Recovery isn’t cheap.

Today's Tids Issue 4,926

If you don't like fish, it's Ok:

Welcome back from Covid. But the cost of lobster, clams and flounder may put summer out of reach for most Rhode Islanders.

In a small survey, 60% of the people said they prefer to live in the colder environment than a warmer one. Summer wears me out.

The new buzzword taking over Wall Street right now is “Meme Stocks”. They aren’t defined in text books and they may never be, but they have become a well-defined reason for stock movement today.  They share the common characteristic of being usually overpriced and experiencing spikes of rapid growth in short spaces of time. They are governed by hype rather than logic. Some of the hot meme stocks are or have been Reddit darlins like the current “Clover Health>”

Writing with a broken pencil is pointless.

The Question:

As many of you who Watch Jeopardy religiously, you know that they are in the middle of a guest host series looking to replace the Legend. Name the guest hosts so far and rank them from 9 (Worst) to 1 (Best).

The Headiness:

--Stocks Sought Direction As Markets Opened; Stocks Continue To Meander Durning Today Short Sellers Burned By Rapid Rise Of Clover Health.

--Apple Debuts iOS 15; Provides Major Facetime and AirPod Updates; Other Significant Improvements To Phone Operations..

--Fauci Warms Of New Covid Variant, “Covid 19 Delta” That is creating Servius Damage In The UK.

--US Ambassador To Russia Warns That Trying To Deal With Biden Could Produce Negative Effects.

Well, we will eb watching a lot of Biden in Europe for about a week or so. Putin with Biden will be most telling.

A new report developed by UCLA surfaced yesterday that showed “Locked down” states have fared better economically than the so-called open states like Florida. Expect another university report to prove the opposite. This is just the latest battle to maintain the divide in the USA. It’s hard to take a lot of stuff seriously in this new land of ours.

Biden could probably get closer to Ukraine coveting Putin if he gave him a percentage of Hunter Bidens deal in that same country.

Extraterrestrials: Too many aliens.

Headline for the modern era: “Naked Florida woman trashes Outback Steakhouse!” Yikes.

If all the worries of the world weren’t already enough, some exerts are beginning to warn about Cuba style “Energy Emitting” devices that could do serious harm to US citizens.

The scarecrow says, this job isn’t for everybody, but Hay, it’s in my jeans.

The Answer:

The “A.V. Club” has assembled the names of every guest host thus far and ranked their performances, beginning with the ones whose names should be removed from consideration and ending with the best candidates to succeed Alex. The A.V. Club is an American online newspaper and entertainment website featuring reviews, interviews, and other articles that examine films, music, television, books, games etc.)  Yet to come are LaVar Burton, Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, three more to judge who will be inserted into the appropriate position when their stints are over. Number 9 is Doctor Oz “No way”, and he is followed by Katie Couric who Looked like a tourist on the stage), Mike Richards the insider corporate guy, Anderson Cooper a safe choice, Bill Whitaker the professional but…, Buzzy Cohen for a youth movement, Mayim Bialik for delightful enthusiasm and #2 Aaron Rogers who was surprisingly excellent and quite comforting. The winner in the clubhouse is Ken Jennings. Like the contestant, Ken is still the one to beat; has wit, ease and empathy.

China is prodding Japan and Australia. Russia is prodding USA and Europe. The USA s prodding itself. I’m just sitting back wondering.

Never trust an atom. They makeup everything.
