Then one day, without Warning.

Today's Tids Issue 4,645
Drownng out the bells.

I think America has been doing a wonderful job of saluting the frontline medical people helping us all fight this unknown assassin. But daily I remember the, what is it today, about 68,000 who have died, and of the 200,000 to half a million people who had been friends or family, now morning in lonely social distance havens. Every day, we should ring the bell slowly.

The immensity of our threat makes utterings of politicians seem quite ordinary, empty.

A writer notes that when this is over the “Model” will equivocate to “Guessed wrong”.

The Question:
Who is Michael Fay? Bonus: Who is Jerry Harvey?

The Headlines:
--Markets Open Strong As Some States Open Up for Business.
--Pfizer Launches Human Trials Of Possible CV vaccine.
--J. Crew Declares bankruptcy; Five Other Retailers On the Cusp Are JC Penny, Ascena (Ann Taylor, Tailored Brands (Jos Bank, Men’s Warehouse) Loft Lane Bryant et.al.), Lands’ End, Neiman Marcus
--Popular Miami Park Closed After Police Issue 7,329 Warnings About Not Wearing Face Masks.
--15 Children In NYC Found With Symptoms of Toxic Shock (Kawasaki Disease); Rare Inflammatory Artery Disease May Be A Result of Covid Infection; Also Found In Europe.
--AOC Congressional District Declared “Nation’s Most Devastated Hot Zone Of the Coronavirus Outbreak.

Yesterday’s Tids was too long. I should have saved some of it for today.

Is there a better example of how dangerous progressive ideology is to America than the current social media rush to a pop idea of “Canceled rents”, as espoused by AOC and her gullible followers?

A lot of aches and pains fade away if you just go out and do something.

The Voice began its live tournament last night, and it was definitely not the usual night of singing. Frankly I was not moved that much, although I thought several sang quite well. I was looking forward to more from Zan Fiskum, but her Blowin’ in the Wind just didn’t make it. Another singer I like Allegra did rise to the occasion. Thunderstorm Artis is talented, and he it sowed last night. I didn’t think that much of the touted Arel Moon. I also enjoyed Mandi Castillo. Also, CammWess was very cool and professional with Ain’t No Sunshine. But, I got tired of listening. One of my favorites for the show is Magen Danielle, but her song selection was tough to get across although a lot of her emotions and deep, distinctive voice were There. I personally like Micah Iverson a lot. Sometimes it is the song that does it for me, but this guy can sing. Toniesha Harris is strong, and she showed it last night. Popular Blake Singer Todd Tiglhman was below average, I thought. He could have been one of the finalists. I like Joanna Serenko, but I didn’t like Rich Girl.

So, who will get cut in this new The Voice format? Voter will save one each for each team and the Coaches will save one. And there will be one wild card save bringing the next group to 9. (Note. Now all coaches will be in the race with equal representation, but also meaning some better tales gets shoved aside. It’s like Trophy’s for al; or coaches to assuage abused egos.) Based on a little I have seen, top vote getters could be Thunderstorm, Todd, Toneisha, Camm, Allegra Johanna, Micha and Megan. Results will be live tonight. BTW, the opening with James Taylor and all contestants singing along from home was very good.

The Voice this year is filling in for the lack of sports events to handicap.

I don’t know why, but we have become for sure an either/or society. People seem to have a hard time wrapping tier minds around duel problem solving which are highly related to each other. Of course, the newest prime example is “Save lives versus rebuild economy.” Both are in fact equally critical to a future. They are mutually intertwined. Maybe it’s social media maniacs again.

When climate “model’s” invariably turn out wrong scientists never say we “Guessed wrong”, it’s always we “Revised the model”. So says our resident reader expert on the potential vagaries of modeling.

Nannying Government care can go too far. People are asked to wear masks so they will not harm others especially those in high risk categories like diabetics. If the government thinks caring for  diabetics is so serious, maybe next they will mandate these citizens with a chronic diseases to  wear mask to prevent them from eating sugar.

Black humor can be very funny. And often makes a point. The art is to tell it in such a way that those at the butt of the joke aren’t offended and, more important, laugh along with you.

“Madam, could you please tell your son to stop imitating me, it’s vey annoying.”
“I’m so sorry…Harry! stop acting stupid!”

The Answer:
Michael Fay was the American kid who learned the hard way tha “Boys being boys” doesn’t go over well in Singapore, and he received 4 lashes in public to show that laws of social responsibility are quite serious. (4 was reduced from 6 By Bill Clinton interventions). Bonus: Jerry Harvey was the Jeopardy champion (He had won $70K in two matches) who was beaten by Ken Jennings who as most everybody knows went on to become the all-time winner.

Dong, Dong, Dong, Dong, Dong…
