The olde even keel Theory.

Today's Tids Issue 5,279

We still remember:

The drumbeat of cable news. all cable news, is becoming boring to me. I tune in anymore and I just glaze over. I don’t think politics is needs as much time as it gets. How much more can they tell me about scoundrels that I didn't already know. I do go to cable news for major event reports, and then they drumbeat that to death too, no matter how tragic or terrific, It’s just the nature of repetition.

Apparently there is on%e thing that both parties can agree on, -- that misinformation is dangerous to the health of the country. Misinformation can be classified as advanced hyperbole, overreaching exuberance or just plain bold-faced lying. “Overall, 91% of adults say the spread of misinformation is a problem, with 74% calling it a major problem.” Big majorities in both parties – 72% of repubs and 85% of Dems -- say it increases hate crimes, including violence motivated by gender, religion or race. But in reading these numbers you have to wonder if the two parties are actually talking about the other party's misinformation as being the problem while regarding everything they have to say as fact.

But, tempering exuberance is one way to survive day to day in a declining stick market.

OMG?? Slippery criminals are now selling “Edibles: in real colorful Cheeto bags. No wonder the Tids looks a little cloudy these days.

And these heartless little drug dealing bastards are also finding putting MJ edibles in kid’s snack favorite packaging a way to get children hooked. Drug dealers are a manace. Period.

“The older you get, the better you get, unless you are a banana.” Betty White

Yesterday it was revealed that NE Patriots owner Bob Craft donated $50 Million Dollars to the great Massachusetts General Hospital. A big Huzzuh for Robert. The United States would work quite well if we moved fro, Government largess to genuine citizen responsibility.

A lot of these apps and their supporters always tell me that they will make my life easier. My life couldn’t get any easier. And limiting apps means I don’t have to expose my life and daily movements to strangers in space.

The Question:

Who is Bennie Thompson? Bonus: 956 years ago today a battle occurred than many said changed the world as it was at the time. What was it?

The Headlines:

--Markets Take Morning Nosedive Following Happy Juice Previous Afternoon; Bank Earnings Flow In: JPM Chase, WF Beat; Morgan Stanly Missies A Bit, Citi Misses Badly; Inflation Still Stagnates Market.

--5 killed In Raliegh NC Neighborhood Mass Shooting.

--J6 Committee Issues Subpoena To DT; Dt Saus I Lie It.

--Food Giants Kroger And Albertsons Join In Mega Merger; Will It Fall Into Anti-Trust Web.

--UK PM Liz Truss Announces U Turn In Country's Tax Policy. Moves To Assure Financial Markets Of Positive New Direction; “Sacks” Her Chanceller Kwasi Kwarteng; Kwasi Had Announced Unfunded Tax Breaks That Send Financial Markets Into A descending Eddy.

--USSC Rejects Trump Plea For Help In Mara Lago Docs Battle.

I generally avoid quotes about how much fun it is getting old, but I kind of liked this one from a good ole great cousin: “The nicest thing that I experience as I get older is the joy of getting older. I feel so free, relaxed, glad to just be myself.  The hardest thing is to outlive my friends and family members. I can enjoy them only in my memories.”

But as I said the Tids a week or so ago, I'm not getting older. My body is.

It appears that inflation is forcing the powers that control our lives to increase Social Security income by 8.7 %. Isn’t that inflationary in itself. The vicious cycle of government induced economics strikes again.

Trump says he would look forward to testifying before the J6 Gang. The networks would love it even more, calling it historic must see TV. I can see the big PT Barnum liike build-up promotion now.

Basically, in my mind Alexa is a big old surreptitious snoop. I always tip toe past her.

You may have heard of the athlete transfer portal. That ls where if kids don't like their coach or their playing time or professors who make them work in class can jump in it and find a new college tems with no penalties. Now I see that there are still 600 kids in the portal which means they now have no college, no scholarship. Tey are lost in the system. And nobody cares. That ls pretty sad. Yes, the big money NCAA honchoes don’t care about the kids left strewn alongside the road.

The best to college football games should be Michigan versus Penn State, TCU versus Oklahoma State and mighty Alabama , minus super QB against a very good Tennessee Vols team.

Halloween gets here earlier and earlier. Weird. And I care less and less. It is the result of another over promoted cultural event losing its unique appeal.

The Climate Change movement is loaded with over-reactionaries. And yesterday you may have heard that two of these misguided crusaders strolled into London's National Gallery and threw tomato soup at Van Gogh's great sunflower painting. Even some overzealous Climate Change loons would be embarrassed by that. (This just in: The painting has been cleaned and returned to its spot in the Gallery.)

Just in case you have been wondering, Saudi Arabia says the Biden Admin asked OPEC for a one-month delay in the Production cut. In case you are counting, that would put the cut after the elections. Nay, no US politician would ever play that game.

The Answer:

Frankly I saw Bennie Thompson's name for the first time on the tube last night and I didn’t realize he was the chairman of The J6 Committee. I guess I’m out of touch. Bonus: Today is the day Willaim the Conqueror of Normandy won the big historic and significant battle of Hastings in 1066 against the Englishman Harold Godwinson King of The Anglo Saxons. It was a battle between the Frend Normans and the English to determine the succession to the British Throne. It followed the death of the Childless Edward the Confessor. The takeover by the Normans after 600 years if Anglo Saxon rule opened up England to the rest of Europe. That brought many changes including the establishment of common law.

By the way, the entire story of the event was hand stitched into a 70-meter-long comic strip like depiction called the Bayeux Tapestry

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
