Rainy day Funding

Today's Tids Issue 4,635
Unknowns:

This a week for which I have been waiting for over a month now. It is the week that will bring us to real news and real discussions about events in sports -- The NFL Draft. Yes Thursday, Friday and Saturday sports fans once again can dissect, argue, interpret and rejoice about building their teams which will hopefully be competitive if in fact they play again in September. Watching sports is wonderful but always a bigger part is sharing the ups and downs and unknowns with friends. Yes, a win is a win but it is never enough until you see the same gleam of satisfaction in the eyes of a fellow fan. And this week we begin the new journey. Maybe.

Though, I’d rather be listening to the crack of a bat and the smack of a ball hitting a mitt.

There is no question that the race for the presidency is a great big question mark. One thing that Americans don’t do well is look ahead. Many businesses don’t do it well because of quarterly report measurements that dominate decision making. Governments don’t do well because they live “Pay check to paycheck” like most Americans. And in politics now, the news is so focused on Trump and Biden that bigger pictures are easily missed. So, with the serious uncertainty of a Trump win, I would advise every Repub and conservative in this country to look past the news harangue to refocus and work on electing or reelecting a Repub congressperson for senator. Period. That’s saving for a rainy day.

A Phd Biz management Professor Andrew Ward at Lehigh University wrote a very interesting theses called.  “Shift Happens”. The subtitle is “Ensuring Organizational Resiliency in a Disrupted Future.” It got me thinking a lot. Because it is a lot more than simply about business. There are numerous short-term events that radicalize disruptions to plans due to short to medium term events like 911, or short-term events like hurricanes and other natural disasters, possible outtakes of the long-term climate evolution. The election of a president is a short-term event, which drives planning for possible change over a four-year period. But I’m talking about what I call Macro-Actuarialism, the need to attempt a quantifying of long-term paradigm changes like those that may arise out of Covid, or yes, climate change (Whether cyclical or manmade) or possibly tectonic reactions. Or perhaps even less definitive, the long-term effects from Block Chain Technology, aspects of Artificial Intelligence, Social Commerce, and the very real shifting demographic balance in America. Saving for a rainy day is just not just a nice little idea for living, it is essential going forward in a new world of real unknowns, which are not quite as distant as they once were. This Covid intensifies that need for a spotlight that shines ahead.

And surveys now-a-days are asking, “Do you think that Coronavirus is bringing Americans together?” No, I’m just seeing that people are being more cautious about the way they insult each other.

I was quite impressed with the array of uniformed Air Force Academy Cadets at their Social Distancing graduation. It was one of those “Where there’s a will there’s a way” things.

If I were the American public, I would just dismiss all comments from politicians, because all they care about today is getting reelected in November. That way you wouldn’t think of them as totally inept, outrageous or incompetent, understanding, that it’s just what they do in silly season, And it rarely make sense, defies rational thinking.

Dominant news focusing tends to hold people’s minds hostage.

I always thought I’d make a good late-night comedian. But I could never stay up past 10 PM.

The Question:
Did you know that There is a National Bobblehead Museum in Milwaukee? Well you may have heard that they just announced that Dr. Fauci’s Bobblehead is the highest selling BD of all time!! What are the highest selling Political figure Bobblehead Dolls of all time? Bonus: Who is Jane Leeves?

The Headlines:
--Oil Drops To 22 Year Low, And That Has Stocks Slipping; Ventilators Will Be Needed For Many Gasping Retail Businesses.
--16 Killed In Shooting Rampage In Peaceful Nova Scotia.
--Wall Street Looking With Interest As Netflix Is Due To Post Earnings Today.
--New Yahoo/YouGov Poll: 60 % of Americans Including Majorities of Repubs Are Against Rush To Reopening Ameirica;71% Say they Are More Concerned About Lighting Restrictions Too Quickly Than Too Slowly; Only 25% Say They Agree With Trump’s Liberate Tweets;

--Russian Jet Makes Unsafe Intercept Of US Navy Aircraft; Comes Within 25 Feet Of US Plane.

Have you ever noticed how Democrats and leftists, instead of just presenting facts, tend to lecture Repubs and conservatives as if they have just landed from another planet, or as if they all are imbecilic deplorables?

The final performance to last night’s multi-network celeb tribute to front line workers, was just as good as it could be. I actually didn’t watch much of the rest of the show, but I was lucky enough to have tuned in just as Celine Dion, John Ledger, Lady Gaga and Andrew Bocelli began singing The Prayer. And maybe even more intense was the beautiful cohesion beneath the quartet from the incredible pianist Lang Lang.

It was cold and misty this morn, but a good Walk at dawning is always a good walk at dawning.

The actions of people wearing masks in stores reminds of people who buy 4-Wheel drive SUV’s. The masks tend to embolden people to dismiss the other rules of sensible social distancing, just as s 4-Wheel drivers drive like maniacs on icy roads. Or for that matter, pedestrians who think crosswalks keep them safe whether or not they look for oncoming traffic.

When the going gets tough, the snipers go stupid.

The Tids aren’t very funny this morn.

oday is “Patriots Day in Massachusetts and we down here in RI generally celebrate it too. It celebrates the “Midnight ride of Paul Revere” and “The shot heard round the world”. Normally there would be a Red Sox game in the morning and the Boston marathon later. Millions would be filling streets of a great City and 26 miles of roads and byways leading there. We would remember those injured and killed in that marathon blast of a few years ago. And celebrate great achievement. Today all eyes are on medical workers, truckers and essential people keeping America alive and well. and working.

“Patriot’s” day in a liberal bastion of the USA like Boston? Liberals loving Patriots sounds somewhat incongruous in today’s TDS society.

Yes, I admit it. I am a sports junkie. And I can hardly wait for Thursday.

The Quarantine has turned us into dogs. We roam the house all day looking for food. We are told “No” if we get too close to strangers, and we get really excited about car rides.

Duh Headline of the Week: “Pelosi rips Trump”.

Many years ago I labeled Joe Biden as the “National Plagiarist Laureate”. And to me he will be nothing more than that NPL. Lots of people say, well Old Joe is a nice guy. Well, I haven’t ever thought that about him. He’s just another Dem politician seeking power, and not a very attractive one at that.

There is one thing for sure that we can all take to the bank during htisnestx acapihg. temedia willoverlok anfy Biden shortcoming. Tyewil do anythigot getrid of DT.

My lofty premise urging all Repubs to focus on the election of only Repub congress persons and senators falls flat in RI. I feel so helpless.

The Answer:
Number Ten best selling political bobblehead doll is the Combo of Barack and VP Biden, where Joe is probably nodding like hell – “Yes Barack”. Next is Hugo Chavez followed by Charles Darwin, Vladimir Putin, Che Guevara, Osama Bin Laden, Joe the Plumber, Sarah Palin, Kim Jong il , and number one is Obama in a Superman outfit. So, do bobbleheads represent America? Bonus: Jane Leeves? Jane may have been one of your favorites as she played Daphne Moon on Frazier.

In case you missed it, this is pretty good.
