Staying power

Today's Tids Issue 4,726

Enjoy what you like:

I have trouble watching the news, regardless of which station is reporting it.

One of our more creative Tids reader/wordsmiths tells me that, “If Satan ever lost his hair there would be hell toupee. I think, he for sending it and me for repeating it, may have us both on trip on the down elevator.

Every once in a while, I just gotta play Bach’s Goldberg variations. Especially by crazy Glenn Gould

In the RCP averages out this morning show trump has sliced the gap a bit. But, the Oddsmakers have changed the odds considerably, moving Trump form a 12-point spread differential to a 2.4-point differential. On the battleground states, in 2016 the Dems held a +3.5 advantage and today it is +2.5. In the key Senate race, the Repubs have increased their advantage from a tie about a month ago to a 2-seat advantage 46-44, meaning that 10 seats are undecided. It sounds like this race is getting serious.

The Question:

Who is Mary Ann Nichols?

How come some people like classical music and others aren’t drawn to it. Is it too sketchy? (Sorry, I had to say that. Back to Tidlet😊) After all, music is music and in the classics, there is emotion and aggression and just plain beautiful melodies with a lot of feeling.  And if you think about it, Shostakovich is a little like Heavy metal, before anybody ever heard of heavy metal.  Don’t tell a classical purist I said that. In other words. Classical music in large halls was what there was before top 40 DJ’s. Are people afraid of being considered elite, uncool because they enjoy something that is easy to enjoy; outside the cultural coolness-scale norms. Hey, look, I’m just a simple man and I just like it.

I talked to a guy who has several good gigs in the local restaurant industry around here. He says he’s happy opt be working all three again, but will be saving a lot of dough because he doesn’t know where this will be going in the Winter. He said there appears to be a sense of liveliness with all of these outdoor places, but he reminded that what looks like happy throngs is seriously below capacity. , It looks good on the surface, But! How may people will be smart enough to pull in their horns a bit.

What if Einstein was dyslexic and E+MC2 was…?

A reader points out that if Sonny Cordileone had an E-Z Pass, he’d be alive today.

Does anybody still understand what criminals are? That perhaps police are hardened because they never know when they will be facing a dangerous person who would lash out at any moment. They aren’t called to tea parties; they are celled to possibilities of serious criminal activity. Do you think maybe Police have seen more t aggression than those activists who would prosecute the police?

Education is the path from cocky ignorance to miserable uncertainty.

Dem leadership ignoring violence in the streets could hand Repubs Victories in November. Real Americans prefer peace. Real Americans don’t enable criminal activity.

I think MLK’s granddaughter needs to learn to restrain herself a little bit.

One reason that many on the left don’t like the Ten Commandments is because they remind everybody of right and wrong.

By the way, whatever happened to MLK’s concept, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Identity politics dismisses the individual character of people who are not like everybody else, but only who they are themselves.

If hyperbole was crime Labron James would be indicted.

The Answer

Mary Ann was the first victim of Jack the Ripper. So, there you have it, just in case the question comes up someday.

Being dyslectic has its drawbacks. I once wnet to atoag party dressed as agoat.
