Music, Music, Music.

Today's Tids Issue 2,832
Opening Stuff:
I was watching the Benghazi hearings and decided to go into the archives and pull up the video of that sad "homecoming" of the four bodies of great people -- Chris Stevens, Glen Doherty, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods-- It was sad to see, the slow methodical procession carrying the remains of valiant men home. I watched the spoken words of President Obama and Secretary Clinton. It was also sad to hear from Hilary: "the rage and violence aimed at American missions was prompted by 'an awful Internet video that we had nothing to do with.' She went on to mention how hard it is for the US to control the action of "Mobs", a word she used several times. All the time knowing that the truth was somewhere else, as we have learned for sure yesterday. Everybody knew what a politically motivated White House and State Department had obscured. The sadness of the procession is today for a Nation fooled by a tune off key.

For the women who sprained her ankle outside the Fortune Teller's shop, it was a twist of fate.

The Question:
Double Q Day! 1. Coastal Living Magazine has named the Ten Happiest coastal towns in which to live. Name them. 2. Billy Joel is a great entertainer. What are your favorite five Joel songs?

Too many Singers Department:
Yikes, The Voice and American Idol in one night is firing far too many Neurons into my basal ganglia and cerebellum. How do you distinguish between the very good and almost very good with all of those notes floating between the synapses. --The Voice: First, the Judges on the Voice were obviously surprised often by the voters, leaving them to decide between two they probably pre-picked as keepers. Adam had to be surprised that Sarah was standing there before him with hope in her teary eyes.  She seemed to be one of the untouchables. I think he was hoping Amber would be there so he could keep Caroline. Likewise with Shakira, deciding to let the power singer Karina Inglesias go, a talent, but not a good fan connector. Also I was surprised that Justin Rivers slipped. --American Idol: I thought they were all pretty equal. The judges went berserk over the Candice version of one of my favorite songs, "Somewhere". I thought she screeched it, so she lost me. Kree was great three times and Angie too. I have loved Candice, but in my mind the other two won the night.

There are many Cleveland readers of The Tids. Their reactions were varied from the scary thoughts of living nearby, of their children --innocents unaware. Blasting a politicized Cleveland Police department derelict in their duty. Citizens from one end of the Emerald Necklace to the other, never letting go, knowing that the police spent more time masking a poor investigation of the missing three. Clevelanders have lived with the fear of an animal in their midst and with the sorrow for three innocents that lay heavy in the hearts of all.

While on the subject of intelligent Tids readers, a well placed Tids source tells us that he spoken Rick Santorum and Fla Gov. Rick Scott recently at a conference and we should expect to see them both in the Republican Primaries in 2016. Hope their platform isn't too rickity!

"Zero Tolerance" is one of those cliches latched onto by corporate and public officialdom to either create illusions or eliminate the need for decisions. It has become incredibly silly in grammar school situations where Principles say they are not able to understand plastic guns in kids pockets because of "Zero Intolerance".

The chief Tids spell-Check critic wrote yesterday about my spelling of Saltenbocca versus his interpretation as Saltimbocca. It appears that the spelling of this word is somewhat of a world wide controversy. For instance, there is a restaurant in NYC called Saltimbocca. But, many restaurants serve Saltimbucca. While others delight you with Saltimbocco. And some dunces in chat rooms with little to do, I have seen, fight for Saltenbocca. Everybody agrees that the origin of the word is from Saltaire meaning "Jump" and Boca meaning "mouth"; Or Jump in mouth, as in Delicious and tangy. The most used term appears to be Saltimbucco, but that is often  followed by the qualifier, "I.m not sure of the spelling."

Yesterday the Honorable Mr. Clay from (D) Missouri brought politics in to the hearings with suggestions that the problem lay a the feet of Republicans for cutting funds. (Note, this was entirely refuted by the State Department's Charlene Lamb at the first hearing). Other Dems used their time to toss red herrings into the quest for truth. Now, we know Dems will say that this entire hearing is politically motivated by the Repubs. That's the way it has become in America it seems -- seeking the truth is bad. Holding people to higher standards of honesty and civil morality, from students to politicians to CEOs, is somehow becoming foreign to our new cultural mind set. Americans ask Muslims to stand up and denounce terror by their own. Yet, we seem to cower wqhen seekng the truths about ourselves.

The Answer:
1. I'm happy and I guess so are a lot of folks in the neighborhood, as Newport from whence these mighty Tids emerge fresh and new each morn is 5th! The others are Beaufort SC, Harwichport Ma, Sanibel Island Fl, Sag Harbor NY, Newport, Rowayton Ct, Kennebunkport Me, Pa'ia Hi, La Jolla Ca and Pescadaro Ca. 2. My personal favorite BJ song is Scenes From an Italian Restaurant and then Piano Man which launched his career where he has become the 6th bestselling artist world wide and 3rd in the US. Some others are She's Got A way, The Entertainer, Only the Good Die Young, She's Always a Woman, Just the Way You Are, My Life and Honesty.

Hillary seems to be in hiding. I wonder if the truth about Benghazi has anything to do it with that.

I had a lot more planned for this morning, but my mind seemed to wander a bit. It must have been the music. This is pretty good:
