Inward Resolution.

Today's Tids Issue 4.239
For opening our minds:

For the most part, I have been basically a generalist, a Jack of all trades but master of none. At times that might crimp earning power, but I always had the wonderful opportunity to see more things from a broader point of view. It is amazing what you can find if you look beyond yourself. And, and don’t know too much about anything.

Absentee balloting was a sensible solution to a considerable logistical problem. But, my gut tells me there is something intrinsically wrong with all of these “early voting” schemes of late. Maybe it’s because it is an idea from the “brains” of politicians.

“Human beings are far too prone to generalize from one instance. The technical word for this, interestingly enough, is ‘superstition’.” – Francis Crick. Hmmm. Today it is more likely to be a result of ideology.

The most dangerous political gimmick now in progress is the coordinated immigrant attack on our southern borders.

What’s the difference between baseball and politics? In baseball you’re out if your caught stealing.

The Question:
What was the first American organized labor group, and when and where did it take place? Bonus: Who were James D. Watson, Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins?

Since the big “DNA Expose, I have been getting 3-4 Elizabeth Warren Jokes a day. The latest this morning shows her in a full Indian Sari, red dot on forehead and all, with the caption: “I think there has been a misunderstanding.”:

Right now, I’m trying to figure out how I can get away with voting 10 times for a very fine RI Repub Senate candidate Bob Flanders without being caught.

“Only gradually did I realize that this (My) lack of qualifications could be an advantage. By the time most scientists have reached the age of thirty they are trapped by their own expertise. They have invested so much effort in one particular field that it is often extremely difficult, at that time in their careers, to make a radical change.” –Francis Crick.

For all of you Chip and Joanna fans, you may have heard that the enterprising 40 year oldish couple are still being aggressive in their businesses. They have bought an iconic million dollar building in the-center of Waco, and will be moving Magnolia HQ from the Silos. The Silo operation will be improved and expanded, most likely as the center for Chip’s tool and accessories businesses. The big Question is, how long can they stay relevant in a fickle America after their fixer upper shows stop running?

The National News last night reported on yesterday’s big celebration In Canada on the first day of legal recreational pot selling. In videos scanning the celebrants, I would have to say they all looked like the stereotypical pot smoker of the 70’s, except their hair is greyer. I’m not kidding. Of course, I would never profile any group.

Actually, the Dems are very could at profiling. You know, like their focus on things like deplorables, old white men and more you hear every day. Just this Tuesday after the state’s gubernatorial debate, our Gina’s press team issued the statement about the sitting gov’s performance: “Gina Raimondo did very well against a room full of mediocre men.”  Say what!

(Note: Of course, there are Repubs who can profile with the best of them, but I am a Repub, so I’m biased. Shoot me. Oh, wait, I shouldn’t say that so loudly these days.)

“How do I know what I think until hear what I say.” – Francis Crick

Frankly, I’m not very aware about this so-called anti-biotics in meat controversary. But it looks like the big burger fast food chains are really, really bad boys (and or Girls). Two companies received an “A” from Consumer reports – Shake Shack and BurgerFi. The best of the well-known bigs was Wendy’s who achieved a resounding score D-. All the rest were given “F’s”. (Note: MacDonald’s is poised to roll out new policy, so says management.

The idea behind this movement is to help slow the spread of anti-biotic resistant bacteria and help keep these critical medicines working effectively in cases where they are needed.

I asked my North Korean friend how it was there. He said he couldn’t complain.

I’m thinking of a “what if” headline the National news will never consider: Democrats blamed for hurricane Michael which wiped out voting opportunities for Panhandle deplorables. Wait a minute. I’ve gone off my rocker – I’m sounding like Rosie O and her mindless theory on the attack on Twin towers. But, mine is true.

Duh headline of the Week: Last night CBS news reported that, “Biden Condemns Trump Stance on Saudi Arabia.”

Saudi’s billionaires are a huge players in our tech industry with Uber and Tesla, plus any others, being happy recipients of the Sheiks and cousins oil money. Like Trump, their CEO’s are at a loss for words of generalized condemnation.

There was a lot of drama in last night’s Boston/Houston ACLS playoff game which ended appropriately with Benintendi’s diving catch of a sinking liner, with the bases loaded.

I always get sucked into headlining that say something like, “Evidence found that aliens have visited earth.”

The Answer:
The first organized labor group were the shoemakers of Boston in 1648. Bonus: These three very intelligent gentlemen were the folks who in 1962 won the Nobel for determining the double helix molecular structure of DNA, I wonder if they bought stock in Ancestry.

Francis Crick said, “The most dangerous man is the one who only has one idea, because then he will fight and die for it.”
