“There’s something missing from My Bouquet, she said lackadaisically.”

Today's Tids Issue 3,352
Opening Stuff:

This morning at dawn, with the soft early sun sculpting images in long shadows across dew laden green in the cool refreshing air, It was like walking in a painting masterpiece; it could be a Renoir or a Homer, a Wyeth or an Innes. The new growth had become lush and vigorous, yet still feeling like the newness of spring, before the assault of the Summer heat. Hedge rows divided grassy fields for miles, until being devoured by oceans edge. It was so perfect, that I often just stopped, and stared this truly startling, yet simple uncluttered beauty. The kind you can feel in your heart.

You may have noticed that I often write about Cheetos and Gravy. It’s not simply my love of great food that moves me to sucj exhalations, but my higher mission to speak out for all those persecuted who also love real food -- meat potatoes gravy, and yes vegetables. Everybody in this great nation needs a voice, and for some inexplicable reason these souls’ of simplicity are left scrambling for their dignity neath the assault and accusations of the self anointed. The tids is here for all of you that like food that tastes good; basic food groups without intruding nuances. You are not alone. Eat the way you want to eat.

It isn’t just “Big Brother Watching”… it ‘s “Big Mau” too. Feeling paranoid yet?

On Saturday, Frosted, Materiality, Mubtaahu, Madefromlucky, Tale of Verve, Keen Ice and Frammento all will be trying to stop mighty American Pharroah from becoming a triple Crown Winner – the first since 1978. AP is at 3-5, and I believe he is that strong. To this unknowledgeable source, he just looks like a horse who can get the job done. Frosted (5-1), Materiality 96-1) and Mubtaahu (10-1) are the primarily contenders. I’ll be sitting there with my crock of Cheese Balls.

I think that people work much too hard trying to name horses. How about Jerry, or Charlie?

The judges on America’s Got Talent seem a little more subdued, with host Nick steppin to the sidelines a bit more often, letting the viewer actually see the performer! At least in the few segments I’ve watched. They are not quite done with the weird act portion, so it will be a while until I start rating the acts. Now the emphasis seems to be on featuring demographic segments, like old people and youths and those with handicaps. Some are good, and all are at least getting into the next round. This is the diversity segment of the show. But, I like the show, mainly because once they get moving some of the acts are really enjoyable and often new an refreshing. The best way to watch this is to DVR it and watch acts only.

Back 1954, every kid on the schoolyard hoops courts where I lived were talking about Bevo Francis. And every one of us, from Bonnie Earl to Dukie Falcino were trying to perfect the Bevo Hook shot. (Remember Hookshots?) Why not, Bevo had just scored 113 points in a game for little Rio Grand college. The college Hall of Famer died yesterday, but the fabulous memories of the great scorer who emerged out of nowhere, putting a microscope on the small southern Ohio town and elevating it to an upbeat national discussion. Yes, that was Ohio, not Texas! Clarence “Bevo” Francis was a hero. I remember my happy days as Bevo. The year before I was Dickie McGuire, or was that Bob Cousy?  Before that I was shooting like Max Zazlofski, but never tried to emulate God,  Tom Gola.

I heard of a person who had their health Insurance cancelled because they made a mistake writing the check, forgetting the 32 cents. Te government agency didn’t call the person to say bring in 32 cents. They really didn’t seem to understand the insignificance of the error, and they were unable to make a decision without passing it through 6 or 7 levels of management. That’s what happens when you have government running things like health insurance. Rational thinking disappears.

Why would I eer want a self driving car? Hell, I get nervous when humans I know and like are driving. “Recalculating”  – Crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrash!

Reading between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--I’m really not a big Melissa McCarthy fan, and I expect there will be plenty of her poddy mouth intruding upon what is said to be a pretty good movie. In Spy, a parody on Bond, McCarthy plays an unassuming deskbound CIA analyst who is the unsung hero behind the many of the agency’s most dramatic achievements, until she is thrust into the real world and goes undercover to find two missing agents and stop a world disaster. Sounds good, but will I be able to take all of the McCarthy.
-- I don’t know anything about the HBO hit Entourage, but it appears that this movie version is a giant letdown, even for most ardent fans. Stay away, they say. As you may know, the theme of the show and movie is about the rising star and the hangers on, and their antics. Little works in this film.

The Answer:
Mining Lost a lot of jobs, 18,000, and Information Services lost 3K. All of the rest increased with the top five being 1. Education and Health (74K) 2. Professional and Business Services (63K) 3. Leisure and Hospitality (57K) 4. Retail (31’4K) 5. Government (18K). Construction was just behind Gov with 17K. Bonus: Yosemite is number 1. Next is Yellowstone followed by Lake Mead, Grand Canyon, Great Smoky Mountains, Grand Tetons, Olympic National Park in Washington, Joshua Tree (Cal), Glacier (Mont) and #10, Zion National Park.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!
