I remember that.

Today's Tids Issue #2,357
Opening Stuff:

Have you ever noticed how little actions produce big memories. Like slicing a piece of asiago cheese reminds you of a wonderful person who first suggested it to you. Or putting on a tie that brings back an image of a particularly great happening. And then there's always a box of Cheez-its that reminds of the time you had to check in to rehab for snack addiction.

Ok...I admit it, when I want float in the clouds and feel the warmth of the sun in my heart, I always put on Brahms. In particular, the 2nd movement of his fourth symphony will always get you there.

The Question:

The Dancing With the Stars fans voted for their all-time top ten favorite dances. What do you think they are. (For good fans only.)

Back to More Stuff:

In response to my piece about Mormons yesterday, a good Republican reader sent in these comments: "I have dear Mormon friends here in SD; they are absolutely awesome and fabulous and Loren has but one wife! The R's are stupid to throw Mitt under the train, but I believe they will again ... and O will get in for a second term and then it's all over! I can't deal with stupidity!" I couldn't have said it better.

American Idol: I thought each of the three had great moments. Haley's first was so dominating that the others while good appeared amateur to her professionalism. Frankly I am a big Stevie Nicks fan, but I was disappointed with Haley's effort there. Lauren's middle and last songs were riveting. Scotty was his consistent self throughout. I believe the country voters/young girl combo will make Scotty a shoo-in. That will probably take away mostly from Lauren. so it will be a Scotty-Haley Final? Let's hope so. It's the way it should be. Sorry Lauren. I love you anyhow.

If I were casting a new TV program I give strong consideration to hiring people who get along well together when the camera isn't on. No star is so good that the rest of the cast should have put up with ego mania and arrogance.

Almost Near: Chapter 21 continues. --Audrey sat there looking at Mrs. Quimpierre, a large woman and mostly disheveled, actually pretty in some unusual way. She wondered if the woman made her own clothes from patterns her mother, or maybe grandmother, bought in the forties! She smiled at she thought and looked over at Tucker who was trying to charm Mrs. Quimpierre with no luck. "So do you have a first name I can call you instead of Mrs. Quimpierre?"
"No. Just look at me when you ask and I'll know who you're talkin to. That doesn't sound too hard, does it?"
Tucker took a deep breath. "Ok. What did you think of Rudy's wife?"
"I though she looked like an Easterner. Sounded like one too."
"And?"
She always looked scared, even before they were married. I never thought much of Rudy's choice. Oh, she probably was a nice person. But, not Rudy's type."
"Why not."
Rudy always went around with dummies like that sister of his. You met her. She was the one taggin' along after Bounty." She stopped and stared at Tucker. The she looked over at Audrey. "You're a tough broad, aintcha." Audrey did say a word. She just stared back.
"Well, that Sam -- we called her Sam -- seemed a little too refined for Rudy. I didn't think the marriage would work. There was something about Rudy she must have liked, but I couldn't tell you what it was. Rudy was a handful."
"Handful?"
"Yeah, handful." Tough on his mother." She paused and looked around as if making sure Rudy or somebody wasn't there. "He was really rough with women."

I look at teen dress and I think, yup that scientific report about the late teen development of the frontal lobe of the brain is probably real true. The frontal lobe has to do with reasoning and rational judgements.

Maybe there is hope. The senate blocked passage of an an action that would take back tax incentives from the oil industry. It was one of those gaggy hysterical political moments where the lawmakers piled on to poke sticks in the eyes of "monster" oil, hold expensive, useless hearings and propose an action that would do absolutely nothing about reducing the price of gasoline at the pump. And, there's no more gutless foursome that the RI contingent of posturing puppets. They just posed for a pic in front of gasoline tank farm in a transparent attempt to turn profits into a dirty word. They have no idea about how to solve the problem, and if they do, they just don't have the stomach for making decisions that go against their puppet-masters or their ideological constituents.

Just to let you know where I'm coming from, I think Wall Street has for years, decades, misconstrued the profit incentive with their fixation on short term gains versus intelligent long term reinvestment and growth.

Duh headline of the Week:
"Schwartzenegger's legacy likely tainted."

The End:
If you see people gathering weirdly on May 21, you're looking at groups of believers waiting for the end of the world. If you see atheists gathering wildly, you're looking at Rapture Parties spoofing the believers. And the beat goes on.

Love your day, and do some little things that evoke big, beautiful memories.
