Con man stunts.

Today's Tids Issue 5,119

Reason in the Court:

How about that magnanimous Putin, He has opened refugee pathways to... Russia and Russia controlled Belarus. What a guy.

Putin rose to power on the mutual backing of the Oligarchs and they for him, and now he is responsible for the potential global confiscation of their assets. Is there a back-room cabal going on somewhere?

I was happy to see the policeman charged in that Missouri Briana death controversy found not guilty. Her death was not the result of systemic racism but due to the insidious systemic drug culture.

When US households went double income, the dynamics of our economy changed dramatically forever. That’s when inflation problems started, not 6 months ago.

One of my favorite tone poems is Death and Transfiguration by Richard Strauss.

Mississippi is a Hippie’s wife.

The Question:

How does the California economy rank against all the countries of the world?

The Headlines:

--Ukraine War Has Wall Street Befuddled; Higher Gas Prices To Accelerate Inflation; Indices To Drop Despite Solid Health Of Economy Basics.

--European Stocks Drop As Bear Takes Charge.

The cost of gas is now out of control. And will obviously rapidly increase the cost of everything from pizza deliveries, landscaper power equipment to anything that arrives at main street and shopping center stores by truck. And how about all the deliveries from internet sites to your home. Will “Free Shipping” could become part of the past? Like perhaps the cost of commuting to offices in cities.

Already, some gas stations are using the Ukraine war as reason to gouge.

I remember when a $400,000 home was far beyond the reach of 95% of Americans. (A $400K home in 1967 would now be $3,367,041).

Speaking of way too much disposable income, tickets to the aptly named Coach K’s final game in Cameron Indoor Stadium were going for $5K $10K! I guess the 100K coach deserves his acclaim, But 10 K for a basketball game! 3 to 6 tickets would pay for childcare for a year for most double income parents. This game was the Event of 2022 so far, with many a celeb in attendance. Unfortunately, Coach K’s team got squashed by their great old rival North Carolina. From elation to degradation in 2 hours. Some people will drink costly wine while others will wonder how they can afford to get to grandmas.

The police got the devil on possession.

Joe B is saying that Americans have to go back into their offices instead of working from home. Obviously, he is recognizing now like most have for the past few years that big cities don’t work if there aren't big companies with lots of employees who support all the small shops, services and restaurants large and small. And a commercial real-estate industry threatened with collapse. While a Prez can order Gov employees back to the office, private businesses are free to make their own decisions. And a Funny thing happened on the way to covid. They have learned a lot like fewer employees in the office helps them with their dreaded “Carbon footprint”. Some employees work better at home and really like the lower costs of commuting. Hey, with techno advances we are facing more and more paradigm changes on a regular basis. And perhaps clustering in big cities has lost its raison d’etre. Changes of mindboggling altitudes have been a constant since the beginning of time. They just happen faster now.

A lot of US Military veterans are rushing to the aid of Ukraine. Some just don’t understand sitting on the sideline, but it seems many more who have seen the horror are saying it is not our war, for a change. Even though there is the potential for a domino effect like a similar theory that supported the rationale behind Viet Nam, the lessons of history are saying, stay home.

I coulda bin an intellectual, but I never took to studying that well.

There are a lot of rumors that Ukraine is just the first step in Putin's plan to move into other countries like Romania, The Balkens and more. But cooler heads think that its military will be kept very busing quelling insurrections in Ukraine.

Did you hear about the sesame seed that had the audience LOL? It was on a roll.

Russia is a huge land mass but it’s population per acre is very small and its economy is the size of Texas and 40% smaller that California.

"No matter how perilous the international landscape, we will maintain our strategic focus and promote the development of a comprehensive China-Russia Relationship Iin the new era”. --Wang Yi, China Foreign Minister.

That’s not terribly comforting.
