Today's Tids Issue 3006
Opening Stuff:

I loved that Patriot's win Saturday night. In fact I'm loving this tough, gritty, resourceful team more than most of the past good teams. It's becoming like a team of 53 Teddy Bruski's!

When you think about it, for a couple of centuries now political parties have assembled packages of beliefs and told adherents "When you join us, this is what you believe in". You have to take the good with the bad. I'm thinking that with the acceptance of social media combined with further innovation in digital conversations that party lines will blurr as people assemble their own pools of like beliefs. We'll have mini power bases all over the place, and billionaire lobbyists will buy them and sell them to politicians...who bend, even more than now, the integrity of their black souls to accommodate. Sound like science fiction? Everything that never has been has a chance to be in the future.

When you are totally contented and happy, it's nearly impossible to develop a bucket list.

The Question:
Bonus Day! 1. 43 years ago, All in the Family made its TV debut. Name the four main characters and the stars who played them. Name five other memorable characters. Bonus: What was the name of the guy who was always "Here" during WWII?

It took Holder's Feds About 2 and a 1/2 minutes to begin an investigation into Chris Christie. It's been over a year and I still haven't seen any action on Benghazi and Hillary's involvement in that obvious stone wall charade.

The cruelest word of modern day US government is "Mandate". Nothing takes freedom of choice away faster.

A national Political scientist of note confirmed some Tids previous opinions about the rise of the far left in recent months. Hillary, who I belive in her heart is a far leftist, will have to lean that way if the progressives continue to make strides as they have with victories like Warren and Deblasio. The biggest worry to the right side of politics going forward are millions of dollars that Left leaning Billionaires will pour into local elections.

There is still nothing better than a hand written note that arrives in the old fashioned mail. A personal message is much more of a connection than something digital, necessarily sacrificed to the limitations of a machine.

Of course, this does not mean I will be hand writing the Tids and mailing them every day.

I can understand the grading of the Red Carpet gowns of female celebs...but men's tuxedos?

This time of each year on Saturdays I do a bit of public speaking. So far I haven't been tripped up by a typo...just my own inability to speak well.

There are knowledgeable opinions out there that say: if it's The Hill against The Mountain, Christie will be painted as Bully, Bully, Bully by the philanderers wife. But, it would be quite easy to paint the Hill as liar liar liar, while preserving truth in advertising. In other words, statesman like politics is not in our immediate future.

It seems that the admin and the left side of American opinion have, with the aid of friendly media, been able to eliminate the word "Illegal' from the domestic dialog on immigrants who broke the law to get here.

The medical journal asks, "Does taste reduce with age." I say yes and as proof there's my closet full of 80s clothing and maybe a few throwbacks to the fifties.

The Conservative Talk shows continually paint a black picture of "Moderate" Republicans. I understand the need to be fierce about your beliefs, but never getting elected may over time overwhelm strong beliefs. For instance, without Rush Limbaugh's dogged persecution of George HW Bush in the 90's, I personally believe we may never had seen the rise of the Clintons. A moderate Republican would have probably beaten Harry Reid in Nevada. In other words, you have to look at the realism of every situation, and be smart. Win battles. Pile up victories. Take what the opponent gives you. Most of the time they don't give you the home run, or the 80 yard touchdown pass.

The Conscience: Chapter 32 continues.
"I wanted to tell you that you didn't kill her. She never died."
"Who never died? What's he talking about, Jeffery?"
Chapter 33: Mobile, Alabama, 1957.
Jimmy, "Brainy" Smith felt his heart beating crazily as he looked up at the terrified white boy...then back down at the dead southern girl near his feet. He subconsciously moved back a step. "Black boys can't be found next to daid white girls", he shouted, turned and ran. "Seeya mister!"
He had never run faster he thought. He was scared and felt like a coward too, leaving a white man who seemed different than most he had ever known, a white man scared like him, with the dead woman. His legs were burning as he urged himself to keep going. He had constantly looked over his shoulder, like most black boys in the south learned to do, to be sure nobody had seen him leaving the ghastly place by the lake.
As he finally got into town and to the basement apartment down an alley where he lived with his mother, father and big brother Joey, his breathing slowed. He felt safe in the darkness he knew. As he exhaled and ran to the comfort at the other side of his front door, an arm grabbed him and put him firmly into a painful headlock. He knew it was his big brother, and he knew he'd soon feel playful knucking of his head. The laughter was pure Joey as usual. This time Jimmy didn't join in. "Brainy, how come you isn't laughin'?" Jimmy managed to turn his face upward, and big brother could see the anguish in the little kids face.
"God dammit, Brainy, you look terrible."
Jimmy was now huffing and puffing trying to regain his breath after the long angry run. "Joey, we got trouble. Let me go Joey." he wrestled his head away and looked up to his tall bro. "I saw a dead white girl. I saw her get killed. You know they're gonna blame it on us." Joey finally released the grip on his brothers neck.      "What you tellin' me?"

The Answer:
1. To give you an idea about where I come from, my father would call Archie Bunker a pinko communist. Archie played by Carroll O'Connor was joined by wife Edith, Son-in-law Michael "Meathead" Stivic and daughter Gloria  played by Jean Stapleton, Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers. Oters were "The Jeffersons -- Lionel, Louise and Geroge Played by Mike Evans, Isabel Sanford and Sherman Hemsley. Others were Stephanie Mills (Danielle Brisebois) Henry Snowden (Jason Wingreen), Barryy Hefner (Allan Melvin) and Irene Lorenzo Betty Garrett).  Bonus: "Kilroy was here", and everywhere during WWII -- including on the covers of my schoolbooks.

Do you know that old word game where you change one letter over each of four moves to go from one word to another. I find that I can go from Tids to duds in three moves! It just shows you how devastating a typo can be.
