DC Subterfuge.

Today's Tids Issue 5,023

Deer Me:

The leaves are turning,

Fall winds are churning

And people are yearning

For hot summer’s burning.

That’s just what people do.

Deer mating season has a tinge of romance attached to it, but not when a glassy eyed buck walks aimlessly in front if your car. When you stand looking at the twisted metal of your front end, just think, it is just all about love.

Today’s most aggravating annoyance is having to walk back to your car because you forgot your mask in the glove compartment.

Remember when people used to enjoy eating cake after people blew on it?

The Question:

What is the name of the canal that linked Buffalo and New York City in 1824?

That volcano in the Canary Islands is now like a faucet of lava that just keeps on giving. Maybe it will form a new continent by the time it is climate change funded plumber shows up. The earth has been recreating itself for 4.54 billion years.

The Voice seems better this year. Right now, Ed Sheeran is the overall coach for the singers and last night a trio called “A Girl Named Tom” was breathtaking. They took the rather simple song Wichita Lieman and elevated to classic status. I’ll be rooting for them. Another super singer I noticed above the crowd was Joshua Vacanti -- really got into you. And also, another leader in the clubhouse to watch closely is Wendy Moten. Just wanted you to know that the Tids Music Department is on the scene and ready to bore you all to tears when the live performances begin. But those three will be three to watch. Until we see what emerges tonight.

The Dems of RI have played get the rich for decades, and now wonder why businesses are reluctant to move here. Rhode Island: the Duh State.

If there has ever been an industry that coins money, it is the software-heavy tech businesses. The beauty of it for humans is that this industry costumes smart humans and will pay very well to get the smartest and best. The only problem may be is that one of these super smart humans is working on an AI solution that will replace these smart humans. And then these Tech businesses will coin even more money.

The Virginia election will tell us a lot. Over the years, Terry McAuliffe has always had one of those irritable personalities that chafes me. I’m hoping a lot of people feel the same in combination with the increasingly chafing Biden admin.

Janet Yellen said yesterday that the “Unrealized capital gains tax” now be promoted by the Dems is not a “Wealth Tax”. Yeah, sure.

The Unrealized Capital Gains Tax concept is one scary idea. It may be the scariest of them all, a real Halloween horror show. It would tax the government (IRS) estimated gains in value of your investments, homes, artwork, Ted Williams baseball cards, and anything else that goes up in value. And the clincher is that if goes down you don’t get a dime back for the loss. It is punitive and probably unworkable. Talk w about the establishment of “Little America” in Argentina! (Note: It is said to be only aimed at the billionaire level wealthy. But that’s what they said about the current income tax system when it was first enacted.)

Yes, plenty of people are thinking of schemes like that because there just isn’t enough money to pay for all of the give-away programs.

A prolific reader contributor tells me, “Thanks to Church rules about witnessed miracles, Biden could be named a saint because of all the voters he raised from the dead last November.”

Before becoming Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen had a smidgeon of credibility. She seemed to be a knowledgeable source. Now she just looks like another political hack.

In case you are interested, Japanese Princess Mako who gave up royalty married her college sweetheart. Aaah, love!

The Answer:

It was derided as Clinton’s Ditch, but known then and now as the Eire Canal that brought together the huge northeast state New York. (Huge before the West was won).

Whistle a happy tune and you’ll always be able to get through the muck. Or, hum, if you can’t whistle.
