What would the Presidents think.

Today's Tids Issue 5452

I hope we're ok:

You always know who's a friend

It's when you somehow meet again.

And feel that something special there.

And know it will never end.

I hope that before I die, Dagwood finally gets a raise.

Happy President's Day, Everybody. Buy a car.

A USA leading authority on Alzheimer's and the resultant Dementia, the Head of Neurology at Harvard Med, Brigham and Womans and Mass General Hospitals, Reisa Sperling, said at a lecture I attended Saturday that the best ways to maintain a healthy brain are exercise, Sleep and having fun with other human beings. She mentioned that crosswords and other puzzles are fun but have not been proven to help. All the other theories and magic elixirs are just theories and myths. But the good news is, she says, is that she and many others are making significant real progress in teh fight and are finding solutions that will lead to reducing the effects of Alzheimer's, and who knows. Curing it. She is that confident. Oh, and by te way, if you like blueberries, tou are on a good path.

One of the classic pieces of music that always stimulates my brain and excites my spirit is Franz Liszt’s Les Preludes.

The Question.

Happy Presidents Day. What a farce. It’s all about spending dollars with Presidents faces on the bills. Name the Bills featuring presidential pusses.

The Headlines:

--Stocks Taking a Breather.

--Californians Flooded.

--Navalny Widow Vows to Continue his Fight.

--Nation Mourning Police and Fire Officers Killed in Ambush.

--1 Dead, 5 Wounded in Indianapolis Waffle House.

The reason it seems that Alzheimer's is looking like a pandemic lately is simply because people are living longer. It's not plastic or Covid. All brains slow down with age, unfortunately some more dramatically than others.

There are many people who learn from the mistakes of others. And then there are the hapless “others”.

And then there are those who never learn.

Does anybody care who wins the NBA All Satr game except gamblers. In case you missed it, it was a farce with the East winning 200-186.

Cailin Clarke is an Iowa girl playing basketball for her home state University of Iowa. Isn't that kind of cool in these days of an increasingly rootless society. And she is amazing.

In case you are interested, Michaelangelo would be 460 years old. You have to wonder which artists of today would be remembered 460 years from now. If their works aren't bastardized by AI.

The push to streaming channels is not an altruistic move to make our lives easier and more fun but a strategic shift to a new method to aid to marketers in their drive to get more personal data to better define the buying inclinations of potential customers. Believe me, being an old advertising and publishing guy, this has aways been the main objective underlying marketing strategies.

God help us, Department:

Isn’t it looking like the latest politicians’ ploy is about who can out promise the other in raising the minimum wage teh highest. Holy civilized society decline, Batman. The candidates in the race to take the seat vacated by Feinstein are promising outer worldly Min wage increases. Really out there the pledge by candidate Barabra Lee, whose poll numbers are entirely stagnant, to fight for a $50/hr federal minimum wage Her opponents Dems Kate Porter and Adam Shiff and Repub Steve Garvy (Yes, that Steve Garvy) also seem ok hikes in the $20-$25 range. The current Fed wage is $7.75. So, it appears the Soviet Socialist California wants the rest of the nation's sate’s economies to crumble to bail out the golden state's foolishness. It should never happen but the scary thing is that so called leaders of this nation think you can have an economy with artificial wage creation.

One thing I have learned in my lifetime is that there are really smart and talented people residing on every square in our wonderful US of A.

After three minutes of Peoples Choice last night, it was proven to me once again why I will not watch entertainment award shows any more.

You can improve your brain through exercise, being happy with flesh and blood people and sleep. I think my naps are working. Maybe I'll try moving quickly in public next.

It seems there is a bit of a price war going on in the EV car market. It appears the wealthy early adopter crowd market is much saturated meaning EV makers must set pricing to attract real people. It will be good for the pocketbooks of the folks and hopes and dreams of greenies, but Wall Street is worried about how it will dramatically affect the enormous profits of Tesla and the very existence of smaller companies like Lucent and Rivien. Welcome to the real world.

Highway and Bridge construction companies in RI are the biggest contributors to state politicians. RI has the worst roads in New England, and our bridges have been a National disgrace. Hmmm.

The Answer:

The Presidents on bills are George Washington - $1; Jefferson is on the $2 bill; The $5 dollar has Abe’s handsome face and Andrew Jackson is on the $20. US Grant is on the $50. Non-Presidents Ben Franklyn and Alexander Hamilton are on the $10 and $100 respectively. With the high price of cars, maybe we should rename it Alexander Hamilton Day.

Hope you came through the day ok. And have lots of Presidential faces still in your wallet.
