When you're not looking

Today;s Tids Issue 5,106

A good Ole' Cloud:

I have always liked clouds, puffy clouds in a gigantic blue sky. All shapes and sizes that that can trigger my imagination. Then how come I’m so reluctant to send all of my thoughts to a computing cloud? Maybe its's because they just don’t seem so private to me.

I own the world's worst thesaurus. Not only is it awful, it's awful.

It’s tough for this Tidster to comment on the looming potential war in Ukraine, because I don’t believe anybody knows what is really going one. Except Putin.

Today is National Random Act of Kindness Day: It is also “National Cabbage Day”. I would consider it kind if nobody ever cooked cabbage while I was in the room. I don’t ask for much.

The Question:

What are the oldest US Symphony Orchestras?

The Headlines:

--Vacillating Ukraine War Concerns Has Markets Sinking; New Jobless Claims Rise To 248K – First Increase In 4 Months; New Housing Starts Drop.

--US and Russia Trading Barbs At UN.

--NT SC Judge Rules That Trump And Two Children Have To Testify Under Oath In Ongoing NY AG Case Of Trump Business Practices.

--Polls: 49% Of Americans Against Wearing Masks, 43% For; Biden Approval Ratings At 43%; Biden Has Negative Net Approval In Every U.S. State But Four: Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Vermont. --Russia Expels Bart Gorman, US Deputy Ambassador.

--RI AG Peter Neronha Squishes Big Hospital Merger.

I watch these big commercial buildings go up and geta little excited thinking a good jobs manufacturing company is moving to town. 90% of the time they are drug stores or huge storage centers -- A place for all of the stuff manufactured in Asia.

That Remington arms decision in the Newtown slaughter case  may have some bad ramifications, setting precedents to go after weapons manufactures or even autos or smart phones and software for the acts of humans. Obviously, everybody feels for the families of all those little kids killed by a very unstable kid.

A fly was very close to being called an “Land”, because tat’s what they do half the time. --Mitch Hedberg

I just wrote to the KFC company suggesting that they should serve their chicken tenders with a little container of dipping gravy. Seems like a natural, but maybe messy when driving.

The big hospital merger in RI had some good possibilities. I figure the unions got to AG Neronha. Around here the unions always get to somebody when they dare to think like big leaguers.

I find that a duck’s opinion of me is heavenly influenced by whether or not I have bread.  --Mitch Hedberg

I just loaded up a new laptop with the stuff I need for Tidsing. The keys look bigger and they all work. So, there should be fewer typos. Except for the fact that my mind usually gets ahead of my fingers.

Reparations by any other name is still reparations. A lot of people don’t like this concept of reparations, so politicians will find a way to give out guilt money without using the name. The road to survival in the USA is reading between the lines.

A RI legislator wants ban gas leaf blowers like California. Another RI Senator wan to spend less of infrastructure dough on roads and bridges. More on bike paths and green stuff. Don’t the pols understand that crumbling infrastructure really is one of the most pressing problems in America, especially in old cities and places like here where they have shirked their maintenance responsibility for far too many years. RI is becoming a socialist state for sure.

They say that kosher meat is more expensive because Jewish animals are better negotiators.

The Answer:

The New York Philharmonic is the oldest. The big Five are NYP, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Cleveland. There are 1,224 inte USA. The best in the world are considered Vienna, Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Orchestra of the age of Enlightenment, The Royal Concertgebouw and the Chicago.

Late again but, I think I’m up to speed now. The Tids will be back!
