What ever happened to earning?

Today's Tids Issue 4,880

Be Thankful:

I think this afternoon I’ll walk around and see which flowers are beginning to pop. I noticed that in the last couple of days the trees on hillsides running down to the sea are red budded again. All this means in addition to the breathtaking feelings of rebirth, is that the budding of tourists is not far behind. I like this time of year. For a while.

We are assuming that everything is back to normal, but there are still unknowns about the vaccines. The 2-shotters are feeling invulnerable, but can they still be carriers if they begin to disregard sound anti-germification principles. And how long to do vaccinations last? It’s good to feel normal, actually great! But it is also good to be wise.

I always liked Prince Phillip, until I saw The Crown. I hate it when movies affect my opinions. It’s too bad he couldn’t hold on for another couple of months until he hit 100. Actually, I still like him despite the Crown. Hail to the good Prince, the cool Duke of Edenborough.

The no- shotters aren’t even trying to understand the ramifications. Not getting a shot for political reasons is nuts.

I miss a lot of phone calls because I turn off the sound on my phone so I won’t hear those commercials I mistakenly click on.

The Question:

Quick… Name the original 7 astronauts!

The Headlines:

--Markets Mixed

--Unionization Of Alabama Amazon Warehouse Headed For 2 to 1 Defeat.

--Southwest Pulling Some Boeing 737 Max Jets Off Schedules.

--England’s Prince Phillip Dies At 99 Years And 10 Months; Queen Elizabeth Mourns Husband of 73 Years.

--Biden’s First Budget Request Asks For Huge Funding Increases In Education, Health Care And Environmental Protection.

Have you noticed lately that every person elevated to a position of important is always introduced as the first in their race, ethnic group, gender, sexual persuasion, age and any other identity classification term… except in terms of capability ad competence?

The big question among the culturally inquisitive is whether or not Harry will become and responsible adult and do the right thing to honor his grandfather and comfort his grandmother.

Hey Joe, didn’t anybody ever tell you that more money doesn’t improve education. Only talking to union chiefs will never give you the whole story but it will help you get votes. BTW, did you notice that all of the money the Prez is seeking in his first budget request was pretty much a part of the $3 trillion just passed into law. Double dipping?

The ten most competitive housing markets in America are San Jose, San Francisco, Raleigh NC, Portland Or, San Diego, Los Angeles, Boston, Kansas City, NYC, Minneapolis and Milwaukee. The Competences rating is based on average credit scores of buyers, average down payments and amount of mortgage shopping.

If you are an unlawful immigrant and can’t collect unemployment because you broke the law to get here and aren’t even recognized within the system, you are in luck by god. Move to New York City! The progresses there are going to give every illegal immigrant $15 K to help them survive in the society they crashed. The largess is expected to slide through with little opposition because it is felt that Andrew Cuomo has lost the juice to stop it.

In case you haven’t noticed, progressives seem to be slipping into local government positions on a new geometric progression. That’s where grass roots are attacked by grubs.

The Solar Winds security Brach may be the scariest of all world events. The fear of the WH National Security Council cyber experts is that Russia in a nano second could turn it from simple spying operation into destruction of USA networks. Talk about hostage taking.

The Answer:

They were known as “The Mercury 7”. those gallant men reaching for the stars. At that time, they were about was well known as anybody in America. They were real celebrities with substance. Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom and John Glenn come first to mind for me. Then I remember Deke Slayton and Garden Cooper. It took a minute to recall Wally Schirra and Scott Carpenter. But, these were the brave heroes of the day who would venture into the unknown vacuum without previous knowledge of experience but the words of Russian Cosmonauts. And of  course the confidence of the brains of engineers.

Do you realize how much stuff people take for granted that only exist because of the brilliance of human engineers?

Have a great and happy weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

Remember an engineer over the weekend. Drive across a great bridge and don’t worry about it falling down.
