“O” stands for Obfuscation.

Today's Tids Issue 3,046
Opening Stuff:

The Blizzard raged this fine March day. The icy roads put cars in play. So I’m just typing what I have to say, Waiting for the sun to push out the gray.

The President is playing with the law that should never have been enacted, again. ObamaCare was a complete mess when it was rammed through congress. Now the President has “essentially repealed it” when he illegally postponed the individual mandate for two years. Some knowledge able opiners are saying that are saying that what “O: is doing is something you would expect form John  Gotti; That the Predient is essentially rigging the election.  But, a very smart reader said it best: “Am I confused. How does a Presdient i=and his staff get to decide what gets implemented or not? Shouldn’t they be sued to implement the law as it was passed?” This erudite reader also asks, “Perhaps the Constitution was changed when I was not looking.” He wonders why the media isn’t screaming about a President who is breaking the law. Lot’s  to think about. For your edification, he recommends the Wall Street Journal editorial for March 12: “ObamaCare’s Secret mandate Exemption.”

Who can you trust, if you can’t trust the guy who pours your beer? Is that the kind of world we live in now, where everything is a a scam including a glass of beer. Up in Boise Idaho, hockey fans are suing the Arena because the bartenders consistently up-sell people from the regular $4.00 beer to the giant $7.00, giving the impression that you get twice as much brew for less than twice the bucks. Except for one thing – the big glass is skinnier and the amount of beer is exactly the same! Gadzooks man, has the President and the Dem congress who voted for the health travesty set the tone for the way people do business. But, Mom…

One of the more enjoyable plays I’ve seen is called Sylvia. It’s being revived again here at 2nd Story in Bristol RI, but be on the look for it around any of the far flung Tids neighborhoods. It’s about a dog and a man and the potential breakup of a marriage because of it. It is written by AJ Guerney, and is very funny at times as see the increasing jealousy of wife over the growing attachment by hubby for the dog Sylvia. You will love the human reactions of Syvia, who, is played by a human, side comments and all. Great supporting characters too.

The Question:
Name five William h. Macy Movies. Bonus: Name the 8 States where average gas prices are above $4,00.

Speaking of the surreptitious Presidency, I just finished the last episode of this season’s House of Cards. I won’t tell you the ending, but it is worth the time. Now,  the long wait for Season 3. That’s the problem with streaming; it’s there, daring you to watch just one more episode. Like a bag of open Cheetos. The good news is that while you are waiting for next year’s HoC, you will have “24” back again. Yes, in less than two months now, Jack Bauer will reemerge upon your screens! KThunk. KThunk. KThunk.

48, count em’ 48 singers have survived “The Voice” Blind Audition process, and will do battle in the face-off segments beginning next week. This is a fun show, with some very good talent. Adam’s teambuilding early made him an early favorite to repeat, but Blake came on strong towards the end, as did Usher. I think Shakira also is stronger than she was as a neophyte two years ago.

I haven’t seen anything in the nightly reporting on Ukraine about this, but the US involvement isn’t merely a touchy-feely thing. It is an obligation to protect Ukraine as written into the Budapest Accords which were designed to provide Ukraine security as a  trade-off for Ukraine giving up its “Thousands of Warheads” Nuke Power status. In fact Britain and Russia were co-granters of protection. So I’m guessing that Russia saw it as only protecting Russian citizens within the U. But, it binds the US to take whatever action necessary to prohibit aggression against that state. This isn’t something that can be postponed past an election like ObamaCare. “Tis a puzzlement”.

Celebrity Creep Roseanne Bahr tweeted the address of the George Zimmerman’s family, forcing them to abandon their own home. That is a problem with celebs who have the capability of amassing gigantic hoards of mindless followers. They can get them to do anything. BTW, the Zims are suing Barr, and I hope they take her to the cleaners.

I think the RI state government will have to subsidize diners if they pass the law forcing independent business people to put calories on their menus. Here you are paying $30, $60, $100 for a dinner, and the Government is hitting you with massive guilt. Like somebody is going to go to a French restaurant and requesting “Hold the Sauce” please. Governments’ should only be allowed to meet every 3 years…for 7 hours. After two hundred and twenty something years, do you really think we need any new laws? Hey, it’s all in the constitution and 10 Commandments…isn’t it?

The tyranny in the executive branch continues, as 0-Man is poised to issue an Exec order that would require companies so pay overtime to supervisors, often exempt employees in many major companies. The travesty isn’t whether or not it is fair, it is about the government micromanaging the decisions of business people. The principle here is the same as it it is in any free society: If you don’t like a town move; if you don’t like a state, move; If you don’t like a job, find one that you think you will like. If you don’t like the way a country is being run, you’re more or less screwed.

Fox News might start looking over its shoulder as NewsmaxTV signs on. Owner/FounderChristopher Ruddy, says that his station will be more than news, but will go beyond news and political labels with original programming on lifestyle, health and financial information. Boomers will be a big target audience. The key, says Ruddy, is OTT – “Over The Top” – distribution meaning the network will be found on cable, as well s streaming on computers, smart phones, tablets, smart TV’s and other devices. Appearing on Scarborough’s MSNBC, he added that 100 Million Americans define themselves as conservative or moderate leaning to the right. He says having a conservative foits the mainstream of thinking Americans.

Retirement is working your ass off on projects, volunteer assignments or hobbies, and not getting paid for it.

And then, there is the CIA snooping on Congress. Snooping is bad enough, but it is also entirely illegal for that spy organization to operate inside the USA. See what happens when you find world peace – you have to find something else for bloated agencies to do and in this case it’s breaking the law.

You can always find anecdotal evidence that disputes statistical actuality. The problem today is that mass social media can make small incidental occurrences seem like unadulterated facts.

The Answer:
For me, Macy came to life and took over one of my favorite all time movies, Fargo (Soon to be an Fx Series). He was in plenty including Mr. Holland’s Opus, Ghosts of Mississippi, Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Pleasantville, Panic, Jurassic Park III,  and Stealing Sinatra. When come on the screen, I watch. Bonus: Interestingly, it is not just one region of the country. It is Vermont and Connecticut as well as California, Hawaii and Alaska, Not to be outdone, New York, Wisconsin and Illinois round out the expensive 8. Just a thin penny or so below $4 are Pennsylvania and Michigan. RI Legislators will demand equal representation.

Well, gotta run to my Irish Step Dancing class.
