A multitasking world.

Today's Tids Issue 4,811

Georgia on my mind:

Sometimes when Covid seems to blur the world you knew, music - a symphony, a concerto, a love song, happy dancing melody - will bring back the most beautiful times and the magnificent scenes always there in your memory. Your imagination will reach in upon the sharps and flats, andantes and allegrettos and crescendos. And if you close your eyes you will always see the wonder that always was and will always be, and hear the sounds of laughter and feel the smiles so warmly given over so many years; something incredibly meaningful is always there within the music.

As phone watching insidiously takes over minds, everything else becomes a blur.

A good friend and reader suggests to me and to all concerned about those who have lost jobs due to Covid, but still have mortgages and families to raise on pittance incomes, should find a way to use stimulus checks for good. In his own words: “Who needs this money, they or me? I think not me. Our leaders should have thought more about those that have retired and have not lost a check and gave them less or nothing and then given more to those that have lost a paycheck still have a mortgage, children to feed and other bills to pay. I will give my stimulus money to those in need. If anyone that reads this could find a way to help a person or family in need please help them if you do not need your stimulus money.”

A “Stimulus Re-designation Fund” should be established somewhere. The people always do it better than the government.

Potential lucrative collectibles: Card board cutouts used at NFL football games. Empty seats, the symbol of a year.

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavoring, and dish washing liquid made with real lemons?

The Question:

Name the 13 original Colonies in the order that they ratified the Constitution. Bonus: In 1965 the Football world was astounded by the largest contract ever given to a player. What were the dollars, who was the player, who was the team? Extra Bonus: Who were the three men who founded Apple in 1977?

The Headlines:

--First New Year Market Day Opens Higher, But Spiral Downward In Late Morning.

--Trump Phone Call To Georgia Official Urging Him To “Find” 11,799 Votes An Embarrassment to USA.

--BBC Reports Iran Back To Enriching Uranium.

--All Eyes On Georgia Senate Elections Tomorrow.

--Islamic State Back In News Claiming Responsibility For Pakistani Attack.

--UK Judge Blocks Extradition Of Assange To US.

Georgia: --I don’t know if it is close but there is a ton of early voting activity and that wasn’t good for Repubs in the General. --The stock market analysts today are saying if the Dems take two, then gridlock loving investors will sell, producing a 6% to 10% drop Wednesday. --How much has Trump hurt Repubs races there?

Will the Repubs  come up 11,799 votes short in Georgia senate races? Since last January The Tids political editor has said, that Trump isn’t important, the Repub senate is. Tomorrow we will see if America can survive with and all new style Democrat Exec and Legislative branches.

My real anger this morning is directed at those who have been undermining respect for the police, allowing thuggery to run wild, to spit in the face of civilized society. Increasing blatant attacks on police in big and small incidents is trending towards general chaos. Too many enablers of bad behavior are running around naked these days. Kindness is one thing. Responsibility is another, and much more important. You can’t do anything you want. That’s not what “free” society means.

Has TV just become background noise for those Googling, tweeting, emailing and game playing?

Why didn’t Noah just swat those two mosquitoes?

Hey, I forgot on December 31 to thank all of you for your clever stuff suggested for Tids. After 4,811 Tids I have trouble finding a lot of brandy new stuff and new human foibles ot yet observed. Politics is out of control and over reported and isn’t fun anymore, but it is funny. About 2% of what is reported as news is news. So I look for new interesting stuff from you. And I say thanks! Just 189 issue left before #5,000. Just about 38 weeks until the big celebration. Well, me anyhow sitting here in my little room with a grin on my face. Yippie! Just practicin’.

I think the country needs a president like Mitt Romney.

A reader reminded me that the people on your Christmas card list are there all year long. And that they are on that list for a reason of friendship.

Lots of investors are trying to figure out how to play Alibaba, still a great global company, but in the hands of Xi Jinping you never know. Jack Ma momentarily forgot that he isn’t bigger than the party no matter how smart or successful he may be. That is just the way it is in a communist country.

Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains?

The Answer:

The smallest states were the bookends, -- Delaware was first and Rhode Island was last. After Delaware we have Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina and Little Rhody – the little Rogue then, and still a bit quirky! Bonus: The New York Jets paid Joe Namath the unheard-of sum of $400,000, and the world was dismayed. “Never again’, they cried. What did Patrick Mahomes just sign for last September -- $502,631 Million over 12 years? Remember when $20 bucks was big money. Extra Bonus: I think everybody knows of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak but what about good ole’ Mike Markkule Jr.? Or was it Ronald Gerald Wayne. In April 1976Wayne was in fact the third co-founder of Apple (Receiving 10% of equity), but he bailed out for $800 in weeks, afraid of legal personal responsibility for debts. (If Wayne had stayed, he would have been worth $35Bil). In 1977 The foundation for commercial success was laid when Markkule came in with money and became co-equal one third partner. The Tids always shines the light upon those forgotten in the public smooching parade. Mike was the second CEO of Apple, and Chairman (1985-1997) and don’t worry about him –he is worth $1.2 Billion.

Four years ago, the Dems wanted to dissolve the hated Electoral college. Today it’s the Repubs turn to abuse it. Why would I ever listen to any of them? Politics has jumped the shark. It’s been a TV show and now it’s a bad TV show.

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?
