Wearing masks isn’t hard.

Today's Tids Issue 4,708

You count:

There is no question that moms will be talking a lot to each other on street corners and in grocery stores about the rationale behind opening, or keeping schools closed. Probably the biggest question of the moment on many levels. In their hearts I would expect they are hoping school would start with live classes. But their Mother instincts are probably saying proceed with extreme caution. But, how would I know.

The other big Covid disaster quandary seems to be evictions. That’s a possible revolution the streets kind of problem.

Dispensed: The thought process that would have the current US VP replaced by Nicki Haley or Condoleezza Rice.

What would politicians do without power companies to blame for storms.

The Question:

An astute reader informs me that a lot of common expressions from the 1950;s and 1960’s have words in them that Spell-Check doesn’t’ recognize. What do you think some of that old lingo might be?

The Headlines:

Markets Rise As Still Bleak Jobless Claims Report Hits New Pandemic Low; But New Job Additions Misses A lot, 167K Versus Estimate Of 1.2M.

--Hilton Earnings Miss; Papa Johns, Restaurant Brands, Bristol-Meyers, Squibb Hit.

--Beirut Cleanup Ongoing; Citizens Want Answers.

--Biden Lead Stays Firm; Never Wrong Since 1984 Presidential Race Predictor Allan Lichtman Says Biden Will Win.

It just may be that health consultants could be turning to the NBA for advice on how to control the spread of Covid. The league’s process been exemplary, with absolutely no case among the 343 players. you can’t keep the entire USA in a bubble, but the NBA success certainly says to me that trying to follow all the rules will work.

Ambidextrose: An IV in both arms.

Personally, I think chefs are putting way too much on hamburgers, probably to outdo each other. Let’s face it, the quality of a burger starts with the excellence of the meat. Does that mean that overloading a burger to the point where it is hard to hold, eat and keep off the calories is basically a scheme to disguise inferior meat?

How about the possibility of a grain war —Condoleezza Rice against Susan Rice. No Contest.

One of the big points of conflict surrounding obeying Coivid safety rules is why back yard barbecues groups are frowned upon and protest march groups aren’t.

The Gallop poll out yesterday showed that 61% of Blacks would like the police presence in their neighborhoods reman the same, while another 20$% would like to see it increase, for a total of 81% not wanting to give up police. However, just one in five think they will be treated properly, So basically, it’s don’t get rid of police, just reorient their sensitivities. It’s always good to see opinions from Americans beyond the megaphones. Note: The total for Whites is 88% and Hispanics is 83%.

Make Up exam: A test cosmetology students takes after they’ve been sick.

The Answer:

Some of our lost words are Mergatroyd, Jalopy, Hunky-Dory and Kilroy’s not there. Pshaw, Jehohaphat are some others. Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle! Yes, lots of phrases are gone too, but that’s another answer for another question for another day.

Being considerate – that’s really what these rules for a safe society during Covid is all about. People will say, but children don’t get Covid (They do) but that’s not the problem. It to what homes kids bring the infections. People say, I don’t get firestone and masks don’t help me anyhow. But they help other people. Remember other people. The basic concept of sating safe in Covid days, is about caring for other people.
