Over the back fence.

Today's Tids Issue 4,438
Tune in tonight:

Today is Mueller day. How will the news be spun this evening? That is the question.

Small personal incidents have become national events because somebody is always hovering with smart phone to make a movie.

One of the biggest sins of humans is overcooking fish.

Do you get the sense that animal advocates are panting to nice a picture of wild beats? Wild is the operative word. And eating and making love is what spurs them. Yesterday a nine year old girl at Yellowstone got much too close to a bison, was charged and hurled into the air. Homeonteh range

The Question:
Anna Paquin is a late thirty something already. What was the name of the movie that gave her fame as a young actress?

The Headlines:
--Stocks Lower As Boeing And Caterpillar Disappoint; Renewal Of China Trade Talks Could Spur Optimism.
--Mueller Talking To Nadler Committee.
--GOP and Dems Come Together With Plan To Help Reduce The Cost of Senior’s Drugs.
--Iran Says It Is Ready To Negotiate, But Will Not Consider Surrender By Any Definition The Term
--FBI Chief Wray Says China Is Serious Intelligence Threat.
--DoJ Launches Big Tech Antitrust Investigation.
--Neil Armstrong Family Awarded $6 Mil In Wrongful Death Suit; Suit Said Nurse Mistakenly Detached Wires To His Pace Maker Which Led To His Premature Death.

Social media communications allow extremes to dominate and appear as general public opinion. Meanwhile, the public is busy doing people things, like praying, playing and allaying fears together. Like sitting before fireplaces, making snowballs and sandcastles. Absorbing the laughter of children. Saying. I love you; You look beautiful/Handsome tonight.

One person’s child abuse is another person’s preparing their child for a challenging world.

Did you know that a very capable food historian from a major Ivy League University says that Howard Johnson’s was one of America’s most transformative restaurant concepts? And so many took it for granted. Remember Howard Johnson’s? Remember 24 Ice cream flavors.

Did you hear about the magician who wanted to incorporate a trap door into his act? It was just a stage he was going through.

BTW, Barr didn’t initiate a letter warning Mueller to stay within the bounds of his own report. Mueller asked for a letter from Barr warning him to stay within bounds of the report. So. Just about anybody how pays attention already knows what will be said. As I said earlier, now it is only about the reporting of it.

Now Dunkin’ Donuts is joining forces with “Beyond Meat”. It seems like many chains are looking to sign up with the fake meat company. So, now when you walk into a fast food company, who do you trust to give you what you like.

A room crowded with couples doesn’t have a single person in it.

Speaking of quandaries, what do you do if you are holding Boeing Stocks. Now, Boeing is a great company, and is certainly a leader in the world in a super-critical industry. But the 737 Max problem is certainly playing havoc with their current operations. I think you wait and sweat. The company has an order backlog of $474 Billion which includes 5,500 commercial planes. Last year they only delivered 90 planes compared to 194 the year before. Meanwhile they have to make whole injured airlines, and certainly take care of families who lost loved ones. It will also cost more to produce 737 Max planes in the future. But, they are still Boeing and have the ability rebound. It’s just a matter of how patient you are as an investor.

I like to think that the Tids brings you information beyond the ordinary, the water drip torture of the organized news outlets. But, until I stop talking about the weather and politics, I will be just like every other news analyst. Repetitive.

Now in order get an upper hand over opponents in the crowded Dem field, some panicked candidates are proposing a $20 minimum wage. Rod Serling had a name for this – The Twilight Zone.

It’s tough to do inventories in Afghanistan because of the tally ban.

In its own way, Alexa and others like her may be teaching our kids manners. She doesn’t understand directions when coming from a mouth full of food. Don’t talk with your mouth full!

Jeopardy should reevaluate their payoffs to contestants. Often very good players lose by a dollar or two and must walk away with $2K for 2nd place, or $1K for 3rd. Why not give the runner up 50% of the money they earned and the third-place finisher 25%! Actually, it wouldn’t bother me if they gave all contestants what they earned. I, being considerate, was only thinking of the show’s accountants.

Remember when incidents used to have a chance of being resolved quietly between disputing parties. Now they become a national harangue. Is a digital world a better world?

Today you can be sued for telling the truth if somebody or institution feels wronged by having the truth about them revealed publicly.

The Answer:
Anna Paquin became famous in what I still think of as a weird little movie – The Piano. At just 11 years old, she received the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for that role as Flora McGrath – the second youngest actress ever to receive an Oscar. BTW, do you know who was the youngest? Actually, Justin Henry (8 years) in Kramer vs. Kramer was the youngest but Anna was second in the actress category to Tatum O’Neal (10 Years). #3 at 16 was Patty Duke. On the boy side, the youngest after Henry were Haley Joel Osment (11) and Brandon de Wilde (11 – a few months older than Anna.

Brandon de Wilde. Wow. I saw Shane three times. I kept on coming back.
