Today's Tids Issue 5,084

Words have power:

I've spent my Covid isolation reading the Thesaurus. Because a mind is a terrible thing to garbage.

Today is National Thesaurus Day. I’d better watch my word operation or I’ll be naked.

A lot of politicians like Bill Di Blasio aways vow to fight inequality as long as it doesn’t disrupt their own privileged lives.

Some courageous people from both parties are saying that Manchin and Sinema should be given jointly the Kennedy Center “Profile in Courage Award” this year. That is if there is courage among the electors.

My new thesaurus is alright, but I wouldn't say it's anything to write house about.

The Question;

If famous authors had a Thesaurus at hand their best works may have had titles like these: The Grapes of Exasperation, 50 Penumbras of Silvery-Ash, The Ravenousness Competitions, An Adieu to Limbs, The Supremo of the Circlets. What are the real titles?

The Headlines:

--Markets Plunge To Open Short Week; Start Of Earnings Season Brings Reality Back To Street; Goldman Misses Estimates; Possible Effects Of Increased Rates And Omicron Induced Slow Down Also Contributes To Woes.

--First News Finally Out Of Tsunami Ravaged Tonga Paints Picture Of Devastation. Almost all Homes On Outlying Islands Swept Away; All Islands Covered In Thick Ash; Eruption Severed Communications Cable; Internet Out.

--Microsoft To Gain Firm Foothold In Gaming; Company Paying $68 Billion In Cash To Buy Activision Blizzard.

--Dems Looking For Strategy To Circumvent Filibuster.

Today’s stock plunge is significantly disconcerting. I’m not feeling a lot of love in reports coming out of the street this morning. Is this the beginning of reality, or will we be surprised again?

The games are set for next weekend’s Final NFL Eight. Oddly, this past Super Wildcard Weekend was a probable ratings disaster as most may have tuned out after Q1, beginning with the Pats. But Pitt, Arizona, Philly, and even Dalas before some dramatic heroics (or was it San Fran ineptitude) were runaways early. Cincy/LV was worth watching all the way. The Tids Pickers were 5-1. Next week we have Bengals-Titans, Niners-Pack, Rams-Bucs and Bills Chiefs. We should get a few more exciting games this weekend.

Pun Classic: England has no blood bank but it does have a Liverpool.

Trump has been issuing anti-McConnell comments. Before taking sides with the ex-Prez, Repubs should remember that it was McConnell who found a way to preserve the Supreme Court for the next Prez appointments, who was Trump.

Isn’t that Microsoft purchase of Activision Blizzard just another form of funny money inflation?

I ordered a Thesaurus recently, when it arrived all the pages were blank. I have no words to describe my anger.

The Answer:

The five great books are The Grapes of Wrath, 50 Shades of Grey, The Hunger Games, A Farewell to Arms and The Lord of the Rings. Having fun yet.

My friend has been writing a stage drama about a dictionary and a thesaurus. I'm really looking forward to it. I love a play on words.

I tried to be a little lighter and airier today, because the stock market isn’t.

Don’t panic.
