Coasting.

Today's Tids Issue 5,068

Jan 1 is just another day after Dec 31:

I don’t think computers are as smart as they think they are. They just continually ask me questions using terminology that I don’t understand.

This is probably the real day of rest following all of the excitement and emotions of the Christmas days. The floor is finally clear of scraps of wrapping paper, the dishes are back to normal sized stacks in cupboards and we sit again in our favorite chairs and spaces. But there is nothing like that lovable disruption of a family and good friends hanging around your house at Christmas time. At any old time, for that matter.

A good packaging graphic designer is always thinking about outside the box.

Advice from Dave Barry: “Never board a commercial aircraft if the pilot is wearing a tank top.”

The Question:

The new Spiderman movie is rocking at the box office. Of all the actors who have played this superhero, who are ranked as the top 5?

The Headlines:

--Dow Opens Up On Strong Note; Techs Lower.

--Rampaging Gunman In Denver Area Kills 4, Wounds 3 in Multi-Site Shootings.

--Biden Shifts Blame for Test Disruptions From Fed To States.

--CDC Shortest Covid Quarantine Time From 10 to 5 Days.

--Massive Bird Flu Epidemic Israel Kills Over 5,000 Cranes; 500K Chickens Slaughtered.

--Microsoft Patents Possible Triple Scree Smart Phone Design.

Some of the smartest people’s NY’s resolution is to avow never to make a New Year’s resolution.

Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level; it’s cheaper.”

You have to wonder if the CDC’s shortening of the quarantine time to five days was at the behest of the NFL?

A stock market observer suggests that right now Bears are worried about things like climate change, long term pandemic fears and paradigm changes in a years’ ahead society. While Bulls are watching a pretty good economy and enthusiastic consumer confidence level. The bears can’t get traction because their concerns of the moment are just too long rage. This current boom has proven to be resilient.

The head of the TSA retired. His employees gave him a gold watch. He then had to put it in a bin.

NFL is coming down to a very exciting finish. My beloved Patriots are showing some flaws. They still have a good chance to make it into the play offs. But after Last night’s Miami win over New Orleans, I’m thinking that the Pats (Already having lost to the Dolphins) are only the third best team in the AFC East. In fact, now the three AFC wild cards there are Indy, Pats and Dolphins. T e Pats play the Dolphins in their last game. There are many playoff scenarios that will make the final two weeks very exciting for NFL nuts like me. The Lions, Texans, Jags and Jets, long gone, have now been joined on the out list by Seahawks, Bears and Panthers. The Pack, Chiefs, Cowboys, Bucs, Rams and Cards are in. That’s only six of 14 possibly playoff spots. (Buffalo is probably all set now, too… but not officially.) Key AFC games coming up next week are Tenn-Miami, LV, R-Balt, Den-LAC, KC-Cin, Min-GB, Cleve-Pitt and LV-Ind. Those will be sure sorting out games.

Is it me, or does it seem like there are an awful lot of more instances of private planes crashing into quiet neighborhoods?

Every novel is a mystery if you never finish it.

The Answer:

Number One is Tom Holland. #2 is Toby Maguire followed by Andrew Garfield, Jake Johnson, Yuri Lowenthal, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Chris Pine, Drake Bell, Josh Keaton and at #10, Paul Soles.

Did you hear about the boy who got a box of batteries for Christmas with a note: “Toys not included”?

I had something funny about typos to finish with, but I couldn’t read my notes.
