Today's Tids Issue 2,960
Opening Stuff:
What better evidence do we need for a concerted move back to a States Rights centric government over expanding Federal Suffocation, than the smooth operation of the State's ACA computer systems versus the tragic federal mess. This is just one clear example of how governments closer to the people always have a chance of being more efficient, more relevant. A case could be made for the Feds if in fact the elected representatives were more beholden to their constituents than the massive lobbyist organizations who more and more seem to run the governemnt. Other than defense and some coordination for natural issues that cross states borders, the US government has far exceeded its Raison d'etre. In reality, a reasonable federal goverment could be run by 237 bureaucrats, a few computers and the military.

The latest hot new ticket of the decade is the Denver--Kansas City game.

Bill Clinton looked better when he was eating Big Macs.

The Question:
--I'm not a big supporter of Whoopie Goldberg's views, but I have to admit that when she's in  a movie, the movie is generally better. What are Whoopie's best movies?

During my 13 President lifetime, I believe that none of them as exes ever outwardly criticized a sitting president, until yesterday when gaunt looking, now vegan BC had some choice words for "O". So, I'm thinking, why would the philanderer break the uwritten rule. Simple, he is still in the race with his wife aiming to be the first Woman prez in history. He has a lot at steak in remaining relevant. He has become a campaign strategy.

How many times so far in early November have you heard, "Black Friday Starts Now!". Say what? It's just another example of creeping comercialism, you know when something starts out as perhaps a pleasant new tradition and then grows exponentially, grasped and diluted by promoters.. Sticking with this for a moment, it was reported in the news today that more and more stores led by the  big chains, will be open all day on Thangsgiving! Give me an "F---ing break!" Is nothing at all sacred any more. Has money finally trumped all sense of human decency. The materialism of Christmas is one reason why sane people should never give an inch on just about anything -- it will become miles with in nano-seconds.

Speakng of money, it was reported this morning that ex Ya-ya-ya...(WYKWIM).., Robinson Cano is asking for a ten year contract worth in excess of ...$300 Million. As YaYa GM Brian Cashman said, he is about money pure and simple. He doesn't need 300 mil, he just wants it for the record books. He would be 41, significantly beyond his prime when the contract is finished. Can you say Alex Rodriguez?

A lot of the big new money made today is by putting old industries out of business. Or, getting people excited about something they don't really need. I was thinking ysterday as I sat in a Barber shop, why with all of today's technology, couldn't this be done at home...with a robot, that was programmed with a lot of sports and political knowledge? "I love the Red Sox...ee-ee, ah-ah, oo-oo."

Reader suggested Joke of the Day: "How many Obama lovers does it take to screw in a light bulb? None. They like to stay in the dark."

Speaking of readers, the most overwhelming response of approval for any recent Tid was for the comments by a physician likening ACA as Pelozi said -- "You have to pass it to know what is in it" -- as the exact description of a stool sample.

Hey, let's be real -- the computer problems with the monster ObamaCare will be fixed, but what will never be fixed is the assault on US freedoms by this nationalization of a sixth of the economy. For what...to get a realtively few uninsured into a another giant government give-away program. The fixation on a few ailing compurters takes the eye away from the most serious of threats.

Yesterday the Doctors announced new guidelines to determine the need for Statins. One guideline was, "Type Two Diabetics - Ages 40-75." Does that mean you can stop when you are 76?

If I continue to eat more chocolate, will I become too big to fail?

The Conscience: Chapter 29.
James and Milton literally ran from the lunch to an awaiting limo, but not before James handed me his card and quietly asked me to call. Jason came over and put his big ole arm around my shoulder, "You're not too bad for a drunk". I smiled as though it was the first time I had heard that. It's my middle name. Wu said little at the meeting, during lunch or now. But, his eyes were firmly fixed upon me, leading me to wonder what the real story about Wu was.
I explained to Jace that I had waved him off the drug boat question because I got a vibe from James that it would be better to talk about more serious stuff in a less crowded room.
"I think we had a good meeting today. What do you think, Eliot?" Then I waited since Wu always ran his answer through several computer model scenarios first.
"I agree." I waited again, but it seemed that was all he had. My phone rang as I was pondering the meaning of the words, I agree. I looked down. It was Angelica. I smiled and said to Jace...My wife. probably wonders if I'm ever coming home. I'll be back in a minute or two. I went out in the parking lot and stood under a sign, "Find shark teeth on the beach."
"Hi!" I think my "Hi" sounded a bit too enthusiastic.
She answered with a happy "Hi" herself. "You sound very nice today." I felt a little blip in my chest. "Then her voice went lower, serious. "Bruno has been watching me more than usual. He's always there when Mom is around, but now he seems to show up even when she is who knows where. He bothers me. Always has."
I tensed, remembering my encounter. He is a mean guy. "Maybe it is just your imagination has heightened now that you know so much more about what's going on. Maybe. But," Now I was scrambling, trying to save myself from the embarrassment of stupidity, "But, you're much to insightful for that." The phone line seemed extraordinarily silent.
Then I heard heard the laughter, "Mr, Morgan, you are so humorously clumsy when you think you are being stupido." Wait, am I clumsily stupid so often that I have established a pattern?

The Answer:
I liked Jumpin' Jack flash, and thought she made Ghost a far better movie despite the power of "Unchained Melody". Whoopie's (Her real name is Caryn Elaine Johnson) first movie had a title that made me smile, "Citizen: I'm not losing my mind, I'm giving it away.", but it was the "Color Purple" that made her career soar. Some others are "Clara's Heart", "Long Walk Home", Ghosts of Mississippi", Girl Interrupted", "Kingdom Come", "Rat Race" and another associated with her, "Sister Act".

Interestingly, while the Whoopster espouses the liberal side of issues, her last name was chosen by she and her mother solely on the basis of blatant ethnic stereotyping -- you can't make it in show business unless you're Jewish. Oh yeah, and her first name...well she always said to her friends you got to release the gasses that are within you. They responded calling her their whoopie cushion!

As we slide down the other side of Hump Day, unchain yourselves from the repression of responsibility, sit back and relax with a little music:
