced to sell the quality Keebler’s brand, elves and all, and Famous Amos CC Cookies at a loss!  People just aren’t buying sweet treats anymore, said Kellogg. How depressing. “Hey Buddy, want a Fudge Stripe, cheap?”

I always wondered what happened to Khalifa Haftar.

Filo isn’t dough made by Greeks. It’s a bad economic sign. It’s about incoming dough (Revenue) slowing down in Rhode Island. Filo means first into a depression and last out of it. RI has been that indicator, and the latest economic stats are declining. And there is little in the state big enough to overcome and reverse downward momentum. But it could take a while. That is, if somebody hasn’t misspent the pothole reparation fund.

Notre Dame’s Women’s Basketball coach Muffet McGraw seems to have thing about men. Like, who needs them.

The unstoppable UConn Women’s Basketball Dynasty may be coming to an end. It happens. Empires crumble. Powerhouse companies dissolve. In sports, teams and leagues catch up. In women’s BBall, it began with a few teams and a limited talent pool.  Auriemma and UConn saw it and made it their own. Now women play all sports all the time. And there are now better coaches across the board and more important, schools committed to winning. (That’s code for M-o-n-e-y) Remember when the “Mighty Macs” of little Immaculata college in Pennsylvania were kingpins in basketball? The little college maximized a sport that at the time was in a vacuum. But, it didn’t take long for the big schools to step in and brush The Macs aside. It’s taken longer to get to UConn, but you can see it happening.

I just hope the women’s game doesn’t turn into men’s game.

The daily harangue over the Mueller report goes on endlessly. And the argument is between two sides, neither of which has seen the entire report. How insane is that, to waste everybody’s item for weeks arguing over ideological assumptions. I’m tuning out.

Believe it or not, my big college paper was about the strength and broad capabilities of General Electric. It would be much more interesting if I was writing it now. What an intriguing mess it has become. From perfect ot entirely flawed.

The Answer
In 1869, the Cincinnati Red Stockings took to the baseball diamond.

Mighty forces dominate and then they go away. And, it’s happening faster now than ever before.
