Today's Tids Issue 5,124

Back to courage:

“Agent 99” is 89? I must be getting older too, but I don't feel it. Would you believe I was abducted by aliens and am stuck at 16 and a half? I was locked in a movie theater playing the “Alien” and I’m still 54? Boys bever grow up. Sorry about that, chief.

The mass drug trauma to spring breakers including West Point cadets really unnerved me. It wasn’t just that instance of mass young people OD’s that bothered me, but it was that it was the latest of a trend where police and EMTs rush to scenes of mass poisoned young people; kids thinking they are having fun only becthe victims of fentanyl laced cocaine. They greatest kids in the world “experimenting” are now putting themselves in mortal danger. It’s nothing to laugh about. Letting drug dealers out of prison is something to cry about.

Tom Brady is unretiring? What a joke. I guess he didn't fair too well finding an acting job like his pal and former nemesis Peyton Manning.

The Brackets are in. I know you are on the edge of your seats awaiting the Tids-Pickers Final Four. Surprises are that BIg Ten Champ Iowa Is Only a 5, and ACC Champ Virginia Tech is a lowly 8. What? Mighty ACC only has 5 this year and one is a play-in. Of the rest of the Bigs: SEC – 5; Big 12 – 6 (One play-in); Big East 0 – 6; Pac 12 – 3; Big 10 – 7 (2 play-ins). This year more than ever the final four is anybody’s guess. Too many teams are just too even.

Two wifi engineers got married. The reception was fantastic.

The Question:

While the bettors and media focus infinite light on the Big Leagues of NCAA basketball, there are plenty of pretty good athletes playing well in Division III. Who are the top ten teams in men’s and Women’s NCAA Div III Basketball?

The Headlines:

--Stocks Open Mixed; Ukraine Turbulence Keep Investors Guessing; Oil Drops Belo $103- Stocks Sag At End Of Day.

--US Security Officials To Meet With China Counterparts To Warn About Supposedly Russia Fake News On Bioweapons; US Says Russia Has Requested Military And Economic Assistance Form Cg hina.

--Repubs Lining Up To Support Liz Cheney; Joe Manchin Announces He Will Oppose Biden For Dem Nomination.

-- Iran Claims Responsibility For Missile Barrage Striking Near U.S. Consulate Complex In Irbil Iraq: Was retaliation For Israeli Two Revolutionary Guards.

--Zelensky Calls For Boycott Of Firms Who Continue To Do Business With Russia.

Russians are fleeing Russia worrying about conscription and lost of jobs and income. And probably jail time for complaining. This may be the most persuasive argument for peace.

How about a 2024 presidential election between Liz Cheney and Joe Manchin -- two people who didn’t follow the party line.

I’m wondering if the staying on the sideline decision by us in Ukraine will embolden Iran and others to push the aggression envelope. In wonder if it is why Russia bombed a Ukraine base within inches of Poland.

The Top four seeds in the Women’s tourney brackets are South Carolina, Louisville, NC State and Stanford. The #2’s are Iowa, Baylor, UConn and Texas. More than like one of thoe teams will win. The woman’s tourney plays more to form mainly because there just isn’t enough top tier talent to spread around. Yet.

Today is, “National Nap Day”, also known as National Catch Up on the Hour of Sleep Lost Yesterday!

Among the most boring elements of life are sports interviews on TV.

Did TB12 announce his unretirement on March Madness Sunday just to prove he was still the biggest draw in sports? Egos are weird.

The Answer:

The Top Ten Men's Div III Basketball teams are Randolf Macon, Marietta, UW-Oshkosh, Christopher Newport, UW Plainville, Mary-Harden-Baylor, Illinois Wesleyan, St Joseph (Ct), Amhurst and Johns Hopkins. For the women it is Christopher Newport, Hope, Transylvania, Simpson, Trine, Whitman, NYU, Amhurst, Scranton and Baldwin Wallace. Let’s hear it for the little guys who play for the school colors but are no less competitive than the money players.

Not that you really care, but here’s my final eight and the winner. At least it will give you a laugh as I go down in flames. And it will make your feel better about your picks. My final 8 are Gonzaga, Duke, UCLA, Virgnia Tech, Arizona, Villanova, Iowa and Auburn. The fours are Arizona, Iowa, Gonzaga and UCLA. The semis will feature UCLA and Iowa with Wooden’s legacy the champs. As they say, “On the west coast when the smog lifts, UCLA.”

Happy picking, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
