Mindlessness.

Today's Tids Issue 5,194

Bicycles, a threat level blue:

I could live in a world of beautiful music,

Because that’s where dreams are found

I like music without words,

Because each note, each melody is mine.

That lets the mind swell to visions sublime

Where you can travel to lands afar

Or truly say what’s in your heart.

“...that Moral Arguments are meaningless to the amoral, that calls for of loyalty are futile if directed at the disloyal, that appeals to the greater good are worthless to the selfish, that emotional pleas are ineffective to the indifferent...” This observation was a part of a sports story about the golf mess, but I thought it reflected inherent problems within our overall disagreement society in which we live today. So, I thought I’d pass along the word s of writer Eamon Lynch.

One of the biggest cost increases for food service businesses and restaurants is To-Go Packaging. Yes, since Covid, people are takeout crazy and it now costs more money to buy material as demand soared against a fairly static supply. This is from the Not as it seems department.

How Ironic: Did you know that the most shoplifted book in America is the Bible.

“Why can't the Supreme Court hear us?” That was a headline of a column in Sunday’s paper by a planned parenthood supporter. Yet That was the same headline question in the 1970’s papers after the Roe versus Wade decision. I guess life is just a matter of who's same the same thing at any6 given point in time.

Charlie Chaplin once entered a “Walk like Charlie Chaplin Contest” and came in 20th

That was a nice US Open win by a nice guy Matt Fitzpatrick. A thriller to the end. With one amazing sand shot to save it. But alas for Will Zalatoris, the young whiz who just had his third second place finish In a Major. He may the first player ever to have single year second place grand slam. No question now he will win one soon.

Big labor during the next couple of years will do everything it can to power growth while it has a big labor president in charge. RI doesn’t really need a positive labor environment as it is already owned by labor. RI needs to buck the trend so it can beyond its lowest in nation friendly to business Rating.

The guy wo successfully went over Niagara falls in a barrel died after slipping on an orange peel.

You gotta love these directions to an Audubon nature area. They seem to take us back in time:   “Just past Rueben Brown Road turn right off Ten Rod Road to Widow Sweet's Road and after 0.4 miles turn right onto Pardon Joslin Road til you hit Fisherville stream. Sounds like a relaxing place to be with gingham dresses and bonnets and baggy bib overalls. And nothing much to do after a long day in the fields.

When do you think people will get tired of the Ukraine war? It happens you know.

If some doc told me a I was about to die soon, I’d probably just eat nothing but Magnum Caramel Minis and napoleons. Sweets wouldn’t be a problem anymore.

In my limited epicurean mind, there is nothing better than a well-made napoleon.

A pretty well-known local PGA golfer around here said yesterday that the LIV tour sounds like a Member Guest Exhibition with shot gun starts, just 54 holes and appearance fees... where the dough is there regardless how well you play the game.

BTW, how do you establish world rankings if one Tour plays 54 holes and the other 72 holes. They can’t be ranked fairly, that's for sure.

The only losing coach in the history of U Kansas basketball was James Naismith, the inventor of basketball.

Is there any place more peaceful than a quite harbor after sailing in raging winds all day? Answer: There isn't

It seems to me that everybody now wants to curate things instead of whatever they used to do..

Q-tips, which are usually bought primarily to clean inside your ears, are sold in boxes that expressly warn: “Do not insert inside the ear canal.”

How come parking lot prices are soaring too. I don't remember supply chain problems there. Did the Ukraine war, lack of semiconductors or low labor availability affect the supply of parking places? Inflation gougers for sure.

The Answer:

Number most trusted brand is Band-Aid. Next are Lysol, Clorox, UPS, CVS, VISA, Cheerios, The Weather Channel, Colgate and Home Depot. Quite the cross section. Cheerios was interesting considering it is one brand among a large segment of similar type brands.

A Roman walks into a bar and raises two fingers, “I’ll have five beers”. Think about it.

It’s Monday. Who cares. I'm not going to school, and I don’t work. But, did I take out the garbage? Hmmm.

This past weekend was the coldest ever reported weekend for this date in this area. A local morning show sports guy thanked all the EV car drivers.
