Reds, oranges, yellows into Black.

Today's Tids Issue 5,375

Windmills of the world:

Yes, a day late but still the wonderful November that always ends with a gigantic thank you. Isn't it nice to know that thank you and please are still words in our vocabulary even in a world where too many people without asking steamroller over others. But I degress because November is that month slightly warmish and very happiish. The trees become bare but the air pleasantly brisk. Around here the tourists free our streets and byways though retailers have to plan hibernation well. But November is peaceful. Some NFL teams are in and some like mine have totally lost their way. Pumpkin Spice season is waning but I'm sure it will be in turkey stuffing somewhere. Ad Execs are creating lovable Christmas commercials that would warm hearts and open wallets. And then before you know it's Black Friday. What a Terrible way to end a beautiful month. November is wonderful but a bit of a dichotomy. But I'll always take it over August. Sorry August.

You always know when you find a special friend. Of all the things on this big complex earth, that is something to be truly cherished.

The Phantom World Series ended last night, and in case you hadn’t noticed, Texas won rather easily 4-1. Yes, it was the lowest rated TV series of all.

The Question:

Steohanie Powers turned a youthful 81 today. I alwsy loved her married couple TV series. What was its name and who was the co-star?

The Headlines:

--Market Mavens Betting on End of Fed Hikes; All Markets Surges Early and Grows Stringer Durin the Day.

--Israel Moves Ground Game Further Towards Gaza City; Diplomats Rushing to Find Peaceful Cease Fire.

--North Korea’s Kim Comes out to back Hamas.

--The Great but Irascible Bobby Knight Dies at 83.

I seem to have had more shots in the past three years than I had in my previous 8 decades, Am I some part of a grand Artificial Intelligence experiment?

The TidsPickers were sailing along last Sunday with a steady wind at their backs. until KC lost and the Browns messed up at the last seconds. Ugh, as a friend of mine might say. Our reord jumps to 75-46 (62%) A long way from my annual goal of 75%. If we go 15-1 the rest of the way the TPs will hit 78.3 %. Hah! There are some really nice and important games this weekend, a lot of tough picks. Sien will be undermined by unforeseen disturbances like the firing of LV’s McDaniel's and year ending injury to Minn’s very good Kurt Cousins. And more. The top games are Pitt-Tenn, Balt-Seattle, KC-Miami, Dallas-Philly, Cinn-Buff, and LAC-Jets. Atlanta-Minn would have been a top tussle but maybe not so much now without Cousins. Will the new Tenn Wunderkind Levis stand up to the always tough Pitt D. I say yes. KC has looked sluggish. But Miami, the new media darling again, hasn’t beat anybody. KC comes through. Seattle is resourceful and I like them. And Geno has gotten it done. Super QB Lamar Jackson has been up and down, but I'll take Baltimore. Like KC, the other 2022 SB team, Philly has not been a well-oiled machine, but they still have the power and the better QB. I’ll stay with the Eagles. Joe Burrow looked like the best QB of the century last week and the rest of the Bengals woke up. I think Buffalo has looked ragged. I’ll stay with Cincy. The Jets still are lacking an “O” The Chargers are getting better and I'll take them

Of the rest, I have New Orleans over Chicago, New England with No receivers over Washington which traded away their D. I'll take Atlanta over Minn, the Rams over the Pack, and Tampa Bay over Houston. Indy has disappointing and the Panthers need a win badly. But Ill go Indy. Las Vegas is a big gamble this week, but the Giants have no Offence lately. Yet, I think the Giants will win it. Cleveland can be a mystery team and has lost heartbreakers. But the will take care of Arizona. I'm not feeling real confident this week. Too many ifs.

What does a Carolina Panthers fan do when his team has won the Super Bowl? He turns off the PlayStation 3.

Just in case you missed it along with the World Series, China has deployed six warships to the Middle East. The US j has two large Aircraft Carrier forces there. The good news is that the US force is far stronger. The bad news is that China is there.

Alternative energy ideas are more than likely always going to be inflationary. The reason so any creative, “Sounds great” power generation ideas are not operational up to now is because they are just not efficient which makes then cost prohibitive. Which means to succeed they have to be subsidized, which just doesn't work well in a free market economy.

What do the Patriots and the Post Office have in common? A: Neither deliver on Sundays!

Achieving desired alternative energy capabilities will be difficult because Government is setting the targets without giving due respect to the ability of private enterprise to get there. Check out the subsidized Post Office and Amtrack experiments.

Why does the government have to subsidize railroads? Because business can’t afford mandated extra employees. Watch out auto industry.

A city slicker decides to move to the country. He buys 5 acres of land and decides to grow chickens. He goes to the hatchery and orders 500 baby chicks. 2 weeks later He goes back and orders 500 more. 2 weeks later He goes back and orders 500 more baby chicks. Finally, the owner just has to ask. Mister, I know you only have 5 acres what are you doing with all those baby chicks? The slicker says, I just can’t get them to grow. I don’t know if I am not giving them enough water or if I am burying them too deep”!

Here we go again, Culture Cancel in Birdland. And it ain’t a lullaby. Audubon himself, the guy who made bird loving a pastime and who was a fantastic avian artist has been banned to nowhere’s-ville because he owned slaves. And these eagle-eyed red breasted wokies of birder city are about to change the names of 70-80 birds in US and Canada. Just because a man or woman who discovered the birds in question was once brushed by something acceptable then bit somehow abhorrent now. Who, me?

1964 will be with us tomorrow. Hint: Can you spell “T-o-n-k-i-n? Or remember the rise of a new class of the most influential musicians? (Of course, tat us just one generation's opinion) See you tomorrow.

The Answer:

Stephanie Powers and Robert Wagner genuinely loved each other as they played the husband wife sleuths on Hart to Hart. Thats what everybody on the set said and that's why the series was so much fun. It was a must-see favorite back in the 70’s. Stepfanie's original name was Taffy Paul.

November is the month when people are finally back doing things in earnest. Probably so they can feel comfortable about having accomplished something before the all-consuming holiday season.

And of course, November is for Veterans. Those amazing people who gave it all. The soldiers and sailors and Marines. The fighting force who flew beyond other's imaginations. And those who slogged through stormy oceans to protect our shores. Where the only indentity needed is brave.

Why did the pilgrim’s pants keep falling down? Because his buckle was on his hat.
