Where will we find the chips.

Today's Tids Issue 5,284

Living day to day:

The “Peanuts” Comic made me chuckle this morning, it’s always good to start the week with a chuckle.

One of the funnier misused phrases these days is “Affordable Housing”: There is a proposal to build apartments in an old Providence RI classic skyscraper known as the “Superman Building”. The price list indicates to me that it is only affordable to those NYC denizens looking for cheaper digs and who are willing to commute two hours to NYC.

One piece of music I have not yet quite figured out is Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony. It must have been in his transitional period, if he had one. But, I like it anyhow.

If I were Xi and trying to establish fear to illustrate ultimate power to competitors and all fellow Chinese and assure my continuous seat at the top of the Communist Party, I would surely have my predecessor, former President Hu Jintao, escorted out of the Communist Congress meeting in a way that all of China and the world would see. Xi allows nothing to be shown to the outside world unless he wants the outside world to see it.

The Question:

What two NY NFL Teams play regularly in New York? Bonus: Who was Blanche S. Scott?

The Headlines:

--Wall Street Looks Ahead To Big Earnings Week; Futures Tend To Indicate Strong Opening; Exchanges Appear Mixed Just After Opening.

--SF Fed Prez Mary Daly: “Central bank Should Avoid Putting Economy Into ‘Unforced Slowdown”; “Time to Ease Back on Rate Hikes.

--Rishi Sunak Named New PM of UK.

--North And South Korea Exchange Gunfire After NK Ship Slips Into SK Waters.

--National Students Math and Reading Scores Plummeted During Covid Isolation.

I am finding that I have been replying to all your comments and notes as they come in but later find my replies in “Drafts”. Whoops.  I had forgotten to press send. So all of you who felt you deserved to receive comment, it is in here somewhere. The immediacy and relevance of the response has passed us by. Sorry. I just want you to know I have read and absorbed everything sent.

At the end of the National Best Pets ceremonies, they presented the award for the sexiest feline- It was a catastrophe. (Thanks to a rather intelligent insightful reader)

The Ya, Ya, Ya... (Well, you know who I mean), the Ya,Ya,Ya’s lost... The Ya, Ya, Ya’s,...LOST. Heh, Heh, He, Heh. (Evil snicker)

A famous, critics favorite, adulated film Director does not make a piece of garbage movie watchable. Unless you turn it off after opening the credits.

I truly love potato chips, preferrable without flavoring or too much salt. But my craving will be nothing compared to what it will be when US manufactures face an enormous chip shortage if Taiwan falls badly. The country is in Xi’s deep frier already and he is ready to turn up the heat. There is no question in my mind about that.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has just over 50% market share for all semiconductors in the world Mighty Samsung is number two at about 17%. TSMC and Samsung are the only two operations in the world capable of manufacturing the next generation 3-nanometer chips, just about ready to flow into production. An invasion of Taiwan will not only be a horrible human catastrophe for sure, and it could put China in control of other world economies now so dependent on the “Chip”, including ours.

The global Chip industry is a novel which I am not prepared to write.

I think Robert H. Bork would have been a great Supreme Court Justice.

They say that in the approval of Xi for a third term came with the removal of constitutional restrictions against a one man becoming an autocratic leader.

I see where Georgia Meloni has been elected first woman Premier of Italy. She is also surprisingly clearly a right-wing politician. She firmly avows she will not be Mussolini II.

Did you hear about the Franciscan Monk who jumped out of teh frying pan into the Friar? (Thanks to Shoe).

The Phrase, “New York Times Best Sellers” had always bothered me. It should be the NY Times List of Best Sellers. The NYTs didn't sell anything. Bestsellers are bestsellers regardless of which list they are on.

Today is National Kangaroo Awareness Day. Why would the USA have a special day for an Australian animal. Unless we are celebrating a congressional trial going on in DC.

The Answer:

The two NY Teams who play regularly in the state of New York are Buffalo and the NY Jets. The Jets Play one game a year in Buffalo. The other team that uses NY in their name, the NY Giants, plays games in New Jersey and only in Buffalo whenever a scheduling quirk sends them there. The Jets also play in NJ, but also once a year always in Buffalo. Bonus: Blanche Scott was the first woman to make a solo flight in an aircraft. It was 1912 and she got up tp 12 feet off the ground. It was quite the feat.

It appears to me that the election will come down on which of two strategies tickle the hearts of most people – broad, remote national ideologies, or regular day to day daily life issues and pocketbook issues. People versus agenda politics.

Velcro. What a rip-off.
