As they say, the sun is always up there above the clouds.

Today's Tids Issue 5,327

There's more to life than rants:

If you look out and see skies of grey, think of two in love walking and smiling and laughing in the rain, and how the day just seems brighter.

Isn’t that better to think about than talking of Trump’s mug shot ad nauseum.

Or that one of the largest countries in the world is run by a despot where somehow all of his critics manage to disappear without a trace.

So I say, Support bacteria – they’re the only culture some people have.

The Question:

Fans across the country voted for the best baseball teams of all time. It wasn’t about individual years but collective accomplishments over time. over time. What were the top Ten in this National poll. Bonus: Who is John Wick?

The Headlines:

--Markets Expected to Drift until Powell Speaks Later; Nordstrom Warns Retail Sales and Credit Card Revenue to Drop 4-6%.

--Nordstrum Says that Retail Losses from Theft are at a Historic High.

--Kremlin Vehemently Denies That It Authorized Take-Down of Plane That Killed Putin Critic Prigozhin.

--1,732 Reported Missing After Maui Disaster Have been accounted for;114 Bodies Have been found; 388 Still Missing.

--Heineken Sells Russia Operation to Russian Manufacturer for 1 Euro; Company Vowed to Leave After Russia Invaded Ukraine.

--In Post Debate Poll, Repubs Say DeSantis Won the Night; Vivek and Niiki Followed as Only other two in Double Figures; Pence was Fourth.

Say it ain’t so, Mookie:

This is a sweet and sour day for Red Sox fans. The great and beloved Mookie Betts returns to Fenway, but alas in a Dodger uniform. He coulda bin a sox lifer. I know most of you don’t care about that but being an editor no matter how grand or low, has its advantages.

Nvidia is FOMO producing. It may not be as dangerous as the dot com bust. A Is that because AI will tend to preserve the sanctity of its own stocks?

Yahoo News picks three Repubs who they say are “Normalish”. Three who could run a private company and pull over many moderate swing voters. They are Niiki Haley, Asa Hutchinson and according to them, semi normal, Chris Christie. I personally agree, the country needs a little bit of this thinking. But the big question always remains: Would anything quell the intolerance and venom of the left.

Life’s like a bird. It’s pretty cute until it poops on your head.

Here’s the kind of Headlines which are becoming far to frequent in the news: “17-Year-Old Boy arrested for shooting 14-year-old boy in the face.” (Note, the 14 yo is still alive, and the shooting may have been unintentional) But other inconceivable shootings similar to this are not. I just don’t understand how you can shoot somebody.

Lately, I've seen some news segments and commercials extolling the benefits of joining the US Army and none of them indicates that fighting is part of the package. Actually, most of the scenes look like one big smiley coffee klatch with crafts and happy activities among peeps of different identities.

US Steel was the symbol of American dominance in the world economy until just about 30 some years ago. Now it’s a mid-sized cap on the chopping block to be snagged cheaply by other mid-sized cap companies looking for lower cost additions to their structure. What is interesting is that US Steel reigned and determined the fate of the Srock Markets for nearly 100 years. How long will today’s magnificent genius companies last at the top. History works, if you pay attention.

Headline from above: “Nordstrum Says that Retail Losses from Theft are at a Historic High.” Activists will say, it is only fair that the poor get something for nothing.

I'll be rooting for Keegan Bradly to keep it going at the Atlanta FedEx final. I often root for underdogs, but they have to earn it.

The Answer:

Number one was the Ya, Ya, Ya... well, you know who I mean. Next are the LA Dodgers followed by Saint Louis Cards, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, Oakland A’a and Pittsburgh Pirates. The Next Ten are Toronto, NY Mets, San Fran, Baltimore, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit, Chi White Sox, LA Angels and Kansas City.  To me the Brooklyn Dodgers were an entity unto themselves, and the LA version is just a divorced parent. Bonus: John Wick is a retired assassin who returns back to his old ways after a group of Russian gangsters steal his car and kill a puppy which was gifted to him by his late wife Helen. It is an action thriller now in its fourth sequel. John just gets sucked in deeper and deeper. Why haven’t I seen this? That is the question.

I was going to ask my question today as: What are the best movies so far this year. But I didn’t know any of them except a couple. BTW, Oppenheimer was #1 and Barbie was #8. Also listed was one on my list, Mission Impossible at #7. I will see that some day.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

And remember rain is happiness (Unless you have panned a $100,000 destination wedding!):
