Today's Tids Issue 3,875
For Yankee Doodle Dandies:

Well, Happy Memorial Day, Everybody! I like this morning at the end of May, sitting on the curb alongside of Main Street next to my Grandson watching all of the “goodies” go by. That’s what he calls them -- The soldiers, the Sailors, Marine and Air Force; and around her the Coast Guard, too—“Goodies”. He likes to jump up and salute, standing rigid and serious. His “goodies”. Next he starts smiling as the firemen and the policemen march by, with their blinking cars lights and big red trucks; and sirens. He doesn’t think much of the Troop of Brownies, struggling to maintain their straight lines, but the smiles on their faces tell me they love being among all the goodies of the day. Memorial day is a people’s day kind of parade, with great school bands and local organizations, all remembering the many as one, in one big downtown get-together. So, Happy Memorial day. Hope your Hot Dogs and Hamburgers and Veggie Burgers are goodies too! Did I just say V-V-V…Veggie?

Kim Jung Un seems to see as his destiny becoming the ultimate suicide bomber.

This will be a short Tids day. I figure it’s hard to read the Tids at the beach under the glare of the sun. The sun?

Jaguar is doing a terrific job at redesigning its cars, and the new SUV.

20 years ago the average stock price hovered between $25 and $50/share. People always felt they could afford to get a few shares for a reasonable price. And if edged up, it was split. Today the share price average is $98. And that isn’t about to change as more companies are eschewing the old stock split idea, which tended to make holdings of many a stockowner of the late 1990’s vaster, thinking they were mini moguls. But now Owners and Founders of the tech high flyers love the high share prices to tickle their egotistical itch; like Amazon and Alphabet which are just under $1,000/share. Yes, for the super moguls it is just another scorecard.

The Question:
60 days ago today was the saddest day of all. Why? Bonus: Who was the first woman Indy 500 Race Driver?

Since it appears that learning cursive is no longer necessary for first grad students, I suggest a course in basic economics, starting with debunking the stuff grows on trees theory. Of course it doesn’t grow on trees, the youngsters would say,  you just hit the Amazon button and it appears on your doorstop. Life is good, until dad shows you the bill.

I just read my first Anti-Pence letter, actually an editorial from a guy in Toronto, as in Canada. You remember that the Tids has opined that this uproar that uses the President as a perfect foil, isn’t really about his inadequacies. The current daily drumbeat of rampant negativity is mainly to assure a liberal return to congressional power. Oh sure, part of the anger is liberals unable to accept rejection. They have always been unable to understand the brilliance of opposing theories. But the majority of the action is to regain a meaningful platform for their socialist policies. So the anti-Pence column mentioned above says, “Hey liberals you should be happy with Trump, because Pence, a hardline rightwing extremist, will be worse.”

Despite all of the government mandates it is nice to see that it is market forces that still determine the bulk of actions in the USA. The latest example: The bottom has dropped out of the recyclables market. It an expanding list of towns across the country it is now too expensive to make separate collections of trash and recyclables. Now in a growing number of communities, everything goes into the trash bin. The return is so low that recyclers can’t afford to turn on their separating machines. And, the money the towns projected to pay for the overall trash and recyclable system isn’t arriving the mail any longer.

I forgot to mention that all of those German car manufacturers with high US sales volume that President Trump complained about have factories in the US employing, guess – thousands of US workers. He should start using less Twitter and more Google.

As long as President Duterte is alive, there will always be somebody making more outrageous comments on the international stage.

Google and I will never get along. In addition to my constant battle against getting sucked into the Google system, I now hear that the mega manipulator says its AI will “offer suggested replies for email replies.” Yikes! You have my vital information and first born, now take away my personality too. Never!

I have vital information?

This morning I had that tingling all over thrill that comes from truly beautiful music. If ain’t got a melody, the words don’t matter. Yet today, I see people wanting to be indoctrinated by messages in songs instead of just enjoying the music. I see too many looking at entertainment for underlying meanings instead of a simple tension oozing moment. And, the entertainment industry is more than ever using their product against what would be, should be our sublime interludes. Bring back the melody.

The only lyrics I have ever remembered are “Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey, a kiddley divvy too, wooden shoe.” And they don’t mean nothin’.

Spell-Check has no idea about what I just wrote.

BTW, did you read where The Prez is excepted to hire a lawyer to vet his tweets.

All I ever have asked for in life is to have been fired by Ford. Their ex-CEO Mark Fields walked away with $51 Million.

Speaking of sticking with the tunes, I just read that the H&G “Fixer Upper” show is under attack by Lgbt organizations for not aiding in their cause by showing more non-straight couples. In response, the owners say the show is about what houses look like. You know…like simple, informative entertainment. However, you know how it all works now for all organizations that popularize feeling offended. Social media will create instant hysteria and even real journalists will force feed the misinformation on the people who just want to be entertained; intimidating them into actions like boycotting advertisers. People tune in to Joanna and Chip to find enjoyment in the antics and creativity of a saccharine couple with a fine family, good moral outlook and a nice sense of country decoration taste. What could be wrong with that. In fact most H&G shows are lie a soothing narcotic.

Since Trump has been elected President, the fastest growing demographic segment in the USA has been “unnamed sources”.

The Answer:
60 years ago this morning I awoke to learn that the Brooklyn Dodgers had officially moved to LA. It hurt, deeply. I gave up baseball. Oh yeah, like I was really rational. Sure. I learned pretty dramatically that everything isn’t forever, but I still have trouble getting over the loss of good old favorite things. Like melodies in songs. Bonus: How could anybody ever forget Janet Guthrie.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the Tids was beautiful melody and you wouldn’t have to put up with the words. I often try to write it like a song, but he world keeps crashing my party.

And then, there are words:
