Today's Tids Issue 5,099

Blood, Sweat, Determination:

I thought that women’s snowboarding competition was just amazing. But what really impressed me was the genuine enthusiasm each contestant had for the feats of the other contestants regardless of country. It was nice that after experiencing the awe of these magical athletes, they all came together as a happy family for all; that the genuine kindness of the human spirit still exists.

If I was involved in trying to stop murders, I would be most interested in why so many people disregard the lives of others. Especially young people seeing cold blooded murder as a solution to anything. Not whether or not they are using a gun.

Have you noticed where the Olympics are apologizing for having to interrupt Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune on NBC stations? Now you know what is really important to Americans.

If a drummer comes out of retirement, will there be repercussions? Thanks to a delightfully punny reader.

It is almost golf weather again. Almost.

How many people has the average child casually killed while playing computer games in their teens? It is probably over a hundred thousand in the formative teen years. At least from what I can determine after reading opinions of serious gamers. That’s not a good mindset.

Four musical pieces that always get my blood flowing are Brahms Academic Festival Overture, Sebelius Finlandia, Benjamin Britten’ A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and John Adams’ Grand Pianola.

Speaking of cowardice, I will not buy prebagged salads for fear of deadly listeria. Aad what’s so hard about buying heads or stalks or bunches of lettuce ad cutting it yourselves, anyhow.

Considering all of the things to dislike about ex-Prez DT, I will continue to smile over the composition of our Supreme Court.

Clams take shellfies.

CNN ratings would do much better just running reruns of Jeopardy and Wheel.

If the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to be reported Thursday hits the estimated mark of 7%, it is expected that will signal a recovered economy triggering a resultant rate increase by the Fed. The markets have already priced in the increase. Don’t let them use it as an excuse to sell, for it will further indicate the fragility of markets.

Today is National Fettucine Alfredo Day, just in case you need a little extra bulk to face the cold weather. Mangia! I won’t tell.

The 2022 elections will be on the back shelf for many Americans who are really waiting for the second half of the final season of Ozark.

l love watching anybody on boards of all shapes and sizes plummeting down a steep snowy mountain.

Daniel Ek founder of Spotify said yesterday, “We should have clear lines around content and take action when they are crossed, but cancelling voices is a slippery slope, looking at the issue more broadly, it’s critical thinking and open debate that powers real and necessary progress.” I agree. Rushing to judgment has never been productive for a civilized society. Thoughtfulness generally is.

It seems that the problem with the discussions about racism is that one vocal group wants it to be seen as 100% pervasive while another wants to see it as 100% harmonious.

I see HS kids playing rigorous active sports like soccer and cross-country running wearing facemasks. That looks like pure torture tot me. I wonder if the Geneva Convention knows about that.

I just saw a question on an entertainment polling site: Name the best TV commercial in the year you were born? There wasn’t TV in the year I was born. Ouch!
