The good ole’ Yellow and Blue

Today's Tids Issue 5,130

Heart over duty:

The good news this morning is that Ukraine troops are pushing back Russian invaders. Isn’t that about as heartening as news can get. To see that this undermanned military and citizen soldier army fighting for something in which they believe can rise up against forces way beyond their physical capable but not their hearts. BTW, did you know that 15% of the Ukraine military are women?

Today is National Puppy Day. How could this not be one of the great happy days of the year. Ok everybody, let's get out there and wag our tails.

In a new effort towards more effective quality control, comedy clubs are investing in bomb sniffing dogs.

The Question:

What is Henry Killilea known for?

The Headlines:

--Markets Trend Downward In Early Afternoon, Sink Even Lower At Closing.

--Anatoly Chubais, Chief Architect of Russia Economic Reforms Quits And Leaves Country Due To War; Large Groups Of Russian Soldiers Refusing To Fight.

--Putin Ally And Former Russian President Medvedev Warns Of Nuclear Dystopia If Washington Continues Seeking Destruction Of Russia

--Lindsey Graham Storms Out Of Jackson Gearing After Questions Of Her Representing Guantanamo Prisoners

I’m just going to sit back and not get anxious over Wall Street's vacillation over Powell’s remarks. It seems all about which days the Nays or Ayes are speaking louder. We are in a news driven market cycle and it is just about varying interpretations of different squiggly lines.

The really good news is that several Russian Military leaders are speaking out and that the key Putin Economic advisor has called it quits. It looks like the scenes of atrocities in Ukraine are starting to get into the minds of people. That maybe the slow drip, drip drip of horror will pull together a courageous opposition. There really is no better global news that we need right now than anything feels like hope for the Ukraine people.

Today is also National Atheist Day. I guess some people don’t know who makes puppies.

I heard of a great name for a good bar: "The Third Base Saloon”, the place to be before you go home.

The Fed is getting involved in CBDC, Central Bank Digital Currency. Remember that, CBCD. US agencies want studies on its impact on our economy and currency. And the Fed appears to be obliging. It is probably coming sooner than later. Where there’s smoke there’s probably a gigantic server field without enough cooling.

The Answer:

Henry Killilea was known as the “Godfather of the American League” and probably did more for baseball than anybody. In 1903 he brought together the long-established National League and the 3-year-old upstart American league that was causing havoc among the established teams. And most important, he had the idea and negotiated the creation of the World Series first played between superpower, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boston Americans (Red Sox) The Sox won and that established the credibility for the junior league. It was a 9-game series then.

I like to think we are now a stock market that will rise slowly. That we will see a steady but not dramatic climb with setbacks more due to profit taking on the way up.
