Band-Ade America

Today's Tids Issue 5,129

Perspective:

I heard this morning that there is talk in the White House of sending everybody in America a prepaid gas card. How insane. Government officials tend to mask problems as opposed to getting down in the mud to find a solution. Bailing out Wall Street in 2008 didn’t solve a problem of irresponsible investing. It just rewarded failure. Every time the gov sends out money to cover up a problem we remove the incentive for consumers and businesses to manage better. The gov is only contributing to the growth of inflation which is the major affliction in our land now. When the Gov sends out free money, people and businesses don't care how much they spend because it isn't theirs's. Companies of will charge up to the amount of money that is available. People overpay all the time, and when they are using free money there is not penalty ty for overpaying. Solving big problems is really tough. Unfortunately, we don't seem to be electing people smart enough to come up with a solution. Or maybe we all aren’t just tough enough to bite the bullet.

Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.

You know, everything's relative. Yet we as a human population tend to m define everything in absolutes. And then worry too much about it. Global warming compared to the Ice Age isn’t so bad. Better-than-crappy can be very good in the stock market. The Tids isn’t the bible, but it’s free.

The Question:

Name five Reese Witherspoon movies.

The Headlines:

--Markets Open Higher; Fed To Act More Aggressively ToSlow Inflation.

--Ukraine Takes Back Key Town Outside Of Kiev.

--Russian Critic Alexei B Navalny Gets 9 More Years Added To His Sentence.

--178 Texas Fires Have Torched Over 108,000 Acres.

--Pro-Kremlin Tabloid Reports 10,000 Russian Soldiers Killed; Item Quickly Removed.

--Russia Threatening To Cut Ties With US Over War Criminal Accusation.

--Jackson SC Nomination Session Continues.

Raising interest rates is not a band-ade. This a move that is necessary, and it might be painful for some who have done well with no interest intrusions, but inflation sucks for any economy. So, put the leather strap between your teeth and bite hard. You’ll only remember the pain for a moment or two. Everything's relative.

Moses had the first tablet that could connect to the cloud.

Automation and AI will erase more “Knowledge” jobs than blue collar jobs. Right now, there is a premium out there to hire masses of super smart people to develops AI systems which will eventually replace them. Unless they get into a union that recreates a new kind of featherbedding.

It looks now like we can’t say “Victory” anymore. Because nobody wins in a war. Or basketball game, or Monopoly and Hopscotch. So, history books will say we really didn’t have victory over Japan or Germany. Despite what the relatives of all those killed may think.

Ritz Crackers: Tiny edible plates.

They say that Russia's new Hypersonic missile is really, really fast. But not as fast as Russian censors.

Today is National Goof-Off Day. Just today?

If your child is on the way to becoming Valedictorian, forget about it. More and more schools across this magnificent land are wiping out that competition for academic achievement as “Unhealthy”. It appears though that the lords of mediocre education like the idea of multi ple winners and will allow Summa Cum Laude (+4.24 GPA), Magna Cum Laude (4.00 to 4.25 and Cum Laude (3.75 to 4). Actually, this could be a good idea for those attending graduations. Let the Class Clown give the speech.

The closest a person ever comes to perfection is when he fills out a job application form.

Thursday begins the Dell World Match Play tournament in Austin Texas, which has become one of the more enjoyable PGA events to watch.

Just what the world needs... Party Bikes for crissake. Have you seen these. I guess the idea is that groups of people rent these so they can drink a]and party while pedaling around towns. The streets here are clogged enough without having these slow-moving vehicles irritating real drivers with a purpose.

NASA confirms that there are 5,000 planets outside of our solar system. I have to believe that there are human on at least one of them.

The Answer:

Reese is considered tone a big player in Glitzville. Personally, I have never seen it in her on the screen. That’s just me and as you know, everything is relative. But she gets the audiences and people respect her for more than her acting. Her best movies ranked best to worst are: Walk the Line, Just Like Heaven, The Man in the Moon, Gone Girl, Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama, Wild, Pleasantville, Freeway and at #10, Mud. She has over 40 including some made for TV and several animation voices gigs.

Has anybody ever finished a whole Chapstick?

A lot of the technology whiz-bang inventions we have seen are to basically disguise something that is not there.
