Consequences.

Today's Tids Issue 5,089

When the sun fades:

Are all of those free cash giveaways during the Pandemic crazy panic times are coming back to haunt us as the specters inflation and labor shortages. You can make a great case for it. The Ghosts of handout’s past. There are no free lunches

I really don’t like zooming at all. I’d rather be with people.

I forgot to mention on Friday that “Ozark’s” new season began that night. It was as tense ad always. Will the Byrdes ever get out of their entanglement? You want to binge this one to find out where it all goes, but then there would be nothing to look forward to in the wasteland each week. Patience can be painful, but it has its rewards.

The markets have a long way back.

The great quote about Richard Wagner’s music: “It is really much better than it sounds.” Personally, there are days when it just fits my mood.

We as humans go merrily on our way and suddenly realize that we are being controlled by unintended consequences.

The Question:

What are considered the 10 best symphonies? Bonus: What did Jamas W. Marshall Discover in California in 1848?  Extra Bonus: What is the real name of Apple’s “Mac”? Super Extra Bonus: I what country did the terms “Kayak” ad “Igloo” originate?

The Headlines:

Wow, “Last Second Field Goal Weekend” was perhaps the greatest NFL tournament ever – four really exciting games decided with no seconds left! I feel really bad for Buffalo, but Josh Allen lived up to his press clippings. The kid is a winner, and of course so is Patrick Mahomes, still the magician. I feel good for Matthew Stafford, always a very good QB who finally got out of Detroit to show the world how good he really is. Probably the most skitterish QB of the weekend was Jimmy G.

I left my front door open and my Roomba got out, and now I can't find it. What are the consequences of this? It has no natural predators, except that nature abhors a vacuum.

If I was still drinking, I would probably never drink Michelob Ultra because the label is ugly… and why would I be tempted by a company that has to call its own product “Ultra” instead of letting the customers do it. I make life hard on myself.

Stock Market Geniuses aren’t looking so smart the past two weeks. Q4 earnings have been tepid, but the real problem is Guidance. And high-flying techs with no earnings. Is this judgment week?

When the digital systems that give you the internet and streaming and telephone ad TV go berserk, it is really, really nice to have a good ole plug-in AM radio.

All I ever get from Vannah and Pat is, “Better luck next time”.

I miss getting up and going to work. But I will not become a Walmart greeter.

Schubert is a bridge between Mozart and Brahms. Except his Great 9th symphony which is right there at the top.

The Answer:

Now this is an answer that will have many critics because everybody has their own best liked. But here goes: Dvorak #9- New World, Mozart #41, Berlioz Symphony Fantastique, Mahler #2 Resurrection, Brahms #4, Gorecki #3, Shostakovich #5, Beethoven #9, Tchaikovsky #6, Rachmaninov #2 and Schubert #9. Some others noted on lists are Franck’s Symphony in D, Mendelssohn’s #2, Mahler’s #6 and Sebelius #5. Bonus: John Marshall found a nugget at Sutter’s Mill which gave us the “Forty Niners”.  Extra Bonus: I’m sure you all got this one fast. Mac stands for MacIntosh, now close to 40 years old. Yikes! Super Extra Bonus: I was surprised to learn that Igloo and Kayak originated in Greenland, our planet’s 12t largest country.

Procrastination finally caught up to me and I faced the consequences. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

Tune in!

Happy week, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
