Goofyness masking accomplishment.

Today's Tids Issue 3,866
For Patches!:

If you ever feel that inner light welling up within your being, use it well. Hell, you may be a Quaker and never knew it.

I was making a list of things children no longer have to learn to exist in today’s society: How to tell time, Cursive writing, Manners…wait, Manners? Oh, wait a minute, I didn’t say “ to live in a civilized society, did I.”

Speaking of misguided focuses -- A father was issued a summons for using a plastic baseball bat to deflect a Canada Goose that was clearly attacking his four-year-old son. Animal rights are clearly out of hand. I think we need an executive order protecting humans from Peta.

Glen Beck is thinking of a new book called “Killing O’Reilly.” Beck got the former Fox mega-host laughing at that jest in an interview a couple days ago.

The Question:
Who was the first US President to install electronic recording of Oval office conversations and why? Bonus: Where were the FDR, Churchill and Stalin Talks: The Baltics, Malta Or Yalta? Extra Bonus: Who was the first President with electricity in the White House?

Assimilation of the universe of varying human demographic designations has been the bedrock of the freest country in civilization. That’s us. But In a new version of conquer and divide, Harvard will hold a Black only graduation ceremony. So now it’s Equal but separate, instead of separate but equal. There is way too much thinking going when the solutions are so obvious. Maybe we have to start looking for less intelligent universities for workable answers.

I’ll tell you what is a nice little mind relaxing interlude, tension draining musical respite – the Adagietto, the Fourth of five movements from Mahlers 5th Symphony.

I was standing in my garage looking at the rows of small and large Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi bottles large and small, Sunlit caramel colors soft and comforting, standing proudly before a scenic back drop of mountains of gaily colored Cheeto and Potato Chip bags, and I ‘m thinking: This is what hell must look like to a nutritionist!

59 years ago yesterday, VP Richard Nixon and his wife Pat were spat upon, and their limo battered by rock throwing anti US activists while riding through Caracas Venezuela on an official State visit. I think the activists have moved to the USA. And nothing has changed in socialist Venezuela.

I made a conscious decision at the beginning of this year to move the Tids to the center in the hope that we can achieve unity by talking and listening to each other. But I have found that the left has absolutely no desire to touch the feelings of the so-called opposition.

By the way, Venezuela’s last pile of assets, Citgo, maybe in shreds as that state-owned company was pledged as collateral against many loans now in or close to default. Ah socialism.

Speaking of socialism, Ben Franklyn once said*, “Those who would give up liberty for a little temporary safety get neither…” French, German or Swedish style health care not only puts your health needs into the hands of a bureaucracy, but also puts the government’s hands deeply into the pockets the citizens. The highest social spending states have the highest real taxes: France – 57.4%, Belgium – 56.9%, Germany – 52.3% and Sweden 47%. The average gasoline tax for EU countries is $2.63. In the US the real tax is 20.3% and the Fed gas tax 53 cents. In the US almost half of the citizen pay no income tax. Not so in social services countries. For Example: Pew Research says that in Belgium a married couple, one working at the average national wage and the second at 2/3’s of it, with two kids bears a total burden of 38.3% In the US, a similar family is at 19.4%. In other words, Government health care ain’t free. I have many more numbers about what goes away for a little safety.

Some people think the biggest problem in society is congress. Many others think it is the lowering of standards for all – educational, ethical, moral, performance, commitment; where people seem to think, Freedoms negate responsibility. “I can get by with a little help from my friends.’

Isn’t it kind of neat that the U.S. is Us…with a capital U and Me. Us as in we folks with no prefix. Us is us no matter how us is making up the U and S. the best of US is United, not Separated or classified. I guess somebody is making a good living separating people, flipping us into su with an e. That is all I can think of why somebody would understand the succinct rationale of USA – Us and Anybody. Legal, that is.

When a person says, “I graduated from Harvard”, I’m now tending to think his or her mind is muddled.

DT may not be exactly like Andrew Jackson after all. Jackson as a youth was an apprentice tailor, and while President he made his own suits! Maybe Trumperino should use his fingers stitching hems instead of tweeting gems.

Yesterday, Si Woo Kim was just the latest talented Asian golfer to win a big Golf tournament, But as good as these golfers from across the sea are, they will have to do a lot more to catch the all-time winningest Asian golfer, Tiger Woods.

The folks around here are cheering the removal of telephone poles at one of the unspoiled ocean beaches. I have long ago learned to filter out man made obstructions to beautiful natural scenery. Nature lets you see beyond man’s marring. I guess landscape artists will be the happiest.

George Soros may have finally taken that step too far, which will finally awaken the inactive volcanic ire in the normally controlled, reserved Conservatives and Republicans. I have to imagine that many people are already working to bring down the liberal billionaire. And people Like O’Reilly and Beck will be leading the cheers, and creating the doubts about Soros business legalities. Just something to look in this new world of bitterness.

Islam is becoming even more dominant in the Middle East as more and more Christians are rushing to the exits. It also means that the Israeli’s could become more vulnerable to a purer Islamic world around them.

I’m hearing that a lot of people, including huge groups of non-Trump supporters are feeling that SNL has lost its way, has given up its comedic soul for gratuitous insults that barely meet any standards for even the lowest forms of anything humorous.

The Answer:
FDR was the first President to order eavesdropping in the Oval Office. It seems that NY Times, yes that NY Times, had misquoted him and he said never again. Nothing has changed much has it. I wonder if Dems would call FDR a Nutcase? Bonus: Yalta in Crimea Soviet Union was the site of the big three allies meeting during WWII. See, Putin only wanted Crimea back to preserve History. Whatta Guy! Extra Bonus: Benjamin Harris was the president who first experienced electricity in the WH. But there was one problem. He was afraid of electricity and never turned on a light switch!

*The Ben Franklyn quote has many interpretations depending on the point being made by any given writer. I have found some who say it was about William Penn not wanting to pay taxes on his land holdings, and another said it was about the basic disagreement between Britain and the colonies over self-government. I used it for creeping socialism.

I’m hoping that your browsers aren’t upping their “Blocking” procedures which would disqualify your morning Tids elixir.

“Geese are but geese tho’ we may think ‘em swans; and truth will be truth tho’ it sometimes prove mortifying and distasteful.” Ben Franklyn
