Made up minds.

Today's Tids Issue 4,972

Wake up Happy:

The warm morning sun

Should speak of fun,

Of hope and success,

And perhaps romance.

So, I like to awaken

With a smile on my face,

To give each day, a chance!

I like to be happy in the morning, I fact I like to be happy all day long. But new and often irrational irritants seem to creep in daily somehow clouding common sense. So, that’s why I don’t listen to news at dawn, but only soft, ethereal, mindless music.

And my mind today is squarely focused on tonight’s first NFL exhibition game, which will generate all kinds of new arguments, none of which will destroy the world.

I recently decided to sell my vacuum cleaner, all it was doing was gathering dust.

The Question:

Somebody did a poll on the Tastiest Sandwiches around the world we should try. Name five.

The Headlines:

--New Jobless Claims Down Again To 375K; 3 major Markets Opens Slogging Along In Minus Numbers; Nasdaq Reverses At Mid Morning..

--Taliban Takes Tenth Provincial Capital; New Success Places Taliban Forces On Road To Kabul.

--Census Bureau To Release New Numbers Tomorrow.

Today is National Julienne Fries Day! That should make the prospects for a good day brighter.

I personally have trouble understanding how trillions of dollars are going stop something as ornery and unpredictable as climate, inner workings of earth miles below the crust. And the moving Tectonic plates and all of that stuff that money won’t touch.

The Census releases its numbers tomorrow, Politicians are stumbling over each other to get in line before the retracting. 7 states will lose one Congress person: California, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. Texas will gain 2 seats. Gaining one seat each are Oregon, Montana, Colorado, Florida and North Carolina. For some reason Little Old Rhody managed to hang on to two. It seems to me that the population here has been stagnant for years. Maybe they are counting summer residents. The three most impactful EC States are now Cal, Texas and Florida. the Northeastern states are losing out.

Did you ever think that the USA could be in danger of crumbling over arguments about wearing masks?

There one of those I’ve-got-nothing-better-to-do-today protests up the road from here at Raytheon. It’s against them as suppliers of “killing” weapons to the Middle east they probably forgot or never wanted to know in the first place that Raytheon provides defense systems to Israel so they won’t get wiped off the face of the earth by a maniacal Middle East regime. Angrier children playing in the street again. Didn’t their mom ever tell them it was dangerous. Don’t confuse their made-up minds with the facts.

And, I was really, really happy today before I heard this. BTW, this Raytheon site is a navel systems and sea power facility employing about 1,000 hardworking Americans.

Exactly how will EV cars stop the advance of Climate problems considering that they will place enormous demands upon power generation? And nasty battery disposal.

Remember how after every tactical move the US would make in Afghanistan over the past 20 years, somebody who knew something would say, “The Taliban will just slip into obscurity and wait it out as they have for centuries.” They did.

If somebody says you are “Street Smart”, be sure they aren’t talking about Sesame Street.

The Answer:

Number One is the Gyro form Greece. #2 is Medianoche (Cuba) then chopped Barbecue (US), Classic Panino, Chivito (Steak - Uruguay), Montreal Smoked Meat, Pork Chop Bun (Macau), Arepas (Venezuela), Tripleta (Chick-Ham-Beef – PR) and #10 Falafel (Middel East). My daughter when young called it the “Feel Awful” Sandwich. I still do.) A favorite Sandwich China is called a “Donkey Burger”! Yikes! Two days ago I had a Pork schnitzel sandwich that couldn’t have been better. Cheek out Germany too. I’ll take a New England fried Haddock sandwich any day.

Did you hear about the guy who was happy he finished the puzzle in 5 hours since the box said 3-5 years.
