Much too cold in the Outhouse.

Today's Tids Issue 4,299
Going nowhere:

This is one of those mornings when upon wakening, you run to the kitchen and turn on the toaster to get warm.

We’ve had a pretty good football season, regardless of the occasional ineptitude of my beloved Pats. It was season essentially free from the political bickering of 2017, returning this pastime to what it has always been – a good place to unwind and escape the noise levels of the daily harangues. But, the calm may be interrupted by the black clouds of Kaepernickism. A petition signed by 84,000, Twitter energized, is urging Adam Levine and his Maroon Five to step away for the SB half Time gig in solidarity. So, now you can expect the focus among the intrepid literary warriors will return once again to grass stained knees and the endless agreements around that, instead of feats of valiant men playing for the good of their teams and the elation of their fans. There’s nothing bad about just having the purity of competition for an entire year without interruption.

It’s not my fault that I never learned to accept responsibility.

Carol Channing was one of those great, and thoroughly unique entertainers. She just made me smile. Sleep well.

Most of the time when internet headlines suck you into some story, you are not rewarded.

The Question:
What two teams played in the first Superbowl?

The Headlines:
--Wall Street Expected To Be Cautious Awaiting Earnings Reports –Turns Positive In Mid Morning; Children’s Clothier “Gymboree” Expected To Liquidate Its Remaining 900 Stores.

I liked it better when the headlines were, “Hurricane Forming” instead of today when we see, “Caravans Forming”.

Regardless of whether or not marijuana is legal, is still a drug, doing brain deadening things as drugs are wont to do. Yes, it’s the ole’ walks like a duck thing. Hey, I’m “legally” brain dead. I think.

I think the bookies are having a hard time with their odds on the KC-NE game. A week ago, they were seeing a very good KC team and pretty mediocre NE team, probably not making it to the AFC Championship. After Sunday they are still seeing a pretty good KC team, but now a Patriots team that actually is looking like an urgent championship team of yore.

Happy Birthday to Margaret O’Brien. I think a lot of kids from the 1940’s think they grew up with her. She was definitely a flower in my secret garden.

Word of the Day: “Aegilops”.  It is famous for being the longest word in the English language where all of the letters are in alphabetical order. You may never use tis word unless you are establishing a bread lovers group, perhaps called “Aegilopsians” Aegilops is one of the original genus for grasses typically presumed as “Wheat. Today that genus would be Triticum.

I just read a lengthy article on Japanese sword fighters, but I’m finding it difficult to Samurais for you.

Did you see where President Trump and the White house honored the Clemson National Champions team with a big lunch from fast food places, like Mac’s, Burger King, Subway and others? I expect that today we’ll see vegans protesting the White House. There’s always something.

Constipated people don’t give a crap.

I had to make an informed decision about whether or not to watch the AGT “Greatest Champions Show.” When I was informed that I would still have to listen to the judges, I decided to bail out.

If you analyze the shut down situation, you see both sides pretty much caught between the proverbial “rock and a hard place.” The rock is the Constitution, the hard place is the American public, who after all are supposed to control what the Pols do in Washington. I think almost all Americans are tired of the Shutdown, and the inability of the two sides to negotiate in good faith.

Anti-American behavior was always in the past not tolerated. Today it is anti-protected-precious-segmented-anti-America groups that is chastised.

I remember years ago a guy in a company where I worked was always using the expression, “Between a rock and a hard place”. He thought it was clever. I thought it was annoying. I’m sorry I resorted to using it above.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade, find the person that life handed vodka to, and have a party.

The Answer:
The two in the First Superbowl, January 15, 1967, were Green Bay and Kansas City. The Pack beat the Chiefs 35-10. Today, prognosticators are having Kansas City beat the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl.

Actually, the government seems constipated, and nobody wants to get off the pot.

Ok, Its catchup time on the Parking Lot. Back to new chapters shortly.
There periods of harmony back in olden Sakonnet, except for the occasional new Howland generation who wants to fight the Hicks to take land. But, the Hicks succeeding generations were also tough and perhaps a bit smarter, so the peace was restored. Also, the power of the Hicks has strengthened as all of the Farmers are ow enjoying the fruits of their pact with Richard. Back in the year 2o15, things weren’t’ quiet as harmonious. Jared Hollister and Nancy Joaquim had become quite close as they are exposed to true danger and several frightening skirmishes with small organizations who appear to be the underlying influence for the original attack the Parking lot. But, with each success, a new aggressor arises.
One event changed the balance, and began to bring out into public the entirety of the problems facing Nancy. During the annual Bristol Fourth of July Parade (The largest in the Country) the RI Attorney General marching, smiling and happily waving to crowds, was shot in the middle of the street to the horror of onlookers. But even more horrified was group of wealthy and influential Rhode Islanders who had formed a secret organization with it’s sole purpose to take ownership of all the Hicks’ lands.
We also have learned from visits to the 18th century that the key to ownership was a small cameo with the face of Mulatta. This is the cameo that was the cause for the attack in the Parking lot. The people heading this group were the matriarch of the Howland family, Claudia, and her son, the Lieutenant Governor of the state.
Nancy and Jared Confront Claudia who proceeds to tell them that not only is she a Howland, but also a Hicks through marriage. We know from our return to early 18th century Sakonnet, that harmony was high and Mulatta’s granddaughter married a handsome Howland lad. So now the lines are not so clear.
But, the group of influentials have become very nervous after the murder of the AG, and are asking questions. They learn as does Claudia from Nancy and Jared, that they are being used.
We also learn during visits in the mid 18th century that the harbor village prosperity is waning as new transportation methods arrive and culture changes. And this is where we begin anew..
