Both Sides now

Today's Tids Issue 5,053

If walls had ears:

Living in the past isn’t so bad if you have a rent-controlled apartment.

There is nothing better than walking on a beach on winter’s morning. Really. I mean that.

There is so much money available in this world that any well written, well-presented idea has a good chance to reap really big money in the IPO lottery, gain immediate traction for billions in investor enthusiasm eve without reasonable financial or business data. Hot now in wonderland are NFT’s, Digital Currency and SPAC’s. This is the wild-wild West al over again at its finest, especially in this new generation of exuberant times. And pity the poor novice getting trapped into getting on board.

Everything these days is about packaging, and that includes politicians from the bottom to the very top.

Steven Wright: I walked up to a tourist information booth and asked them to tell me about a couple of people who were here last year.

I think that one of the worst inventios of today’s tectological age is the autocorrect thing. Autocorrect is like a closed minded liberal who won’t even try to understand what you are trying to say.

The Question:

In the name from the past department today, we have Kim Bassinger. What were her best films? If she had any.

The Headlines:

--Stock Markets Catching Their Breath; Bad News Currently Stabilized; Analysts Still See Room For Growth; Fed Tapering Will Begin, When Is The Question.

--House Passes Procedural Bill To Help Seate Dems Raise The Debt Ceiling.

--Olaf Scholz Tales Over From Angela Merkl.

You have to wonder if Superman ever put glasses on Lois Lane’s dog and she was like, “I’ve never seen this dog before. Is this a new dog?”

So many people are searching for hope and fulfilling needs, and even finding love, that they can be duped into believing that just about anything is true.

On last night’s The Voice results show I was a little surprised, but not totally because when you get down to the end it is more about fan groups than necessarily singing talent. Jershika Maple outdueled a popular favorite Joshua Vacanti in the big the sing off for the final spot in the finale show. It would have been nice to hear Joshua one more time, but Jershika is very, very good. I’d say that GNT is the act to beat, but Wendy Moten is certainly a challenger. The kid Hailey Mia continues to surprise ad Paris is very popular It will be close.

It finally happened after week 13 in the NFL, one team has been eliminated. And it isn’t Detroit. That position of infamy belongs Houston! But Jax and Detroit are listed by the computer of having zero chances in case you are interested. The computer model also set up playoff teams as of today: In the AFC New England will be #1 and receive the bye. Then it is the Titans, Chiefs and Ravens. The AFC wildcards would be Bills, Chargers and Colts. In the NFC, the Cardinals are the #1 with the bye. Next are Packers, Bucs and Cowboys. The Wildcards are Rams, Niners, and Eagles. The WFT is just a hair off. Ladies and gentlemen place your bets.

Most days lately I have to go back to the restaurant I ate in the night before to see if anybody found my glasses. That always means when I get home, I’ll find them on my desk where I left them.

I feel sorry for Kim Potter.

I remember the days when I would have 2-3 martinis before dinner. Now I just pour myself a stiff Metamucil.

The Answer:

Starting at number 10, we have “Ready to Wear”. Next is “The Nice Guys”, then “Fool for Love”, “Never Say Never Again”, “8 Miles”, “The Natural”, “Batman”, “The Door in the Floor”, “9 ½ Weeks” and #1 best KB film is “L.A. Confidential”. I liked The Natural.

One of the big problems that is fracturing America is that both sides talk to walls and don’t hear anything in return.

Curious smile of the day: Why is there so much pressure to spend Independence Day with other people?
