I can't find the funny.

Today's Tids Issue 5,335

God created the world in 7 days; there was no congress:

Shakespeare had it right – Twitter debates are almost always Much ado about nothing. A coming together of People with nothing better to do than creating mindless hysteria. Often criticizing the good and promoting the bad. And sadly, people listen and keep the garbage flowing. Drug dealers would be out of business if people stopped using it.

Frankly I really don’t know much about McCarthy except for the opinions of others across the vast divide of the political spectrum. Obviously, we should be seeking a speaker wh ocan unite as best as possible this angry sea of American discourse. So I guess it is time to put somebody new up for grabs. Thats the only soluiton I can think of.

Ok, here we go – the layoffs are coming. The layoffs are coming. Amazon just announced a cut of 18,000 jobs. The company has seen a big slowdown since the out of sight Pandemic online ordering epidemic. It’s expected that technology companies worldwide will be sending a lot of people home. A lot of the early heavy hiring was to satisfy “a what might be” business plan. And wall Street bought it. But not now.

Everybody has a speaker election scenario. It is apparent that a good handful of the resisting Repubs will never agree to anything touched by McCarthy. One bad scenario has Dems joining the increasingly angry 200 repubs who want to get this done... if they can agree on a candidate left of McCarthy. Something like that would most likely produce ultimate gridlock government.

McCarthy also has a vote scenario and this morning he took actions bv offering new concessions and considerable powers to the right-wing opposition. We’ll see. My guess is that 6 or 8 will accept nothing that smells of McCarthy/.

My brain hurts.

I started investing in stocks – Beef Chicken, and Vegetable. Someday I'll be a bouillonaire

The Question:

What happened when the French cheese factory exploded? Bonus: What do you call fear of Giants? Extra Bonus: What was the result of swallowing a dictionary?

A lot of the applications for Artificial intelligence seem to be aimed at replacing a lot of stuff that people really enjoy doing. I mean I like the pain of working and creating stuff on my own. The new CES show in Las Vegas this week is full of eye-popping technology. But, really, do we need it. Do we have to adopt something we really don’t need jut ot make inventors fee; wanted and investors rich? One of the new whiz bang inventions seems clever. It's a smart bird feeder that takes pictures of all avian visitors then describes them and their natural habitats. Don’t the bird watchers enjoy doting that work themselves! “Well, no, I really didn't actually find that rare species, but it was my new intelligent bird feeder” That just doesn’t ring the same, does it?

The TidsPickers had a good week under the greyest of clouds. We all know about Danar and the terrible on field near death tragedy. How the country has gotten down on its knees like never before. How so many never felt the reality of life as much. But Game will be played this weekend, though the Pats-Bills game is still subject to postponement. The word out now is that there may not be a Bye week for winning teams. It would be used to make up for the postponement or other schedule alterations. Last week the TidsPicker went 13-2 to bring the yearly record to 172-84 (67%). 75% by the end of next week is looking quite unattainable. There are still some meaningful games being played – Bills-Pats, Browns-Steelers, Rams-Seahawks, Jets-Dolphins, Giants-Eagles, Lions-Packers, Ravens-Bengals, Jags-Titans and you could say Minn is playing to retain its dignity and KC and Philly to get Byes. But some of the toughest picks are between the losers like NO-Carolina and Houston Indy. Who shows up! for those I pick Houstion and New Orleans.

Ok, Pitt has a shot if they beat Cleveland and Pats and Dolphins lose. I pick the Steelers and think the Pats will lose. The Jets and Dolphins both have an enigmatic QB situation. I’ll pick the Jets. Pitt’s in. The big race in the NFC is for a spot is between Seattle Detroit and Green Bay. Seattle will win and I believe Green Bay will take the Lions. So that makes GB and Sea even except the Pack has the tiebreaker. If Detroit wins, and Seattle wins, Seattle is in berceuse they have the tiebreaker. So it looks like I’m predicting the final wildcard for Pitt and the Pack. The other big deadly loser go home is Jax versus Tenn. Jax heads that division but must beat Tennessee or they go home and Tenn miraculously saves a season they threw away. I’m picking Jax. And I was a huge Titan fan all year. Of the rest I pick Minn over Chicago, TB over Atlanta, San Fran over Arizona, Dallas in a squeaker over Washington, Chargers over the Broncs, the Eagles over the Giants, Cincy over Baltimore and KC over Las Vegas. KC gets the AFC Bye with that win. If the TidsPiickers go 16-0 we end the year at less that a point under 70%, a far cry form 75%. Oh well, nest year looks good.

For ready viewing, Linda Blair always keeps a copy of The Exorcist in her possession.

The digital headlines this morning were all about an upset Alert: as Providence College defeated #4 in the nation UConn 73-62. But if the experts had been watching the development of PC they would realize it wasn't an upset at all. PC is very good, but it is one of tose newfangled Transfer Portal Schools. They got the goods, but it takes the early part of the season to meld them into a unit. I think we will see signs of this new college athletic phenomenon around the country.

This speaker stalemate proves once again that you just can't embarrass a politician.

There are few things I enjoy more than in the morning than my cold grapefruit juice. It just wipes away the nighttime blahs in a most perky way.

I think I’m resolved to live my life with Mundane coffee. The old, canned standbys are bound to become my new staple as the fancy bagged brews are getting priced out of sight. Maybe Congress should get used to mundane budgets. That would be helpful for all prices.

I'm reading that Byron Donalds is the new hot candidate for speaker. I never heard of him. (Note: He was born in Brooklyn to a single mother, went to college in Flarida, found a job in banking there and now lives in Naples with his wife and children. “He is committed to serving and giving back to the community that gave him so much.”

I got mugged by several dwarfs last night. Not happy.

The Answer:

When the French cheese factory exploded, Da brie was everywhere. Bonus: Fear of giants is called Fifiphobia. Extra Bonus: After swallowing a dictionary, I had thesaurus throat ever.

Let’s hope they settle this congress thing. Soon. Mainly to stop the Democrats from chortling,
